Cubs need to pick it up 'cause I don't know how long I'll be able to say, "well, at least they have a better record than the Yankees." But with stuff like this, who knows?

Lidle's only thrown 59 pitches through five innings. Always shooting for the fences is a huge problem for the Cubs, but their refusal to work counts ensures that they rarely see middle relief. Seven pitches in that fifth inning.

I'm not optimistic with today's game. Ball's carrying too well and the Cubs are going to be swinging for the fences despite the fact that almost everything Lidle throws drops down. Props to Prior, though, for loading the bags with no outs and striking out the side right after.

Todd Worrell has requested time off to deal with "personal pyschological issues."

I heard that the Yanks and Cubs were in talks for Rodriguez, but hadn't heard who the player the Cubs would be giving up was. I've been giving Holly a tough time, but I think he's too much to give up for Rodriguez. Of course, there's always the injury problems, but it still seems like a one-sided deal.

People are giving the Yankees too much credit. They won't stay this bad, but what makes you think they're going to make such a drastic improvement between now and the end of September? Jeter and A-Rod are hitting as well as they're going to, maybe even more so. This wasn't the case last year. There's only a couple bats in the lineup you can expect to make any real improvement as the season years on. But their rotation is a mess, as is their pen.

Cubs get swept, have dropped five in a row and are now three games under .500. This was the most painful loss of the series, though. Especially after tying it with two outs in the ninth.

But Ramirez and Barrett don't bother to run much and so it's only first and third. Brewers color man REALLY ripped into everyone for that. Speaking of them, I actually think they're one of the better duos I've heard. And as I type that, Hollandsworth bloops a single into the outfield to plate the first run.

With the Yankees situation where it stands, I believe it would be in the board's best interest if the ban on AS were lifted. There's simply too many good things going on to have him banned and unable to speak his mind on the matters at hand.
