Wow, you couldn't script this 9th inning any better. Rivera vs. the #1 1-2 punch in baseball.
-
Cheap fucking hit. Ah well, just gives Ortiz a shot.
-
Felt that breeze from here.

Little Miss Sunshine pulling in an $8000+ per screen average? That's impressive.

Pats are gonna win two divisions this year? Cool. For some reason I think the Colts are going to have their hands full in their division. I'm even thinking that the Texans are going to steal a game from them in Houston. I just think that Harrison is on the decline and they are going to SORELY miss the Edge in the backfield, leading to Peyton throwing more and making more mistakes. I'd also put the Bills above the Jets solely on the fact that the Bills are a bit better and will win the H2H games between them.

Nobody brought up the fact that Conan is hosting this year? I'm watching.

Ah yes, the ol' "Pink Hats", so named because you see most of them (mostly women) wearing the pink kind of Red Sox hat. I went to a game in July and I was surrounded by them.

http://www.tv.com/story/story.html&sto...umballs;title;5 For me: Monday - How I Met Your Mother (even though I hated how the first season ended), MNF (if the matchup is good/involves the Pats), 24 in January Tuesday - Nothing really interests me Wednesday - LOST and I'll give 30 Rock a shot Thursday - The Office (got into it late in the season), TUF 4 Friday - Ghost Whisperer when Lacey Chabert guests (four of the biggest stars from Party of Five on one screen!) Saturday - Probably the primetime college game. Sunday - Football and TAR I'll also watch Scrubs when it comes back, of course. I noticed that Law & Order is being pushed to Friday. That's pretty much the death knell for that series.

I think Jackson is signed, but he was on the PUP list last I heard. EDIT: And I REALLY hope that the guys that called that game on NFL Net aren't the guys that are doing the primetime games this season. Sharpe was pretty good in his Sunday night appearance last year, but he sucked tonight. (After a Troy Brown catch) "That is learned behavior; you can't teach that." Wha?
-
It's kind of both. Yankee hitter patience + Red Sox pitchers' suck = bad times. I think we're gonna see some bench clearing goodness in game 4 tomorrow (or tonight, whatever)

It's preseason, but so far Laurence Maroney is the real deal. Having him spell Dillon and having Kevin Faulk come in for 3rd downs and short passes out of the backfield, defensive coordinators are going to be tearing their hair out. And that's BEFORE having to deal with Brady.

- I am not watching another Red Sox/Yankees game for the rest of the season after last night's record setting debacle. The fans would like you to believe that this is two teams playing each other at their best when in reality you get 4 hour snoozefests with 30 pitch at-bats and the occasional big play. And now that the bullpens will be running on fumes this weekend, it doesn't look pretty. - Reason #2132 I hate progress: I went up to Saratoga Springs, New York last weekend for a little vacation. There was a K-Mart right next to the hotel we were staying at, so we went there to grab some stuff. I could go on about how friggin' UGLY the place looked and all the white trash in upstate NY seemed to congregate there, but that's not what really pissed me off. That happened as the guy in front of me tosses a .59 cent roll of Scotch tape on the counter..... ....and pulls out his debit card. ....AND PULLS OUT A FUCKING DEBIT CARD! I wanted to beat the guy with my package of Goldfish crackers. Plop the tape on the counter, give the lady the two quarters and dime, take your penny and GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY LIFE!

Our long national nightmare is over.

No....don't tie this damn thing up and send it to extras. Amnesty International is going to have to get involved pretty soon to end this torment.
-
It was a Giants-Dodgers game. EDIT: And this game has passed that record of 4 hrs 27 minutes.
-
This game is closing in on the record for longest 9-inning game in MLB history. I believe it. If I was there, I'd be heading for the subway because the last train is in 20 minutes.
-
Since the original TWiB thread is being swamped by the five game series, here's a thread for everyone else that's sick of 20 hour games between the two teams with the highest payrolls and somewhat annoying fanbases. Have at it. Any posts regarding the You Know Who series in this thread will be deleted.

$2.75 million! Wooo! That's pretty much the only good thing to happen today at Fenway. EDIT: 4 hours...and we're STILL not out of the 7th.
-
And now we got BILLY RAY FUCKING CYRUS singing God Bless America. If I was at that game, I'd be looking for something sharp to swallow right now. Cyrus looks like Damon circa 2004.
-
Yankees have batted around FOUR times today. FOUR. And I think every time against the Boston bullpen, too.
-
So has anyone ever seen a doubleheader full of as much piss poor pitching than this one has? Ye gods. I think the number of pitches thrown is about the same as the total for the telethon at this point.
-
We've passed the 3 1/2 hour mark and we're only in the top of the 7th. Gotta love these Red Sox/Yankees games.
-
Who else was supposed to start? Wang didn't throw that many pitches, so he should have just done both games. That's how they did it in the early days and we liked it that way, dammit!
-
Couple of nice pitches by Ponson there.
