Got to vote for the Earl Of Baltimore! The man who MADE arguing with umpires a sport in itself, and innovated many of the techniques you see used today by the likes of Lou Pinnela and Lloyd Mcllendon. Oh and he managed some damn fine teams as well of course!
-
All the more reason for Torre to have named Mora to the team. He could have been recognized as an all star for his first half of play and then since he's injured, Torre could have replaced him on the active roster with whoever else he wanted. No excuse why this didn't happen.

So, I guess you can give your official predictions until tommorow morning at 9 at which point we'll know who it is and we can discuss it and make sarcastic remarks. My prediction is Edwards.

What a humanitarian And you know what I mean, I meant Soriano united with the rest of the Yankees infield...

Saw this in Scott Keith's blog. It's kind of stupid but it got a chuckle from me. http://bigmixup.com/rockpapersaddam/

Oh, so you guys are already talking about it here. Well whatever I started a thread because its important enough to deserve its own topic. Yeah I'm pissed Mora got snubbed too (he's more worthy than RONNIE BELLIARD....jesus what's with the FOUR Indians anyway and 5th (a part time DH) up for the fan vote anyway?). Frank Thomas and Bobby Abreu are the choices most obvious in the fan ballot. In a perfect world Miggy Tejada would be starting but fans are stupid and have heard of Jeter and Nomar and will vote for them. No use complaining, but I would love to take away fan voting and change it to a compromise system where the fans get to vote in 1 player from each team. That way it gets that stip out of the way and then let the players/managers/sports writers/GMs vote on the rest of the team like the HOF, and the manager can decide the starting lineup...

NL is Bobby Abreu, Steve Finley, Jason Kendell, Juan Pierre and Aramis Ramirez. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/events/a.../final_vote.jsp As an Orioles fan, I'm pissed Melvin Mora (.347 12 43) , even though hurt didn't make the team or wasn't at least selected for the final fan voting (Travis Hafner!? Don't the Indians have enough all stars for such a mediocre team?) Nice to see the entire Yankees infield is reunited for the game (although that's more the fans fault than Torre's). Oh, and Thomas and Konerko are both worthy of the fan vote but I can't be the only one to think MLB put them both on to split the vote and assure the even more likely vote in for another beloved Yankee, Hideki Matsui (remember, you can vote in Japanese!)

This couldn't have gone in the IMPACT! thread? What was the point of posting this? Do you know even a little Spanish? Did it occur to you that maybe the viewer might wonder more why there was a guy wearing pajamas and a mask running around a hexagon with a guy licking and sniffing the ropes?

Are you questioning his patriotism?
-
Are you Saddam's speechwriter or something?

I got to agree, Kotz was quite a hypocrite right there with they way he's been on a witchhunt for Mike's banning for "flaming" when he just went ahead a threw an unwarranted flame at Mike that I don't think Mike has ever approached. Seriously, if you can't argue your position without throwing a tantrum and telling someone "Fuck you and I hope you burn in hell" you should stay out of the folder, or atleast not go whining that others are flaming you. Oh, and I must say did anyone else think of our favorite Vietnam Veteran who also happens to be running for president every time he said "questioning my patriotism"?

This is not a good precedent. The FCC indeed was setup to protect the public good, and whether you think they're boring or irrelevant, they're an important part of our history and civic duty, and they should be covered. Yes, there are cable channels covering them, but not everyone has cable, and those who only have over the air, especially those with lower incomes that can't afford cable, should not be exluded from an important part of our electoral process.

Cosby for president of the NAACP. I'm serious. Talk about not holding back. It's like having a losing sports team, sometimes you need a coach who will give you a kick in the ass and not sugarcoat what's wrong with the team and motivate them to improve and start winning. I'm actually shocked Jesse Jackson backed him up...

Hey, the price to play the game... yeah I understand, I just think it is hilarious and kind of ironic that people would rather have their politicians put on the religious facade, and have them ham it up in a church, then attend to more important things. Welcome to America. Personally I don't give a flying crap if a guy is religious, if he believes in god or he even knows what page whatever verse is in the bible. But sadly, plenty do give a crap. They can talk the talk all they want. When they walk the walk, then I've give them props. Until then, I will consider them sniveling, opportunistic politicians. I don't think anyone should doubt Bush's sincerity when it comes to his religion, in fact many use it to blast him. Kerry on the other hand...I honestly doubt his sincerity on ANY issue...

Hey, the price to play the game...

Really, this works both ways. You pretty much have to mobilize the churches on both sides if you don't want to be percieved as an evil satanist with no soul by the many religious voters (in both parties) in this country.

bumping this thread because it's most relevant and I'm not so egocentric as to start up a new thread about myself. Anyway, with election talk heating up, I started thinking "am I really registered"? Some of you might be thinking, wait a minute, I thought you registered, as a Dem in fact? In this very thread I said I filled out a form when I got my drivers license a couple year back to pre-register (and for it to go in effect when I was 18), and registered Democrat since I hadn't really aquired much of a political affiliation yet and my family are Dems. And then I just forgot about it, assumed when I was 18 it'd be official (I'm 19 now). Well.... I first became suspicious during the primary season when my parents were recieving all this junk in the mail from the party, yet I wasn't. They also recieved forms for voting locations...I didn't. I pretty much knew something was up there, but I decided I wasn't going to vote in the primary anyway once Jomentum ran out and Crazy Howie wasn't there to give the ole' sabotage vote. So I chalked it up to some error and forgot about it. Well finally today I got around to calling the local election board, and sure enough....SWERVE~! they have no record of me at all. I never was a Democrat this whole time! JR: Son of a bitch. King: I can't believe it JR! So....I'm going to print out the form soon and hopefully get officially registered already. I'm thinking I'll probably just go Independent since the Dems disgust me and I don't know if Im quite ready to throw my hat in with the REAL evil empire lol2004~! quite yet. (But hey KKK, I guess this means any doubts you once had about my rank in the KKKonservative Brigade can be quelled ) But hell, I'm willing to be bought. So if reps from both major parties would like to try to woo me to join them, here is the place. That's right Dems, I want to hear about how it's gonna rain this weekend all to line George W.'s blood soaked pockets (I'm looking at you INXS). And for you 'pubs, be sure to let me know how the President can heal the sick with his mighty staff (I'm looking at you Marney....um....Marney....hey where'd she go?) So go ahead. PIMP YOUR PARTY!
-
I mean, we're talking about PRACTICE here. Not a game, PRACTICE. =Allan Iverson.
-
I served in Vietnam! =John Ke... Oh, wait...you guys stopped. Great, I'm late for the KKKonservative Brigade's activity night again....damnit it's the traffic out there, all to line George W.'s pockets...
-
Mike, surely you made this up, eveyone knows France is a much more tolerant country than the USA....
-
And it just goes to show you, that this isn't about religion since they don't give a damn about a fellow Muslim. ...darn it, I got ketchup on my shirt...all to line Bush's pockets.

Guys, this is huge. Did you know that Dick Cheney, are current Vice President, used to be CEO of Haliburton? The SAME Haliburton handling the contracts in Iraq RIGHT NOW. And now billions of dollars go missing. This is scary stuff, and it has become abundantly clear that we only went into Iraq so Haliburton can steal money, funnel it to the man on the inside, Cheney, who uses it to build George W. a bigger ranch. INXS, you genius!
-
How about we send him to live with you?
-
I haven't read the thread besides Mike's first post, but if this ends up being true, Kerry has officially lost my vote. Although I take up the conservative side most of the time here, I still considered myself on the fence until the elections (and I did register as a Democrat, not that it means much to me), but if Hillary Clinton, the swarmy, socialist, elitist publicity hound is the VP candidate there is no way I will vote for Kerry's ticket, and I imagine there are MANY others on the fence and other Dems who will feel the same way. And remember, I liked Bill, but she is possibly my least favorite politician and I will not vote for her to be one step away from the Presidency...

Again --- do you believe O'Reilly when he says that he's independent? Because I take Moore's claim as seriously as O'Reilly's. -=Mike ...Hell, Moore is likely a Socialist... Actually, coincidentally Moore admitted on O'reilly's show last year as a guest that he WAS a socialist when asked and claimed that the government should be able to tax us at a 70% rate. How's that for tying a couple subjects together? Oh, and wait, wait, wait....I might have missed something? Is Michael Moore fat? C'mon, next thing you'll tell me, John Kerry was the head of Haliburton....
