The Starrcade DVD set has a not-seen-on-24/7 documentary. It's only 45 minutes but it's a nice bit of history (though a lot of it seemed culled together from previous interviews). I do think it marks one of the only times you'll see an officially released WWE DVD paint WWE as bad guys though (they bring up the Survivor Series 1987 deal and how cable companies were bullied into choosing that show in order to get Mania IV).

Vince: Cousin Sieone looks to me the more 'Barbaric' of the group. Savage: What do you mean by that comment? Vince: Well, look at him. Savage: Good point. Vince with the meta-humour.

Tell us what you really think. On the subject of the new Priceless music: Knowing that I usually end up liking changed music I initially hate (I think Jeff Hardy's theme is great now), I tried to listen for aspects of it I would grow to like in the future... some exist, but I still miss the one they were using. The first version lacked energy, but this had a thumping "dunna-dunna dunna-dunna dunna-dunna PRICELESS" beat to it when it started that I now miss.

What the HELL is up with Vince's pop-culture laced commentary on the "Royal Raw" from 1994? It's borderline insane.

My system is finally back to normal after giving me half of today's update last week. The missing pieces ("Royal Raw", NWA, Unforgiven) showed up today with nothing else from the future. Still missing KOTR 96 though. -
I thought Evan Bourne might make a surprise return at the Rumble, but it sounds like he still needs the boot on until February.

Woah woah 229 posts, you're not supposed to know about this stuff.

Props to Jack Zio's sarcastic comment about how even in victory TSM was playing the Punk burial card. Scroby: He won the ECW title more than a year ago (September 2007), but he held it until January 22, 2008 so in terms of holding gold, yes, at four different points in the past 365 days Punk held a different title.

Comparing the ECW title to the European and CW title sounds about right, so hooray Grand Slam Winner CM Punk. If you ignore the fact there's two midcard, two tag, and two world titles now, Jericho had them all beat once WCW's CW title lineage overtook the LHW title lineage, making him the only guy to hold all 5 titles. These long overruns are killing me - I gotta catch the bus to work! I shut the TV off and left just as Orton was coming out so I missed the whole thing. I'll set the DVR to record the end of the Raw replay tomorrow afternoon. The JBL/HBK angle is very good, so that was enjoyable, and Punk/Regal was fun stuff too. They obviously cut all other match times down to Sub-Impact times in an effort to try and fit the Vince thing in, and even then it didn't fit, but overall not a bad show (which I'm sure I would have enjoyed a lot more had I actually seen the ending). That was also nice of WWE to put the Obama thing in the MLK opening considering a lot of the economic panic within WWE is based on the fact Vince feels things are going to get worse since the Republicans didn't win. DCH: Do you want to try toning it down a bit?

Poor Owen Hart (in regards to the 40 man on Prime Time). He's on his way to the ring and in the order of the names, he gets announced as Dwayne Gill. The Velocity match is very good, specifically at the point it's down to 3 guys, then even better when it's just two.

I'll go: Ok, got that joke out of the way. Carry on.

Gordy Howe. And to answer tod's question, no, I don't believe he does.
-
Well, sadly, that won't happen very often.

6 days before the Royal Rumble, Raw will be war when William Regal vs. CM Punk: Round 3 for the IC title goes down with No DQs! Will this one end decisively, or with a count-out? In what one hopes is the thirlling conclusion to their feud, Rey Mysterio better bring the best of his swashbuckling offense when he goes one on one with Big Bully Busick Mike Knox. More important than any of that, Vince McMahon makes his return to TV! Will be give away more money? What of Stephanie's reign of terror and her decision to fire Chris Jericho? Find out the answers to all this and more tonight at 9:15 pm Canada time on The Score!

Besides all the other aspects of guy culture previously mentioned (cars, football, etc.) that I'm not that interested in, strip clubs is right up there. I have nothing against naked women (at least not as often as I'd like) and it's not a moral high ground (though I often act like it is), I just hate being nagged and pestered or spoken to. Dance on stage and shut up, I don't want you begging me for money for a private dance. Cover charges and overpriced drinks are things I can do without too (though since I'm not a big drinker, that doesn't matter that much). I suppose I could have just said "clubs" or bars in general - people acting up, crowding small floor spaces... the whole deal. Not my thing. A lot of that comes from my introverted anti-social nature. To tie the two together, I have a good group of friends who enjoyed both of the above (especially since one worked as a DJ at two different local clubs and now works the bar at Zanzibar in Toronto) and I rarely tagged along with them. If they went to pick the DJ friend up after his shift, I waited in the car. They left a party to go to a strip club in June, I patiently waited for them to return for the poker tournament. Whenever another friend in the Niagara region has a big BBQ, he always excitedly gets people to go to some nearby club while I stay at the house and watch something from his DVD collection. Now, we DID have various random weekend and/or going away parties that brought us to bars/clubs in 2007 that I quite enjoyed and while I've probably described myself as a boring person, I can actually be pretty funny and outgoing when I'm with a large group of people I know / am getting to know and have had some mixed drinks in me. This is really the exception to the rule though - if one dude were to say "let's go to the bar tonight!", I'd have to pass. If a GROUP of people planned an outing (meaning I'd likely always be able to be around someone I knew), I'd be for that. I much prefer house parties though.

The 21st. Several weeks away (February 25th). Some cable companies seem to struggle with updates that aren't the standard Tuesday night / Wednesday morning fair. -
From inside the pages of the F4W Online website, here's UPDATE with Lord Alfred Hayes an update at the alleged "6 disc" edition of the LOW set:

Quite the display in that Aladdin sketch. I thought the episode was fine, but that could be because as soon as I see a skit is going to have Kristin acting stupid or no English dialogue, the DVR gets put on FFx4. DA LEARN'IN TRRAIN!

What will be the worst movie of 2009?
DrVenkman PhD replied to Obi Chris Kenobi's topic in Television & Film
How come it has nothing to do with the Dragonball universe? Isn't it going to be the story of Goku and the gang that was told in the Dragonball cartoons? Of course, he does look nothing like kid Goku. I'd prefer a Dragonball Z movie to it as well. I think it's a movie I might end up liking just cause. Like Mortal Kombat. It does have something to do with the Dragonball Universe.. it has the characters and the Dragonballs.. but it just doesn't follow the same plot as the anime. And why would it follow the exact same canon of the anime? When does a live action version of a cartoon, videogame, comic ever follow exact canon? Hardly ever. I still don't understand why people get upset about that. It's movie canon, it's going to be different, get over it. Also, it's called Dragonball: Evolution. I agree. Look at Dark Knight for an example. It is so different from The Long Halloween (the story that inspired it), they don't even bother saying it was based off of it. On the other hand, the Dragonball trailer is so awful it makes it look like an Uwe Boll movie, so I don't exactly have high hopes for it for different reasons. The Dragonball anime won't work in live action without changes. You can't have a little kid getting the crap kicked out of him by grown men, aliens and demons without it being simply disturbing. And that's without the talking animals and dinosaurs. If they make a film that has the Videl / Spopovich fight in it, I'm there. Otherwise, not so much. I am interested to see how Marsters does Piccolo though, but I'll wait until it's on TV next year. Hah, I remember that. It was one of the most disturbing fights from the series, especially with Gohan having to watch his girlfriend be nearly beat to death. If this does well, and a sequel gets made, I hope they jump into Goku vs Vegeta. That would at least be a fun special effects showcase. I just watched it for the first time in probably 7 years or so yesterday, it's still pretty cringe-worthy. Also, I had no idea there was a new DBZ animated special - http://www.jumpland.com/animetour/db/index_en.html -

Those matches are being put onto DVD so they'll last forever? Dear lord. Vince Russo winning the world title shouldn't be put onto DVD, the masters of that should be burned. And that boxing match was really, really, really bad. IIRC it went beyond laughably bad into just bad bad bad. The idea of the "Heatseekers" roundtable was to yap about people everyone hates, so this selection is the worst of the worst just to make a point, I would assume.
