  1. OK, being the hard working reporter I am, I made some inqueries and was given this answer: "I'm guessing first as legit, and him saying fraud to protect the guy at this point since WWE thinks they know who it is" - Meltz
  2. But this means Meltzer got played too... OR DOES IT?
  3. I've been thinking for years now that classic arenas should be in the game. It's cool to see that the Trump Plaza is in WM XIX. Anyway, maybe for WrestleMania XX, some of the better or unique Mania sets - ESPECIALLY WM IX. I think WrestleMania III, VIII, IX, X, XIV, and 2000 would look good as hidden, "Anniversary" Arenas in WM XX for the Cube. They did create an arena in Attitude, it was somewhat interesting. One of the things I sorely miss from SmackDown 1 was creating your own PPV that was rated. The create a PPV in SD!2 took forever to book due to loading and had no crowd rating, thus was a complete waste of time.
  4. For those who care but don't care enough to get the Observer: Rey/Matt: **1/4 Taker/Show & Train: *1/4 Trish/Jazz/Victoria: **1/4 Team Angle/Los Guerreros/Benoit & Rhyno: *** Michaels/Jericho: ****1/4 Helmsley/Booker: ***1/4 Hogan/McMahon: *** Austin/Rock: **** Angle/Lesnar: ****1/4 And he said the show was "phenomenal" and probably the second best WM ever Credit: Matt on the DeathValleyDriver.com board
  5. I found a SmackDown from 2001 (before the Rumble I think.. Angle was champion) featuring Jackie vs. Crash and Angle vs Kane (Angle did Buff Blockbuster.. it was neat). I also found a tape featuring assorted Superstars, Challenges, and Cavalcades (from CHCH here in Ontario) from 1993 that were a good trip back in time. The big surprise on that tape was Scott Steiner using a Dragon Fucking Suplex on an episode of Superstars. Rick followed it up with a sick looking release German suplex. Watching the opening video package for Cavalcade also made me realize how well executed moves looked on jobbers (where similar moves, like the Tombstone, are generally slowed down a bit on "real" wrestlers). Was the idea in the company "work as stiff as you want, they don't mind and they're expendable if they get injured"?
  6. IIRC, HHH's music at Backlash was the generic theme Bull Buchanan later used around and at KOTR 2000.
  7. Damn.. even if I wanted to go to the bar to watch this weeks offering, they gave up their court battle (fatal car accident being blamed on them) and have closed down. Damn.
  8. Hey Tim, unrelated to the thread, but I like your new El Dandy format over on 411, especially your random match review. You don't see things like that in many columns *cough*SHADESOFGRYAMATHCOFTHEDAY*cough you know? In all seriousness, I think it's neat that the two last hired Smarks both write columns that feature a match review. More to the nature of the thread, I noticed the bar I go to for WWE PPV's shows TNA on Wednesday's now, but the Dusty Rhodes ladder match, Bart Gunn, a possible Viscera appearance, and Harris Brothers vs. New Jack and Sandman is keeping me far away from checking it out this week.
  9. Well my attempts to be first with the news by coming with a 1w style headline (ie hinting what it is instead of saying what it is in the topic) appears to be a flop as BoboBrazi's second thread is more popular. Well played, Bobo. While you were not first, I ended up being last.
  10. Thanks Downhome. I was in a rush to be the first to break the news to the forums, and as a result didn't take the time to quote the news. Bobo did and his post wasn't first!
  11. Bah, the only that matters is ME... My Enjoyment.
  12. Jericho and Goldberg got into a fight which ended with both rolling on the floor throwing loose, non connecting punches.
  13. Isn't that countdown for Chris Hyatte?
  14. But of course knowing 1wrestling, it won't be anything big: "Also, we are working on a story about something that may have happened at Raw last night. If we can corroborate it, we will report it later" Also in the news post, WrestleMania XX is apparently on March 14th, which Scherer mentions is rather early even though a year ago no one cared that the show was on the 17th.
  15. I don't think Marty vs Shawn at the Rumble is that great, especially compared to the alleged ***** 1993 MOTY from Raw (which sadly, I've never seen) that isn't even on his list. Maybe he made a mix up, or maybe as a Canadian like me he's never seen it.
  16. Personally, I was upset he came back as Kevin Nash as I was looking forward to Diesel... even though they're the same person.
  17. From WWE.com And there you have it. I'm really enjoying Edge's columns.
  18. In theory, having the biggest roster around is good on paper, but in all my time with SYM I can't say I've ever used Chuck, Billy, Mark Henry, Rikishi, or Torrie Wilson more than once or ever, so maybe trimming the fat (no pun intended with 2 of the names in there) wouldn't be a bad idea. As someone already said, the CAW features in No Mercy were great. You had entrance attire and 3 other slots for different outfits, and that is needed in future games. I also think, just like WCW Revenge up to No Mercy, a wrestlers attire should be allowed to be edited. It's kind of silly that people have to post HBK CAw Forumlas when he's already in the game, but he doesn't wear wrestling tights in the game so what can you do. Also, when I was playing Pride, I noticed the fake CAW music didn't, you know, sound liek cheesy fake video game music. The "Original Themes" really need to sound better. Also, space providing, they should throw in themes for the hell of it. "Real American" was a nice touch in SYM, but where was the dX music? I think maybe replacing "Original Theme" with classic, no longer used WWE or WCW theme music would be a good idea.
  19. I don't have a Raw recap anywhere, but a new Shades of Gray should be up Thursday with some Raw thoughts, and the "Match of the Day" review might be from a 1998 Raw! Good recap, JHawk. Going to read Bob's now.
  20. East Jennifer Connelly South Sarah Michelle Gellar Midwest Kirsten Dunst Southeast Alyssa Milano West Jennifer Love Hewitt (Screw Canadian pride for now) Northeast Salma Hayek Southwest (aka "The Diva Bracket") Stacy Kiebler (Screw Canadian pride for now Part 2) North Natalie Portman (Lose already, J-Lo! You ain't all that!)
  21. God bless wrestlers with a sense of humour.
  22. They probably never will transfer Rock/HHH Ironman to DVD due to that logo crap. Although, and I could be wrong, I believe if they only release it in the US they don't have to blur them. You just know one of the extra Desert Heat matches is the one where Trish was thrown off the stage into the mud pool.
  23. As for your other questions, I think he'd have some good 20 minute X-Division spotfests, but he won't carry the promotion to new heights. ECW is dead, after all. He'll probably increase buyrates though.
  24. I hate to beat a dead horse here, but again, I must point out I HIGHLY doubt Willie the Worker would sign these "Sincerely, Rob Van Dam". These are anonymous e-mails (to the best of my knowledge) that Scherer took a gamble on posting because Meltzer, before figuring it was legit, refused to post an anonymous letter.
