Bobby Lashley makes MMA debut on December 13th...
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Yeah I heard about him being 177 in college, but I still expected with how juiced he got in pro wrestling for him to stay at that weight. -

I'm more shocked about the fact that he's hovering around 205 lbs. -

Kang has improved a ton in his striking, and is going to make a serious run in the UFC Middleweight division. People are going to be surprised, and I've been as vocal a critic as any in the past. -
WEC 37: Torres vs. Tapia
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I still Torres will win, but there's no reason for Tapia to be any worse off than +250 or 260. He's not anymore outgunned than Maeda, who was soundly defeated but put up a helluva fight. I think Tapia is far more dangerous. -

Pretty solid card, every fight on there is pretty intriguing. I hope Jeremy has been working on his standup. -
WEC 37: Torres vs. Tapia

Odds are out for this one: Manny Tapia +420 Miguel Torres -550 Brian Bowles -120 Will Ribeiro -110 Akitoshi Tamura +255 Wagnney Fabiano -315 Cub Swanson -205 Hiroyuki Takaya +165 Danny Martinez +225 Joseph Benavidez -285 Johny Hendricks -310 Justin Haskins +250 Mark Munoz -410 Ricardo Barros +330 Blas Avena -165 Kevin Knabjian +135 Cole Province +175 Diego Nunes -215 Alex Karalexis +220 Bart Palaszewski -280 Mike Budnik +170 Shane Roller -210 I think Bowles, Tapia, and Takaya are all undervalued here. I think Munoz is overvalued, but then I don't know much about Barros. -

LOL I saw it, you're right it was really fucked up. I would like to know the origin of this. -

TJ Grant is overhyped, don't forget he did lose to Jesse Bongfeldt earlier this year. -
As a Canadian, I take offense to you putting, out of all the possible candidates, the fucking Miracle on Ice squad as the best hockey team. As an intelligent person I'd feel the same way. U.S. Olympic team? Really? With all those Habs, Oilers, Red Wings, etc. teams to choose from?

Oh man, Rogers is going to get destroyed. HUGE step up in competition for him right there. -

I would love to see Liddell vs. Brock, it would be like the 2001 Invasion, but a million times better. -
Jon Fitch, Christian Wellisch and possibly others cut by UFC

Pff, that's just an excuse to pimp Enson. Stupid move by UFC here, Dana's been accused of power-tripping and this is actually a legitimate case of that in my opinion. -
UFC 94 - Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn II
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Mik's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
The grappling thing. Not trying to be a dick, but you've made outlandish statements in this thread for the sole purpose of being a dick, so I thought you were being sarcastic in order to prove some point that I missed. Anyway, he was a grappling phenom blah blah blah first american black belt, first to reach it in four years blah blah first american to win the bjj championships at the black belt level. Basically a legit grappler before there was any talk of MMA. But the guy was always a fighter, and wanted to make the jump into MMA. So he did something unprecedented at the time, especially since the Zuffa era had just started; he made his pro debut in the UFC. While he was still just a grappler who got all striking training from street fights until he actually made his MMA debut, he still managed to knock out Din Thomas and Kaoru Uno in two of his first three fights. Two solid professionals like that is crazy considering he was a 22 year old kid at the time, who was just supposed to be a "grappler". Anyway, he got over-confident vs. Jens Pulver, learned from it and you know the rest. -

Agreed, he never seems to understand the significance of weight class moving, especially in terms of its effects on P4P rankings. -

Yeah but logic dictates your coach wouldn't let you have a professional fight if you couldn't take a punch. -

If he wins I'd still like to see it but it would never happen now that they train together. -

It's the only way to make it a five round fight. With two guys like this, the level they're at, I think they deserve it. It's the same reason GSP/Hughes III was for an interim title. -
What's the point they're trying to make here?

It's about seven years, a missed weight class and a failed organization too late.

I heard the Masvidal and GOmi decisions were horrible on the forums, but on all the news sites they don't mention any kind of controversy at all. Anybody here who saw it would be able to clarify? -

The more I think about it the more I feel Randy's two big wins were not so legit. Gonzaga has been exposed as a bit of a pussy since that fight, and Sylvia might have been injured for real? I am not sure, but I'm starting to doubt the Natural more and more. Which is good, because that's when he thrives
