I would have guessed that you wouldn't be the type to listen to Christian music, but I haven't even heard of a Christian metal band. Care to throw some names out? POD does *not* count. That's not really metal anyways...
-
I know I'm probably one of the few Christians on the board, although I haven't made the point to be well-known. So basically, anyone else here into any of the music? I know it probably sucks to many of you, but to me it holds sentimental value for all the obvious reasons. Some of it actually is pretty decent music that you would listen to whether it was Christian or not, but much of the time that's not the case. Most of the stuff is guilty pleasure for me though. Jars of Clay have a pretty big following, what else are the other Christians on the board into? Oh yeah, can't forget the worship music. I like some of it, but even than, it has nothing to do with the music, but rather the message. What do y'all think?

Man, I get sick and tired of people not being able to actually DEFEND their music, and just point out that I "hate them because they're popular". Most people share this attitude until they actually, you know, LISTEN to something that you don't hear on the radio. Contrary to what most people in this thread have said, technique has very little to do with how good the music is. It's like workrate in wrestling; very easy to point out and admire, but you've really only scratched the surface. There's so much more to appreciate, right as soon as you go past being in awe of the Rock really running the ropes fast, or Eddie Van Halen going at like a bazillion miles an hour. I'm actually going to write an article trying to break all this stuff down, and post it up, but it should take me awhile. Hopefully it goes better than the last two did. With all that being said, I should point out that Linkin Park still sucks. The production values are standard glossed over crap, the lyrics are extrememly bland and boring, and to top it all off they have a bunch of crappy power chord riffs that haven't been done before by all those crappy nu metal bands, and better if you could believe that. When you're faux-nu metal, you know you suck.

I know, just saying. I got nothing...

I think the ones that get the best reactions are girls that are borderline, and I Would with EvilHomer's picture. If you're gonna bump the thread, might as well bump it with a picture: http://personals.yahoo.com/display?ct_hft=...2929-032304&b=1

Dames is reading this thread, so I'm assuming both a banning and a closing of the thread is in order.

Phil Collins is pure shite, and I am still surprised as to how he can have so many fucking specials on VH1 and the like, declaring him just short of a musical genius.

He's Australian right? Or is he British? I don't remember... I had just assumed that everyone ripped into him, because it was en vogue for music critics stateside in 2002, as nothing was easier.

Dave Dymond has an article on the main site? I didn't see it, unless it was posted long ago, and is now wiped off the main page..

The hell? This totally came out of left field. When did it go from "out for a year" to "out forever"? Also, what's the difference between wrestling on Smackdown and wrestling at Wrestlemania? -

I'd say the Velvet Underground and the Pixies are up there, but I'll let Pitchfork tell you how it is.... "On the scale of human accomplishments, turning out a classic album ought to rank up there with climbing Mount Everest. Stoned. With one leg. And no oxygen. Given the infinite potential for obnoxious excess within the Rock genre, it's no small feat to assemble an album that's so well phrased, so deftly stated, that its impact extends far beyond the realm of the audible. Turn out two or more such albums and you're headed for legendary status. Turn out five or six and you're R.E.M." -
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to, So that when they turn their backs on you, You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

What I meant was, those percentages were looked upon as an actual grade. They never gave anything but a percentage (Which is probably the best way to go about it), but if you were to have an average of 85, you would say you pretty much had an 'A' average. It makes the standards a little higher, as since there is more room to get an A, obtaining that 80% is a different story. On top of that, if you go to a school where you deserve a B and are given an 84 (like certain systems pointed out in this thread), you would be getting a higher mark for less intelligence, or something. Whatever, a PC is like a Replubican, or close to it. An outright Republican is the Canadian Alliance, with Stockwell Day. That guy was a loser.

71 is a D-??? That sounds fucked up, because from what I always understood an 80+ is A, 70-79 is B, 60-69 is C, a 50-59 is a D, and anything below is an F where you failed and you actually had to take the course again. I've never heard of getting a 70 and failing a course because of it. Anyways, I never tried in Grade nine and ten, and didn't really understand the "system". Now that I'm in grade 11, I think I could pull a 90 average. I'd like to echo Spiff's sentiments, and how you should show the paper to the prof. It's always worth a shot.

I already steal and lie and stuff, so the next step up would be killing I guess. I couldn't kill certain people, but I can always find a way to justify anything it is that I do.. -

Yay! Bump up the Bowling For Columbine post in the Movies folder, and glad to hear you liked the review. I meant that's what I *thought* their fanbase was like, and I wrote later on that I was wrong. I also want to hear about the people that hate them, and also what you thought of the review... -
Encino Man is a movie that I still enjoy watching to this day, really don't know why. Brendan Fraser movies are a guilty pleasure for whatever reason. Orgazmo was pretty funny too.
