    BIG Game Tonight on MNF

Bad Call or not, the thing that lost the game for the Bucs was themselves and only themselves. You blow a 21 point lead with 6 mins to go, than you deserve to lose

The One & Only AFL Finals Thread

Having a meeting halfway through the season about comitting to reaching a three-peat with still a long way to go. They are not have as good a team as they were the past two years. Thoguh I disagree with you on Barry Hall. He is one of the, if not the most inconcistant (sp?) player in the leauge right now. Brisbane wil have their hands full, but it will have less to o with hime and more to do with the other Sydney players. Comparisons to Hall and Tony Lockett which have been made in the past are ludacrous. Losing three Qualifying finals three straight years, the last two going to the team who finished fourth and after having eighteen wins throught the Season. They only have 2 finals wins out of 8 or 9. In order to go to the Grand Final and win it will require them to double their win total, which I can't see happening. Lets not forget where Essendon played the previous week, Only two teams broke the Curse of the west this year (Crows and Lions. The Doggies didnt lose, but didnt win the next week).Haing not seen this weeks teams, this may not happen, but I think Port will make the mistake of putting the guy on Hrd last week, onto Buckley this week. If they do that, which I suspect they will, it will be a major mistake. Buckley and Hird are two different players, and people seem to forget the knock that Hird took from Lade. Garrunted (sp? I cant spell for shit) if that was from a player from the Bulldogs or Saints, he would have got two weeks for it. Getitng back on track, Collignwood are a way better side this year, even better than the team who beat Port in the first week of the finals last year. Woewodin has had a big impact in the second half of the season. He has added an extra depth to their play. Safe to say, I think Collingwoods midfield will eat up Port's, one part because I think they are a better side and also because they ahev had a nice long break, whereas Post had a hell of a battle against Sydney and they faced a tough Essendon side in the rain last week. Therefore as I said earlier I think it will be a Collignwood/Sydney Grand final, in a repeat of what happened last year, 2nd and 4th winning their Qualifying and Preliminaries and with 2nd wining the Grand Final. On a side note, it will be interesting to see the Footy Show tonight and to see what Eddie says about Mark Williams comments during the week. I think Eddie cops a lot more than he deserves/ In his time at Collingwood he has done more good for the club since they won the Grand Final in 1990 and for people who say he has a conflict of intrest, they seem to be the same people who froget that alot of the time it has been Sam and Trevor who wind him up about Collingwood.

The One & Only AFL Finals Thread

Being Victorian and because half of my family support them, I want to see Collingwood go through to the Grand Final and win it, and I think they have a better chance against Sydney. I highly doubt that Port can come over and beat Collingwood, mainly because they will choke. They can delude themselves and think thy got over the choking in the finals, but they have not, 2 from 9 finals is a poor record and I do not think it will improve. sysdney has a great chance to beat Brisbane, because they have had the wood over themm all year and it does not look like it will change. Brisbane will go into the game way too arrogant and will be suprised when they get to Telstar Stadium. I was at the Collignwood vs Sydney game there in Round 18 and the crowd really lifted them and I think that will get them through the to Grand Final. My Brownlow Medal Prediction is Nathan Buckley. But knowing the AFL and its umpires, it will probably go to a Brisbane player, and if that does happen, it will be the only three-peat they achive this year. so in final my prediction is a Collingwood -vs- Sydney Grand Final with Collingwood winning

    Joey Porter Shot

DENVER (Aug. 31, 2003) -- Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter was seriously wounded when he was among six people shot outside a bar following the Colorado-Colorado State football game. Porter was in serious condition after being shot in the buttocks, but the injury wasn't life-threatening, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. One of the other victims died, Jackson said. Porter, 26, was not involved in any confrontation. The All-Pro linebacker, a five-year veteran, is a Colorado State graduate. "He was an innocent bystander. There was no confrontation or altercation that we know of at this time," said Jackson. Jackson said the shots were fired from outside a fenced-in parking lot where the victims were standing just before 2 a.m. James Greer, manager of the All Sports Bar & Grill in northeast Denver, said everyone had left the bar at the time of the shooting. "Joey had been to the game and he came down here to patronize our business. This is very sad. I hope it doesn't interfere with his playing," Greer said. He said there had been no fights or arguments before the shooting. One of the victims, Kendal Johnson, was a bar employee. He was treated and released. The dead man was identified as Christopher Wilford, 28. Steelers coach Bill Cowher said the team would not place Porter on injured reserve, which would sideline him for the season. "The bullet entered his left buttocks and is lodged in his right thigh," Cowher said. "All the preliminary tests are being done and, at this time, it looks as though the bullet did not hit any vital organs. He is resting comfortably in the hospital and we are in the process of ... trying to fly him back here (Monday)." Cowher did not speculate how long Porter would be out. Losing Porter for a substantial period would be a major blow to a defense that was the NFL's best in 2001 and ranked seventh overall last season. "Joey's going to be fine; he'll be back," Cowher said. "He's a special guy and he'll be back." Clark Haggans, who played mostly as a rush end in the Steelers' dime defense last season, likely will start Pittsburgh's season opener Sept. 7 against Baltimore. Haggans also is a former Colorado State player. Cowher talked to Porter and said the linebacker was distraught over getting hurt with the season about to start. The Steelers otherwise came through the preseason with no serious injuries. "He's as well as can be expected. He feels like he's let the football team down. He was really emotional," Cowher said. Porter, a third-round draft pick in 1998, played in his first Pro Bowl last season. He became the first player since sacks became an official statistic in 1982 to have nine sacks and four interceptions in one season. Considered one of the league's best all-around linebackers, Porter also had two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles last season. Against Oakland in the second game of 2002, Porter made 10 solo tackles, had three sacks and intercepted two passes, earning him AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. "Joey's like a Broadway showman," Haggans said during training camp. "If he has any ability in something he likes to show it. He wants everyone to see it, like it." credit: NFL.com, AP

    NFL quarterback battles

Bears: Kordell Stewart- Why bring him in if he isn't going to start? Ravens: Chris Redman- Give him one more chance Bengals: Jon Kitna- Played well enough towards the end of the season Browns: Tim Couch- Was at least solid enough last year to build the team up to a playoff birth Cowboys: Quincy Carter- More mobile of the two which are otherwise even Dolphins: Brian Griese- StartBrianGriese.comis all I need to say Jaguars: Mark Brunell- No need to rush Leftwhich with Brunell still on the roster Panthers: Rodney Peete- Solid Redskins: Patrick Ramsey- While still young, is better than Johnson Rams: Kurt Warner- Absolute no-brainer here. He was injured last year and should be back to top form this year

The Biggest Draft goofs of all time?

Could you really call the 49ers passing up on Plummer that bad a move. Sure Druckenmiller sucked ass for the 49ers, they still had Young, and than Garcia took over from him. Say they had have taken Plummer and he took over from Young instead of Garcia, and he had the exact same run at the 49ers he had in Arizona, and left the 49ers. Sure Druckenmiller may not have had the impact the 49ers would have liked, it is no real goof seeing as though they are in a better situation having taken him, even though Druckenmiller did jack all really at SF. They have one of the better QBs in the NFL is Garcia, who may have never been in that position had Druckenmiller not been taken, rather than a hot and cold QB who has only ever thrown more TDs than INTs one season. Garcia, In 2 less seasons has thrown for 4 more TDs and half the INTs that Plummer did. Edit: Whoops, Wrong Quote
