I really like the Barrett stuff. As you can tell by my sig, I'm a big Syd fan. The rough, experimental sound is what I dig. Everything from Piper to Meddle is classic. I wouldn't really call Obscured by Clouds experimental. It's just your basic Rock N'Roll soundtrack, filled with pretty good songs and a couple KILLER tunes, eg. "Free Four" and "Wot's, uh the Deal?". 
  
The more polished stuff of the mid to late 70's is also REALLY good, but sometimes I think it's a little overproduced. Don't get me wrong, I still love The Floyd but they got studioized(is that even a word) when Dark Side of the Moon took off. 
  
The post Waters era is ok. I don't like the fact that Dave brought in different songwriters to help him out, but, since he himself admitted to being a shitty lyricist, I can forgive. 
  
By the way, Mark, Waters didn't sing "Have A Cigar." He had intended to, but he was having voice problems, so The Floyd brought in Roy Harper to sing the song.
