Hmmm....really? It's pretty much been accepted that Burkett was gonna do a shit job today against Yankees. So common logic dictates that Wakefield, the only guy that has stifled the Yankees so far, would be ready to get out there if the game looks to be breaking early. Burkett pitched 3 nice innings but knowing him, and his record against the Yankees, you HAD to know it wasn't going to last. As soon as he allowed a baserunner in the fourth, SOMEONE should have been up and warming-up (preferably, Wakefield.) But no, Little chose to sit on his ass and let Burkett pitch against a team that has dominated him various times before. So there, he wound up giving 4 runs and blowing the lead. It's a manager's job to know when it will be time to take out a pitcher. Little didn't do that. Little has also been responsible for some of the stupidest stealing plays I've ever seen. The Red Sox haven't been hitting well against the Yankee pitching. Yet, how many fucking times has Little sent a guy stealing, hoping that Boston will connect. We've had way too many "strike-em-outs, throw-em-outs" that it makes me sick to count them. He's been responsible for killing several rallies in this series, because he has no concept of WHEN someone should steal, and when they should wait to be safely hit home so Boston can come closer to taking the lead. But no, blame Nomar. Never mind there are 8 other hitters on the team. People the caliber of Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Bill Mueller, guys that have been hitting all year. Yes, Nomar has sucked in clutch situations. And yes, he's made mistakes in the field. But there are so many other guys on this team that have failed in the clutch and led to Yankee runs. It is far more ridiculous to blame one guy, in Nomar, than to blame the manager, who has made boneheaded play after boneheaded play. If anyone's to blame, it should be Little.

Forget the Curse of the Bambino. It's the Curse of the TPWW. Gonna keep killing the teams he cheers for until the day he dies. Give me my phone. I'm putting in a call to John Henry. It's time we worry about reversing someone else's curse.
-
This is why I hate Grady Little. Burkett gave you a couple of good innings. Why the fuck isn't Wakefield up and warming up yet? How could you let Burkett, who we all know has a bad reputation against the Yankees, GIVE UP 4 RUNS IN ONE INNING?! God, between Dusty letting Prior do 120 pitches yesterday, and Little obviously forgetting he's a manager and not just someone with a good seat, I'm beginning to think these old guys forget how to fucking think!!
-
What the hell are you still doing up?! Get back to sleep!! This can now be blamed entirely on you, because I don't see any other ball-wanting fans around to blame!!
-
Ah, I don't think anyone even expects Boston to win at this point anymore. Burkett is just an awful pitcher to put against the Yankees. This is one of those games that now nobody seems to care about except for the Yankee fans. Even most of the Boston fans have given up at this point.
-
Do the Marlins even need a curse? There is NO chance in hell they would ever beat the Yankees. HHH cleanly putting over RVD is more realistic than the Marlins beating the Yankees 4 times out of 7. It will never happen. Which is why Fox ratings will plummet. And my argument will be proved correct when I say the Yankees are destructive to baseball.
-
I know I won't be watching; it'd just be too painful. Oh, don't worry. Much of New York won't. The front-running Yankee fans won't. The Mets fans and other fans won't. It will basically be the serious Yankee fans.....which is large, but not enough to save a TV rating. Fox is screwed. Amazing we went from a Cubs/Sox Dream Series to the Marlins/Yankees Series from HELL!
-
GONZO SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IN THAT SITUATION, IF IT WASN'T FOR THAT FAN!! We're obviously disagreeing when it comes to this, and the argument just keeps going round and round to the same points.
-
HELLO! What about those other fans with their hands in the air? So it's not like he was the only one... Are we looking at the same picture? He's the only one whose hands are anywhere close to that ball. but they are all reaching for it aren't they? Not exactly. Only that one guy in the gray jacket looks to even have his hands out and, for all you know, it could have just been a bad pose. Everyone else has a brain and kept their fucking hands away from the ball!!
-
Blame the fan. Again. CHAIN EFFECT. The ball would have been caught. Sosa would have caught the pop-up. 3 outs. Cubs would have clinched. The Cubs got disoriented and, rightfully, pissed off after being screwed over by the fan. Which led to the catastrophe. Surely the Cubs players made mistakes. But the fan LED them to this, and should be blamed first and foremost.
-
Er.....I wouldn't..... ....but then again, I know how to actually think.
-
The fan Caused ONE run...the players caused the other 7. It's a chain effect. If it were not for that fan, there would have been no run scored. Thanks to him, it wound up snowballing to 8 runs. Sure, Gonzalez screwed things up but they shouldn't have been in that situation. The fan caused it with his COMPLETE and UTTER stupidity.....and now he's going to wind up paying for it.
-
Well, let's just pray for what's most important..... That the kid wound up taking the foul ball home. Because if he did, *whew*, that was worth sacrificing the World Series for the Cubs.
-
As if he's still employed. He now has a whole city that officially hates him. His best bet is to take the earliest flight to Florida - NOW!!!
-
It doesn't matter that they took him early. People will find this fan. And people will beat the shit out of him. It's just going to happen - Chicago fans can be fucking nuts.
-
And the most pathetic part is: The Cubs are clearly a better team than the Marlins. Better pitching, better hitting, for the most part - better fielding....but yet, they're now in a 3-3 tie. I can now say I do believe in curses. This was unreal. *Post 600*
-
Be assured, that kid will go down into the Chicago Books of Infamy forever.
-
Buck's a dumbass. I would NEVER do what that fan did. It's called using common FUCKING sense. This is no joke. That fan is going to get the everloving shit beaten out of him tonight. And some cops will look away, because he might have just cost the Cubs the World Series. Damn, pathetic.
-
Damn. What a heartbreaking loss. God damn, if I was a senior in college right now, I'd go to the bar and drink....... ......cause that's what seniors do.
-
Yankees/Marlins World Series......? Hear those ratings? Flushing right down the toilet
-
Damn...... Curse of the Goat ? Real ?
-
Holy shit. That's no joke. That kid could SERIOUSLY get the shit beaten out of him tonight. Wow.... .....not that he doesn't deserve it.
-
I agree. Which is why I don't understand the Yankee fan mentality. They got to the World Series in 96, 98, 99, 00, 01. Won it 4 out of those 5 times. What makes getting into the Series this time any more exciting or amazing? You know how it is to win. You won 3 years in a row. Why the urgent need to get into the Series now and make sure that no other AL baseball fan gets to be excited as you got to be. At a point, you have to wonder if this NY Yankee ~FAN EXCITEMENT~ is just a little bit generated and not as genuine as they would like it to appear. But that's just my little, off-topic rant. Anyway, I'm happy for Cubs fans and hope the Cubs kick some Yankee ass in the playoffs (assuming they win right now) It's time to break at least one curse. GO CUBS!!!

I'm ashamed to admit I laughed at that response.

Well, thank God they didn't ban the Van-Terminator. I mean, while some unpracticed individual using it DID break the other person's foot and all....wait, what's that you say ? The Boss' son ? Oh....nevermind.
