Matt Young.

It's possible. It's not like any team in the NFC West is overwhelmingly strong at this point. Best appearance by an animal at a sporting event? My pick is the bird that Randy Johnson exploded with a pitch. You'd be hard pressed to ever see that occur in a MLB game again.

How fucking dare you!

The "Free PongKong" campaign was a success!

Agreed on those being spoilers. It's been edited. Guys, be considerate. Some of those pictures -- specifically the one posted by Dr. Obrero -- were undoubtedly spoilers.

But it was the pitching that led to the Mets collapse last season. And when you look at the pitching now -- and see that the only changes made were Santana (great change though, obviously) and Matt Wise (ugh) -- it's a foreboding sign. Agreed on the notion that the whole NL East isn't exactly a boon for great pitching, but I'm essentially just as uneasy about the Mets staff this year as I was last.

And according to ESPN, Pedro Martinez is out 4-6 weeks with a mild strained hamstring. I guess the best solution now would be to make Sosa the fifth starter in the rotation but then you have a gaping hole in the terribly weak bullpen -- which is the exact same damn problem we had for the entire season last year. It seems the only change made to the pen was the addition of Matt Wise. And considering Wise allowed two runners on base in his first game with the Mets, and gave up the game-ending homerun to the Marlins in the second game of the season, he has looked just spectacular. Wonderful.

Wow, Czech is doing badly right now....he needs to step his game up.
-
Pedro Martinez getting hurt in the second game of the season is just catastrophic. Now our rotation -- which still looking good with Santana, Maine, and Perez -- is backed by Orlando Hernandez and Mike Pelfrey. I shouldn't be surprised though.

She's being deliberately snarky. Surely nobody here could be accused of referring to Bush or Cheney in less than flattering terms?

Bob, I posted this at The Pit already but I'm posting it here also to explain why I don't think Mike should be welcomed back to TSM.

Marney was never banned. MikeSC WAS banned and he will STAY banned, so there's no discussion there. And yeesh guys, that Jesus discussion lasted for a grand total of seven posts, two of which consisted of "Jesus was a bastard" and "woa woa woa", in a thread that is 4,070 posts deep and growing. I think we all need to take a deep breath. Marney posting here is not a cause for hysteria -- it's really not. As I've said, until myself or another moderator feels she has stepped out of line, action will be taken. I do not yet feel she has stepped out of line, thus, I have taken no action. If you don't want to debate with her, do not. If you don't want to read her posts, feel free to place her on Ignore. But if she's not resorting to personal insults and she's not using racial slurs, then really, there's no damage being done. I am not banning Marney because certain people feel threatened by her forceful demeanor. Be forceful back. As I already said, it's best to learn quickly that not everybody agrees on politics. The world is not a land of gumdrops and lollipops and perfect teamwork, as much as certain people might hope it would be. And neither is the CE Folder.

Where is Janie's Got a Gun? Probably my second favorite Aerosmith song behind Dream On.
-
And Santana nicely worked himself out of a jam by striking out Wood and Ramirez to end the inning. Oooh! The Marlin Manatees.....what a wonderful use of funds.

I always said Uh-Bray-you. Was I wrong all this time??

MySpace. When I was a freshman in college, I was a huge fan of Facebook. But the applications they have since added are such a mess and absolutely clutter profiles. MySpace, while also taking a major step back in my opinion by allowing everybody to make their profiles private, remains a site I tend to check every day or so. Facebook, maybe once every couple of weeks.

Oh, don't get me started on the Milledge trade. The worst move they made since sending away Kazmir. They'll regret that this season.
-
Well, Santana went 1-2-3 in his first inning as a Met with two popups and a strikeout. That's good. And Carlos Delgado popped up with men on second and third with two outs. That's just expected.

Guys, just so we're perfectly clear, it is appropriate to have alternate viewpoints in the Current Events folder. Just as in the real world, some have liberal opinions and some have conservative opinions. While I understand that many of you now aren't used to having Republican posters visit the forums anymore, the mere fact that they are conservative is not a bannable offense. So no, I do not want any more PMs from posters that ask me to take action simply because Cancer Marney is posting in the CE Folder again. As long as flaming is avoided, and people can get along civilly without getting personal and offensive with one another, everything should be just fine. Healthy debate is encouraged. I would hope that if we're grown-up enough to have an opinion on the War in Iraq, then we're grown-up enough to deal with criticism from others who might have a contrasting viewpoint. So yeah, Marney is welcomed back, as is Vyce, Dr. Tom, and anybody else who have stayed away from TSM that wishes to post in the Current Events folder. When someone truly steps over the line with an offensive insult or a racial slur, you can be rest assured either myself or another hot rat will step in and take the appropriate action. But until then, it's best to learn that conversations are obviously going to get heated at times but hey, that's politics.

Like Elaine on Seinfeld.

I just don't know about a fourth season. I thought was the first season was excellent....and I even loved the second season. It had its slow points but I thought there was some great, great stuff in it (i.e. Mahone, Kellerman -- I thought the Kellerman/Sara storyline was very good) and I always had a feeling they were building towards something as they revealed more and more of the Company conspiracy every week. I thought the third season was just atrocious though. Whistler didn't have a single quality that made me care about who he was, his girlfriend was equally as bland, Gretchen was just a poor villain that had no credibility as a threat, they made T-Bag a non-factor for practically the entire season, and the suspense of them breaking out of prison was completely gone. Been there, done that. I went from being a religious follower of the first two seasons to sparingly watching episodes by the end of the third season -- I didn't even bother to watch the finale. To be honest, Season 3 of Prison Break disappointed me just as much as Season 6 of 24, if not more. I'm going to give Season 4 a chance -- -- but they need to hook me in within the first few episodes or I might be out the door permanently.

No. That's how folders get cluttered, topics get lost in the shuffle, and things just become an overall mess. Use your own discretion when it comes to starting new threads but use common sense.
-
I think if we go as far back as the Attitude era, the folder is becoming too cluttered with threads about the past. That is one of the main reasons why the General Wrestling folder exists after all. I still think the Five Year Rule is a good standard to hold the WWE Folder to. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to take the HHH/Stephanie/Angle topic -- which did have good discussion but, if I'm being frank, the angle has no relevance anymore to where the WWE product is today -- a few folders down to General Wrestling.
-
A minor news thread would create the same problem. In my opinion, there should be a "Random Thoughts" thread in the WWE Folder where if you have a thought that doesn't require a thread whatsoever -- like "Wow, I just realized Randy Orton wears black wristtape now instead of white" or "That John Cena videogame shirt he wears now looks very homosexual" -- you could post there. This way, people could still feel free to post what they want to post while not cluttering the WWE Folder with nonsense. Meanwhile, news topics would get their own threads, as would structured discussions like the ones about the Elimination Chamber and WWE DVDs, while Raw, ECW, Smackdown, and PPV discussions would still continue in their respective OAO topics. This matter is still open for discussion though.
