I always thought Paul McCartney looked like an old lesbian too. I really dislike Mitt Romney. Because nobody goes to see the Marlins, A's, and Rays, so why bother spending money on a building for 60,000+ people when you're hardly going to fill a fifth of that on a good day? No matter how successful the team gets, they're never going to consistently sustain that support. Just look at the Marlins, That would apply more to the Marlins and Rays to be honest, but it's not like the Coliseum has come close to collapsing from the swarms of Oakland fans either.

Well, as we all know, if the Twins don't agree to the deal today, the Yankees will never, ever, ever negotiate with Minnesota over Johan Santana again. So the Hughes-issue should be moot since this Yankee-Twins arrangement will absolutely go no longer than 11:59pm tonight.

I've always been a fan of Minaya's work but this offseason has been horrid for him so far. Milledge was trade bait -- perhaps not as valuable as he was two years ago but an outfielder that still required a higher price than Church and Schneider! I assume this effectively places them out of any dealings for Johan Santana....hell, it would place them out of any dealings for an above average starter, period. They don't have anybody else left to trade! If the Mets don't make the playoffs in 2008, Minaya needs to go. Now we have three catchers, none of which can match Paul Lo Duca who was never impressive in the first place. We lost a valuable utility outfielder. And oh yeah, we still lack an ace. At this rate, the Mets will be struggling to compete for third place in the division.

I hope all this talk in the New York newspapers about Jose Reyes being trade bait for Johan Santana is just talk. It would be a critical mistake for the Mets to consider that -- along the lines of trading Tom Seaver. Reyes was the catalyst for that team in the first half of the 2007 season. He has limitless potential....and it's not like they even have anybody to replace him anyway. I can't see Minaya doing it because even he has to realize the possible disaster it could turn into, but I'm uneasy about all the talk either way.
