  1. KingPK stole my mundane achievement. I was roughly around 10 and we were playing baseball in some kind of summer camp program. Since the point of this game was to include everyone in my portion of the camp which included around forty people, it'd be safe to say there would be twenty people playing in the outfield at any given moment. Well, I come up to bat. Bases are loaded. Hit a shot right through the gap into the outfield of the schoolyard. As the ball is rolling towards the chain-link fence, kids are colliding and stumbling over each other trying to get it. Finally, one does. And what does he do? Wild toss totally away from the diamond. Before I know it, inside-the-park grand slam homerun. Certainly one of my crowning sports achievements for now and forever.
  2. Perhaps we went one too far with Reason #570. You're off here. You need to stand up for yourself once in a while. Otherwise you're little more than a doormat, and doormats just do not rise too high in the business world.
  3. That whomever discussion was great. "Well, I used whomever as an object" "Ryan used me as an object" "Toby, nobody asked you, so whomever you are, why dont you stick a letter opener in your skull?"
  4. Luke-o, make sure to post in this thread on Sunday to tell us how your first day at the supermarket went. Because this is no longer just a horribly boring private conversation between you two that could have been easily shared in equally boring PMs. It has now become a thrilling piece of episodic drama that surely enthralls myself and everybody else that matters.
  5. Maybe Samoa Joe will be Sting's tag team partner so Angle can beat him again!
  6. 548. The WWE Folder doesn't have enough talk about working the night shift in a supermarket.
  7. Yeah, American Dad was definitely better than Family Guy this week, and I'm not one to usually say that. I thought the whole Harry Potter subplot was great.

    MLB Off-season Thread

Just to clarify, because I could see where my post would be contradictory. The Mets will have to offer A-Rod something. After the disaster of this season, the fan backlash and media backlash in New York would be too severe if they let an opportunity like this pass them without even making an attempt. And they do not need this with the opening of CitiField coming so soon. To avoid that, as the Mets GM, I would have to make a competitive offer that, as unlikely as it would be to actually sign him, would still give a decent fighting chance. Hence, why A-Rod is offered a contract when he is not much of a priority.

    MLB Off-season Thread

    1. I wouldn't mind if the Mets acquired A-Rod but their pitching is in such shambles right now that Alex should be on the bottom of their list of priorities. They absolutely must spend their money on starting and relief pitching this offseason, which is why I personally don't recommend they pursue him. Besides that fact, although an infield of Reyes-Wright-Rodriguez would likely be the best in baseball if it were to happen, I'm not even particularly crazy about Wright having to suddenly move to second base. Not when his defense started to look so shoddy at 3rd base at the end of the season. He needs to find a comfort zone at third rather than being shifted to a new position. 2. As the Mets GM, I just don't think I would go above and beyond what any other team would offer him. The pitching concerns are just too major. Besides, realistically, he won't go for less than the $25 million per year he's making right now. Boras is going to push it as high as it could go and the Mets don't need to chase it. Just to put a hat in the race, I suppose....10 year, $280 million contract. With incentives. Won't break New York's bank completely although they would find themselves facing the luxury tax then. Either way, it almost certainly wouldn't be enough to acquire A-Rod anyway but if it was....hey, whatever.
  10. Titanic.
  11. As a leader, I like Chad Pennington. He has a strong presence, a winning attitude, and always seemed to have a mind for winning. But he cannot continue as the quarterback for the Jets. To go 0-3 against Buffalo, the Giants, and the Eagles is just miserable -- and as the QB that cannot seem to finish teams off anymore, he needs to be benched. I can't guarantee Kellen Clemens will be any better but the Jets need to shake up their offense like they did years ago when they benched Testaverde in favor of Pennington. Oh, and Mangini going for a endzone pass to Laveranues Coles on a 4th and 1 situation with the game on the line was just awful strategy as well. Especially with both Coles and Chad's spotty performances all game. Notice nobody is calling him Man-genius anymore.
  12. Kelly: If that's from Ryan, does it say if he's seeing anybody else? Michael: I'll find out at the party tonight. Stanley: We'll all be waiting to find out. That and Kelly throwing the pizza at the TV screen when Ryan came on were two highlights for me. Kevin's "It's like eating a hot circle of garbage" was good too.
  13. You know, I liked the cold opening. Who hasn't sat there and waited for the square to hit the corner on a screen saver? It always comes so close too.
  14. I could see Kennedy winning if the balloting isnt rigged. Yeah Marvin, not a chance.
  15. If Arizona can't even give a shit about their own team, how am I supposed to be expected to?
  16. Well, there's major buzz in the New York Daily News this morning that Steinbrenner is interested in Tony LaRussa instead. Which doesn't seem like much of an improvement over Torre to me at all.
  17. I NEED THE AUDIO
  18. Ooh shit. Edit. Err...yeah. So Jeter is hopefully going to take some criticism too finally for his underwhelming performance this series. A-Rod does not deserve all the blame here. Mr Clutch grounding into double plays didn't do much to help the Yanks after all.
  19. Haha. Like they did last week, Yankee fans can continue to gloat that their team didn't choke. They couldn't. They never had the lead to begin with! Not the AL East and not this series with Cleveland! I do love the mocking sounds of "New York, New York" here though. Now the Yankee fans can join the Mets, Phillies, and Cubs fans on the crowded Heartbreak Express.
  20. GREAT JOB MIKE MUSSINA SUCK DICK GUINEA WOP DAGO GREASEBALL!!
  21. Pretty good episode otherwise. Love Mahone's breakdown, especially the stuff with Haywire and his psychotic staredown with Michael near the end. The Sara thing is going to leave a bad taste in my mouth for a while though.
  22. Indians, 4. Yankees, doesn't matter 'cause they're not tappin' the Beeze.
  23. lmao.
  24. Yeah, I think that was a shitty way of finishing Sara Tancredi's character. She was such a major part of the show in Season 2 -- and to a lesser extent, Season 1 -- and they handled the end of her arc in a very anti-climactic way. Not a fan of how they did this.
