  1. Steve Kerr will not rest until he's killed every inch of the run and gun Suns that people used to like to watch. It's pretty funny actually, not that i was ever a big fan of the Suns, but there was no denying they had a soul and something unique to them that people liked.
  2. I think that more people (nameless log carrying folks) probably got away from the flaming arrows. at least, they should have, otherwise what you say is absolutely correct, there's really just like 3 people for whom they'd be going back for. Sawyer and the rest of them were all "where are the rest of our people??" when they found the abandoned camp, so there should imo be like a pack of 5 or 10 more people left (including rose and bernard)
  3. The first half of season 8 had actually made me a fan of the show again, which is saying a lot. Yes it was "lois and clark lite" but thats one of things people love about Superman. Lana really did ruin it. I haven't even been able to finish watching the last two episodes yet, I roll my eyes a lot. ugh.
  4. Once this season is over I'm going to have to marathon this season. Everything is so packed together and full of revelations.
  5. That's pretty vague. What features are important for you? Are you more interested in portability? or in the ability to do extra stuff? Watch video too? Do you need a ton of storage? using it to workout? It's hard to go wrong with an iPod Nano: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/ Main reason for suggesting the iPod Nano is basically the interface. For non touchscreen mp3 players, the scroll wheel is King. Circular scrolling is more natural than any competitor's interface, and the buttons behind the scroll wheel feels natural without cluttering the front with buttons. It hits your price point perfectly, $150 for 8GB, $200 for 16GB. Alternatively, you can check out the Microsoft Zune, which has players at similar price points. A little cheaper actually. Upsides to Zune are that its not an iPod (if that matters to you), and has a few extra features, however its physical interface is inferior - the big button doubles as a pushable buttons or a touchpad. It sounds a better than it works, but it's not a bad player: http://www.zune.net/en-us/mp3players/default.htm Creative makes a bunch of players too but I'd only suggest those if you're more budget-conscious. They are cheaper I think, but are vastly inferior in terms of design, UI, and physical inputs. Given the choice, I'd rank them behind both iPod and Zune.
  6. I'm thinking Charles Widmore and "Ellie" Faraday for some reason had to push the Donkey Wheel (to escape the army or Dharma), and got exiled from the island, which is why they are trying to go back.
  7. So someone elsewhere made the connection: The woman "Ellie" who held the gun to Daniel, whom Daniel said reminds him so much of "her".......................... apparently in the pop-up video "enhanced" rerun of last week's episode, Daniel's mother was named as ........ ELOISE Hawkings. Ellie? Short for Eloise?
  8. So, Faraday's suggestion to encase "Jughead" with concrete and bury it, sure sounds a lot like some sort of electromagnetic something that was encased in concrete under the Hatch (The Swan). Loved how they explained Richard visiting Locke, and how Widmore knew about the island.
  9. OH! MY! GOD! WIDMORE!!!!!! It's all starting to make sense! THATS WHERE THE FEUD WITH BEN STARTED!!! THATS HOW HE KNOWS ABOUT THE ISLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. House passed Obama/Democrats' stimulus bill today without a single Republican vote. I'm fine with that, as i am with the stimulus package in general. Do not approve too much of the extra stuff the congressional Democrats stuffed into there. Just goes to show you, the right is not the only side that Obama has to reach out to try to be more inclusive. A master politician, Pelosi is not.
  11. Sort of agree. It's implied that show threads like these are discussing episodes as they are airing, its like that for most shows. I have several shows I'm catching up on (like The Shield) and I avoided the show threads for that reason.
  12. Something interesting someone pointed out on some blog out there... Locke personally witnessed Yemi's plane crash. Back in S1, he knew about the plane because of dreams. Wondering if there's some connection, some sort of dream time flow, that made it so that the reason Locke got that dream is because he time travelled and witnessed it personally.
  13. A bit torn on whether to root for Rourke or Langella in the Best Actor. Loved Rourke in the Wrestler, he was pretty iconic, but i'm also starting to feel a teensy bit of backlash feeling in that it might be over-praised. Langella was just as good imo, the whole "we're gonna make em choke!" late night phone call (I read Frost's book, that one of the few 100% fictionalized scenes in the movie) was just phenomenal.
  14. I bet you The Reader was only nominated because of Ralph Fiennes. He's one of those douches that the Academy loves. then again he wasn't nominated for best actor so maybe i'm wrong. (i dont actually think he's a douche, he's a good actor, but still)
  15. I love how the show doesn't even put up the pretense of being a drama anymore, it's just pure balls-to-the-wall sci-fi and action at this point. Great two hours, the story feels like it's moving along at a good pitch. The "time shifting" is a good gimmick to flesh out various periods and unanswered questions about the island from the past. I'd like to see the Black Rock crash and the four toed people soon.
  16. The guy, Roberts, actually read it incorrectly
  17. Well of course Apple can make products, they can always just release slight revisions to the iPod Nano, Touch, Macbooks etc, add new features, change the shapes and colors, add more storage, etc etc.... I think it's brand new products which will suffer and not have quite the same "Apple oomph" to them. I've read a lot of stories where Jobs, in his own unique egomaniacal way, really pushes and flogs his people to get some of that good UI and creative 'marriage of software and hardware' and ease of use... like the iPod, he tossed away entire developed prototypes and UIs simply because he couldn't get to the song he wanted in "3 clicks". I read a pretty detailed article about the iPhone making that had a lot of interesting little stories like that.
  18. You should, both very worthwhile movies. I like frost/nixon a lot too, though maybe because I read the book and am fascinated by Nixon as a person.
  19. I assume the idea here is that we are actually "skinjob Cylons" (or members of the 'Final Five Cylons' race, if they are different biologically than normal skinjobs)
  20. 'Dance Flick' looks like the winner. is it from the makes of not another teen movie, epic movie, date movie, and all those other shitty "spoofs"?
  21. That tends to happen a lot with "literal" comic reproductions. Most of Sin City's lines just sounded stupid and cliche onscreen imo.
  22. I'm rooting for Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler" for Best Actor. That was one of those "i can't imagine anyone else playing this guy" performances after you saw it. Deserved the GG but deserves the Oscar more.
  23. Heath Ledger, Mickey Rourke, and Slumdog Millionaire all deserved their awards. I'm glad they won.
  24. The episode has been very good so far, but less than two hours in and we're already back on formula: -Jack back in the field, yet being distrusted by superiors. -It only took an hour for the ole "Things get bad and we realize Jack's methods really work!!!" -Traitor in CTU... err I mean the FBI There better be a change in the formula coming or I'm going to be bored by hour 7 (and that's only because 1 to 4 are bunched in 2 nights)
  25. Yeah Exodus II is one of those high water-marks, a real cathartic episode. I actually think the show has really struggled to reach that mark since (though this past half season was really good). The atmospheric jump was probably the coolest thing I've seen in ages. Pegasus' last stand was really awesome (if a tad cliche). The ending was just really dramatic too. The whole thing was balls to the walls, and if the series was structured slightly differently would have made a killer series finale.
