Agreed. Some people are acting like Sony personally slighted them. If you don't like their products just don't buy them. But cheering for their failure is kind of silly. Sony DID personally slight people by putting a fucking unstable rootkit on their CDs among a whole bunch of other fuck-over-the-consumer-in-the-name-of-copyright-protection examples over the last decade. This company choking on their attempt to push through yet another proprietary media format and crashing down in flames would be glorious. Nintendo at least made a gaming system, Sony's selling you an attempt to take over your living room. Maddox tends to agree. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c....u=sony_bullshit

I'm waiting for Chrono Trigger (still my absolute favorite RPG), Earthbound, and E.V.O. Search For Eden myself. E.V.O. being especially rare, I'd love to play it again.

Most likely they ran out of orphans to fuel the fires, had to resort to less clean-burning sources like coal. That, or the nuns just can't work fast enough.

Square is free to develop for whomever they like, why else are they doing so much with Nintendo again these days? Namco is now under the Bandai branch, and I'm pretty sure they can develop for whomever they want as well.

The classic controller does have a weird button on the top, in the middle between the L and R buttons, which activates some kind of release/lock mechanism on some thin horizontal slots on the back. I've been trying to figure out what it may be used for.

In comparison as well, though, Nintendo has the most to gain, and Sony has the most to lose. Such is the way it works with first and third place. I think it will be a much closer race this generation, no matter who is in first place. EDIT: I do have to wonder why Anya thinks Nintendo would immediately revert back to their old ways the second they achieved any sort of top position, though. What exactly has Sony done that makes them the undisputed good for the industry that some people seem to think they are? They initially caused a big stir that was good with the PS, but since then I haven't seen them try all of anything with their hardware/strategy that wasn't a given, and that is what is hurting them now. Third parties made Sony. And whoever is on top will get those 3rd parties. It is not going to make a lick of difference in that respect, not in this day and age.

I meant the golden bugs you need for a sidequest, sorry. You need to be a wolf to get the light tear bugs. All that goat tossin' in his village did him some good! -

I've caught bugs as Link in human form, a few times actually. It doesn't matter which form you're in, wolf form just makes it easier to see them. -

Yes, you don't start with the shield bash, you get that one Just so you know, the game only gets better as it goes on. I just completed the 3rd dungeon and things are really cooking now, in terms of story and everything. -
Trauma Center is way too much fun, if you have any interest in this game at all, get it. Sooner rather than later, if the DS release is any indication, as it will become rare if it hasn't already. It really vindicates the controller well. Even if you've played the original on DS, they've really done a lot of legwork to add a lot of extra content. Zelda is really great so far as well, I'm about 8 hours in and really enjoying it. Rayman I'm not liking as much, possibly because by it's nature it's more of a party game, and playing minigame compilations alone takes away about 90% of their appeal, maybe I'll trade it in for Excite Truck or something that offers a more stimulating single player experience.

Finally some TG16 presence on the virtual console, they just released Bonk and Bomberman '93 (with support for 5 players) today.

It's a brace for the stand....basically, you hook it into the bottom of the grey base stand and it makes sure it doesn't tip over easily. Mine came with it and I have it on right now so my system doesn't get knocked over accidentally.

I didn't post my "How I got my Wii" story the other day because I felt like crap after waiting around outside for 5 hours in -20 C, but I got the very last one they had at Toys R Us. I got a classic controller, an extra wiimote, Zelda, Rayman and Trauma Center for it, couldn't find an extra nunchuk though. Anyways, to you guys having connection problems with the dongle, I have the official Nintendo one and I was having trouble as well, and it was because of Zone Alarm. Basically, if you are using Zone Alarm with it, it simply will not let out the signal. You have to completely shut it down and then it should, theoretically, work, as that's what happened with me. It might be the same with a few other firewalls as well...it's not really ideal, but it should let you go online for periods of time to get system updates and do VC downloads, etc. Nintendo is going to release some kind of USB LAN adapter in January for those of us with wired connections, although I too wish it had one built in. If anyone wants some impressions on the games, just ask and I'll write some up. EDIT: Also, a quick note...my system was getting very hot, even when in standby mode, and that is because I had "Wiiconnect24" set to on, as well as "Standby connection" set to on, so the system was constantly looking for a connection that wasn't there most of the time, causing it to heat up. Once I turned those off, it runs cool as a cucumber. Those internet options will become available once you run your first 2 system updates.

Yeah, I'm getting a little concerned about my chances... there's already around 35 camping outside the only Futureshop in town (which is getting 66), and Walmart is doing the raffle thing (I got a ticket), but I'm not happy about that huge line. I'm gonna wake up around 6 a.m. and check out that Futureshop line, if it's past 66 people I'll have to try a few other shops in town and hope for the best, and if I can't find anything at any of those, then I'll have to hope I get one in the Walmart raffle. I hate that line-up mentality (That guy is in line, I'd better get in line, too!), once I saw a few people lined up earlier today I knew I was screwed.

Well, "gameplay > graphics" is a bit too simplistic of an argument. The Wii doesn't seem to have the onboard power that is going to give you mega-huge worlds without them needing to be broken up into smaller sections. I don't know about that Andrew, the GTA games and others have managed streaming worlds on PS2, the weakest of last-gen consoles, so I think it's more about how it's optimized than a hard and fast rule.

Shockingly, Zelda received an 8.8 from Gamespot. Seriously, that is mind-blowing, and then I saw who did the review. Jeff Gerstmann. So I'm not too surprised now, as he's had a serious hate on the Wii ever since it was announced (especially since it was revealed it would be graphically underpowered compared to the other systems), and has generally a lot of apathetic/smart-alecky comments about it when he's in any videos with the Wii. But, there you go, the streak has been ended by him. He was also the one who rated Excite Truck 6.8 when IGN rated it an 8.0. http://www.gamespot.com/events/wiilaunch/s...slot&page=1 Fanboy's on all the various Zelda/Wii messageboards are going to berserk extremes right now, which is extremely entertaining, even if I can sympathize with their opinions. -
Ah, but you're using common sense, a skill that eludes most people who would wait in line for a videogame system for a week.

Surprise! More bad news! http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155303 If you own an older HDTV that only supports 1080i, and not 720p, the PS3 will automatically downscale the video to 480p. Also, the PS3 is overheating and freezing while playing Blu-Ray movies. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=751836 I've also been seeing a lot of reports of the system freezing up multiple times per day with the display kiosks in stores. Quite a fine investment, I must say.

I Wonder if they left the parking lot. If they were up for waiting all this time, then the smart thing would be to just go back to their car and wait there. Or realize how pathetic their lives are and go do something worthwhile with their time and come back later. One of the two.
-
Unbelievable. The fact that someone would willingly part with close to $10,000 for a system without even any killer apps, just to own it first, is insane. That's gotta be some kind of fake bid, maybe some bidders are lashing out at the ebay scalpers?

Reminds me of when I got the dreaded disc-read error on my original PS2....I tried a big chunk of my game library to make sure it wasn't just a specific game, and when I called their customer support, I had to argue with them that it was not, in fact, all of my games that had suddenly "gone bad", it was the one common factor: the system. I think the phone call took like an hour of them trying somehow to pin this error on anything but the system itself, and they finally begrudgingly agreed to fix it.

So the rumble pak does about what you would expect, it creates a mild rumble on each beat you hit, which actually provides quite a nice solid feel. Nothing mind blowing, but a neat touch for sure.
