Thanks for the heads up about the weather channel, just was playing around with it, I like the setup a lot. As for the VC games, I can confirm that Sonic has no update. Must just be a glitch that popped up.

Virtua Fighter 5 coming to the PS3 February 20th in North America for you fighter fans, and launching with the system whenever that happens in Europe. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6163347.html?...estnews;title;0

Ubisoft is getting really bad for this, seriously. I could understand a few crummy ports at launch, but there's no reason for this anymore. If this is all the support they're going to offer, some crappy exclusive games and a heap of ports, they can keep them to themselves. Far Cry was rushed beyond belief and looks like utter crap, as do all of the Ubisoft Wii games thus far, and there is no excuse for that. I can't believe that Ubisoft cares so little about how this system is percieved that they'll just crap out garbage for it as long as it has Wii controls jury-rigged to work on it, and then they'll deliver games like Rainbow Six Vegas and Assassins Creed for the other systems. I'm not saying they should be porting those, but just putting some CARE into what they make for the Wii, as this just hurts more than it helps.

A video showing some of the in-game graphics and gameplay mechanics for Dragon Quest IX, looks really sharp for the DS. http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/8038

Congratulations, I hope you enjoy it! Let us know how Resistance is, and perhaps some general system impressions, I'm curious.

Everyone has been added, waiting for you guys to add me as well.

I got Elebits today, I'll post some impressions later after I've played some more (just done the tutorial and the first 2 levels so far).

Incredibly, Dragon Quest 9 is going to come out not for the PS3, not for the Wii...but for the DS! It's also going to be playable online. Seems like the working title right now is "Dragon Quest IX: Protector of The Starry Skies" http://ds.ign.com/articles/750/750590p1.html http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3155836 This seems almost unprecedented, a full-fledged continuation of a japanese RPG franchise being produced exclusively for a handheld system. As if it wasn't obvious enough before, the DS is now going to be unstoppable in Japan, where DQ is king.

I might as well use this to talk about another good game (originally a double post), which was Return Fire for the Playstation (originally for the 3DO). Crazy capture the flag from a top-down perspective, with classical music attached to each of the vehicles (Flight of the bumblebee for the Jeep, Ride of the Valkyries for the helicopter, etc). Awesome, awesome game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_Fire

Metal Warriors for the SNES. Awesome game, you could jump out of your mech and fly around with a jet pack as the pilot with a little pea shooter that had no point of existance other than you could kill other pilots with it in 2 player versus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Warriors

What was with that Hudson Bee power-up? What did it do besides make his outfit yellow? The loading between screens makes the game look almost unplayable.

I'll see your 10 PS3's, and raise you a kid with 6 PS3's and 6 Wii's...for no real reason other than so he's not doubted as a "true gamer". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwQHgeBcXOc "Now those out there who think they're true gamers: I'm a true gamer! Ahhhhhh! I am! You will not doubt me....ever!"

I don't understand the point of the achievements in Excite Truck, because every time I hit a milestone, I get some crummy trophy model I can rotate and they bump up the numbers (Say I hit 50, they'll bump it up to 100 after awarding the trophy). Is Nintendo going to have acheivement points like Xbox Live once they finally launch WiiConnect 24, or is this just something for the hell of it in Excite Truck?

They have no case, this is either going to get thrown out, Nintendo's lawyers are going to bury them, or they will settle out of court.

Actually, Call of Duty 3 for the Wii has that as an option. If you turn off "Dynamic aiming" in the options menu, it will keep the cursor bound to the middle of the screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cJbhMRxDJk&eurl=

I have Trauma Center, and I really enjoy it. If you think you'd like that type of game, chances are you will like it, as they do some really clever things with the wiimote. Red Steel is worth a rental to at least experience it, but it has so many problems it can be hard to enjoy. The biggest issue I encountered is that the reticule will just spasm towards the center of the screen randomly, sometimes every 5 seconds, sometimes it won't do it for an hour, but when you're trying to aim a sniper rifle while you're getting blown to pieces and the reticule is fighting you, the game loses it's fun. I will say this, however, Red Steel has some of the nicest smoke and fire effects I've seen in a videogame. Also, hearing a bunch of gun-toting thugs shooting machine guns at you while they call you a "Killer!" and "Murderer!" is pretty entertaining.

I'm torn....I'm thinking between Elebits, Super Swing Golf, or Metal Slug myself. I've been getting some weird info from my local EB games about Elebits though, they were telling me today that it's been pushed back to January 4th? I'm wondering if this is one of those weird things where sometimes we get games a month later for no particular reason in Canada. Any other canucks hear this from their local shops?

It's not as hard as you might think.... Unfortulately, they never really make this clear, but when you're going bobber fishing, when the bobber sinks down all you have to do is jerk the wiimote back and you should have hooked it. I kept waiting forever for a fish to bite before I figured that out. Lure fishing is much more enjoyable later on, as well. -
Well, the whole reason it is a trade this time is because Nintendo wanted that casual-friendly price to entice non-gamers, and Nintendo will never, ever, ever allow themselves to take a loss on a system. Which is why they're the only console manufacturer who isn't hemorrhaging like a victim of a chainsaw stabbing.

Either way, I think we're gonna be hearing a lot of "This isn't enough like OoT/TP!" cries, probably from the same people who say TP is just a rehash of OoT right now, when the next game comes out. I'm glad to see them pushing the games into a more cinematic presentation though, I was pleasantly surprised overall with the whole story in TP, the next game should be even better in that respect for sure. -

TP and OoT are not the same game. They share a lot of the same things, but still, TP takes the formula created by OoT, changes a bunch of things overall, adds a far more compelling and cinematic storyline and refines the hell out of the rest. OoT was more of a groundbreaking game for it's time, but to lambast TP for taking that formula that 80% of the gaming populace was clamoring for when Wind Waker was released is stupid, and I'm tired of seeing it. This is the last game you're going to see like this anyways, according to Miyamoto, the next Zelda will likely be something built from the ground up with the Wii in mind and will most likely be something crazy. Oh, and I enjoyed Wind Waker a lot, personally, and I liked the style because it was truly one of the best uses of celshading I've seen, even to this day. But TP is what majority of the fans were clamoring for, and then when Nintendo delivers it, they shouldn't be whining that it's too much like OoT, because that is exactly what they ask for every time the series deviates from that formula (Majora's Mask, Wind Waker). -

So I just beat Zelda, it took about 56 hours or so. That said, I took my time to enjoy it and didn't rush, but I also didn't finish all the side-quests either. Surprising things abound, I won't spoil anything for anyone, but I personally feel that now that I have fully experienced the game, it absolutely beats OoT into the ground. If you think OoT is a better game, please take off the nostalgia colored glasses. Oh, and Jeff Gerstmann was wrong. -
I had the same issue, the trick is to drop the sensitivity in your wii settings if you're going to be playing closer, and raise it up higher if you'll be further away.

Talk to the old Goron outside of Malo Mart for the spring water you need to use, this will also give you a discount on Malo's fee to open the shop in Castle Town from 2000 rupees to 200 rupees.
