Hmmm that's right Fiesta Bowl is the host next year. Okay I have no idea why the Sugar Bowl is the bottom of the pecking order this year as I always figured it went in the reverse order of who's been hosting.
  4. For those of us on the West Coast we will not get Ohio State/Michigan and instead we'll get Cal/Stanford. That will probably piss off quite a few people but I'm one happy mother fucker as Keith Jackson is calling The Big Game. Actually blame ABC for showing a golf tournament (in November!?) during the usual regional slot. BCS Standings 11/14

And the Sugar Bowl is at the bottom in priority this year because they host the title game next year so it is pretty much a lock the Sugar Bowl will be the SEC Champ vs. West Virginia. Speaking of the MPC Computers I'm wondering if the WAC will lean on them to take Fresno State over Boise State (Fresno was there last year but that was because Boise went to the Liberty when that bid opened when Utah got into the BCS). The WAC's other bowl is the Hawaii Bowl and that's against the 3rd place team in Conference USA and I'd assume the conference would want it's champ against someone from a major conference. The WAC doesn't have an automatic tie in for it's champ.

    American League MVP

How much a player makes is irrelevent to the MVP and I think it is what people's major problem with Rodriguez is the money he makes which is rather silly.

    American League MVP

This is all a prelim debate to tommorrow when Andruw Jones beats out Derrek Lee and Albert Pujols for the N.L. MVP then the real fun (or headache) begins.

    BCS Standings 11/14

Yes I think if Oklahoma loses to Texas Tech the Holiday Bowl will pick OU over Colorado. If Oklahoma wins, they'd pick Colorado over Texas Tech since Tech was there last year. Edit: Let me revise that as there is scenerio where the Holiday Bowl would take Colorado over Oklahoma and that is if UCLA is the opponent since they already played Oklahoma. If Oregon ends up in the Fiesta Bowl then UCLA will be in the Holiday Bowl (this is all under the assumption Oregon beats Oregon State and USC beats UCLA).

Oklahoma/Texas Tech this Saturday will decide who goes to the Cotton Bowl. Colorado blew their chance by losing to Iowa State. Alabama will most certainly not get a BCS bid if they lose the Iron Bowl as I'm not sure if they'd stay in the Top 12. The loser of the Iron Bowl probably goes to the Cotton Bowl. Alabama might have a shot at an at-large bid to the Orange Bowl if they win but I think they are a longshot as either Penn State or Notre Dame will probably land there against Miami. Fiesta Bowl would have no interest in them.

No have to finish in the Top 4 do get an automatic at-large. Top 6 rule applies to non-BCS schools only (see Utah last year).
  11. Pretty boring from here on out and unless USC or Texas suffer a shocking loss. 1. USC 2. Texas 3. Miami 4. Penn State 5. LSU 6. Virginia Tech 7. Ohio State 8. Alabama 9. Notre Dame 10. Oregon 11. UCLA 12. West Virginia 13. Auburn 14. TCU 15. Michigan 16. Georgia 17. Fresno State 18. Louisville 19. Texas Tech 20. Wisconsin 21. Minnesota 22. Florida 23. South Carolina 24. 12. But he's not CLUTCH~! 1. Alex Rodriguez (16) 331 2. David Ortiz (11) 307 3. Vladimir Guerrero (1) 196 4. Manny Ramirez 156 5. Travis Hafner 151 6. Paul Konerko 128 7. Mark Teixeira 106 8. 13. The Top 6 rule only applies to non-BCS conference schools as that's how Utah received a BCS bid last year. For BCS schools, except Notre Dame who only has to be in the Top 12, you have to finish in the Top 4 to get automatic at-large bid. Doesn't appear likely that anyone will fit under that this year. Early projections for this week BCS rankings have LSU jumping Virginia Tech to #5, Va Tech being the highest rank non-conference winning favorite at the moment at #6. They'd need Penn State and LSU to lose to have a shot of cracking the Top 4.
  14. There is no Thursday or Friday games this week thus there is only one deadline. Since there is no excuse to not get your picks in on time this week, if you don't you get your picks in I automatically will deduct one point from your score. For the GoTW I just picked the one with the highest ranked opponent against a Top 10 team. Damaramu has apparantly dropped out so I'm assinging the pinjockey as replacement for Oklahoma for the last two weeks. NFL Week X

Joe Nedney tries a 48-yard field goal, with the wind it hooks short, Nathan Vasher of the Bears catches it in the back of the endzone and returns it 108 yards for the touchdown to end the half. This is the most disgustingly bizarre football game I've ever seen. The 49ers attempted two passes in the first half. The wind is just making it impossible to play a real game.

    NFL Week X

This game might end in a 0-0 tie. The Bears' kicker tried a field goal and he looked like he was almost blown over before he kicked. The wind pushed the kick about 15 yards to the right. Edit: Joe Nedney makes one, 3-0 49ers.
  17. Thanks CanadianChris.
  18. The Preseason NIT tommorrow begins tommorrow. Here's the 1st Round match-ups: Boston Univ at #1 Duke Manhattan at Seton Hall Sam Houston State at Missouri Drexel at Princeton Miami of Ohio at #15 Alabama Wisconsin-Milwaukee at #12 Memphis Army at Temple New Mexico State at #19 UCLA You look at the top half of the bracket and then look at the bottom and the cynic in me figures they wanted to make sure Duke is in the final.
  19. For the first time ever North Texas won't win it. I'm sure the Sun Belt would love it if Lafayette would win it since the New Orleans Bowl has been moved there. The way things look at the moment, guess who is the likely opponent for the displaced New Orleans Bowl? The Golden Hurricanes of Tulsa. Maybe the NCAA will ban their nickname.
  20. Could be two open bids from the Pac-10 or none. They could have as little as four bowl eligible teams or as many as seven. Stanford, Arizona State, and Oregon State all have five wins at the moment. Oregon State is the longest shot as they have to win in Eugene. Stanford gets Cal at home and god dammit they better win because otherwise they have to pull off a monsterous upset of Notre Dame the following week. ASU seems like the safest bet as they get Arizona at home in two weeks but who the hell can figure out U of A at the moment? Blow out UCLA then lose to Washington.
  21. Conference Title Game Tiebreaks Head-to-head match-up results are the primary tiebreak. Three or four-way ties, if not decided by head-to-head (i.e. everyone won or lost to the other) would be decided first by overall record and then by BCS ranking. This is not a complete list as you'll see as I just don't have the interest in the headache I'll get from going through every possible scenerio. Pac-8 I'm only going to focus on the three teams tied for 2nd at the moment as there are just too many tie possibilities left. Techincally everyone in the conference might still have a shot. -Hawaii has clinched a spot in the title game. -If Arizona State & Stanford tie, Stanford advances -If Arizona State & Oregon tie, Arizona State advances -If Stanford & Oregon tie, Oregon advances Big MAC There is a potential four a four-way tie between Penn State, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Kent State but I'll cross that bridge if we get there. -Illinois is not eligible -Penn State and Northwestern will advance if they win next week. Mid South Like the Pac-8 I'm only focusing on the three tied at 2nd. Florida appears to be out of it but there's a potential for a five-way tie so I can't say for certain. -Alabama has clinched a spot in the title game. -If Texas A&M wins next week, they advance as they beat both Florida & LSU. -If LSU wins and Texas A&M loses next week, they advance. Big Atlantic -Virginia controls their own destiny, after that I'm too lazy to look into it.
  22. Keep your pants on, that's what I'm gong to do next but I have to go look back at the head-to-head results to figure it out.
  23. Another week, another change at the top but I don't think everyone will be thrilled as there were no big jumps or drops this week (a lot of 7 and 8's this week) but it is so razor thin close still. Currently the Top 6 in correct pick % are three correct picks apart. Bored Championship Series Top 10 thru Week 11 1. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 2.8 2. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 3.2 3. Texas A&M - Secret Agent 3.8 4. Syracuse - CanadianChris 5.1 5. Alabama - AlwaysPissedOff 5.15 6. Florida - Agent Bond34 6.85 7. Penn State - therealworldschampion 6.95 8. Ohio State - Gert T 7.0 9. LSU - teke184 7.25 10. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 9.3
  24. Milestone Moment: First match-up decided by tiebreak #2. Agent Bond34 and Cuban Linx were late with their picks this week so tiebreak #1 didn't apply. Kenny Irons rushed for 181 yards, Agent guessed 167, Cuban 166, thus Agent wins. Week 11 Final Results #5 Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff) 9, #7 LSU (teke184) 8 #9 Florida (Agent Bond34) 7, #10 South Carolina (Cuban Linx) 7; Florida wins by tiebreak Virginia (Edwin MacPhisto) 9, #1 Georgia Tech (iggymcfly) 7 #2 Miami (Spaceman Spiff) 7, Tennessee (Kotzenjunge) 5 #3 Syracuse (CanadianChris) 8, Troy (Angel Grace Blue) 7 #4 Texas A&M (Secret Agent) 9, Oklahoma (Damaramu/the pinjockey) 6 Northwestern (Kingofthe909) 9, #6 Ohio State (Gert T) 8 #8 Penn State (therealworldschampion) 8, Notre Dame (Lando Griffin) 7 Hawaii (Will Scarlet) 8, Stanford (Bored) 7 Connecticut (DragonLordKaiba) 7, Maryland (MarvinisaLunatic) 7; UConn wins by tiebreak Illinois (Matt Young/Lando Griffin) 6, Minnesota (Vern Gagne) 5 USC (Cartman) 6, San Diego State (Porter) 3 Nebraska (CarnivalizComing) 6, Auburn (Agent of Oblivion) 5 Arizona State (Spicy McHaggis) 10, UCLA (phoenixrising) 8 Oregon (nogoodnick) 9, Washington State (bravesfan) 6 Buffalo (Angel Grace Blue*) 7, Kent State (JHawk/Vitamin X) 6 Florida International (Vitamin X) 7, Rutgers (the pinjockey) 6 Conference Standings Pac-8 1.
