  2. Still no picks by Matt Young and Kotzenjunge. If neither submits picks by tommorrow's deadline here would be the replacements: Illinois - Spicy McHaggis Tennessee - DragonLordKaiba
  3. And after all this the A's rehire Ken Macha on a three-year deal. Ugh.
  4. Link Two new names for the A's job: Jamie Quirk and..........LARRY BOWA!? I'm hoping the source on this is bullshit.
  5. They're going to interview former World Series MVP's who beat the A's. Next will be Billy Hatcher. Anyways I have no idea. Really with any new manager it's impossible to know how good or bad they'll actually be. I'd prefer Ron Washington but I don't know if he'd be any good either.
  6. Next list for middle relievers took the Top 60 in relief apperances. Did not include Win Shares for this list since the majority of middle relievers don't register a significant amount. 11. Next list is a hybrid list of basically a bunch of players who didn't fit into the other lists. David Ortiz and Travis Hafner were the only two true everday DH's this year so a DH only list didn't really work. The list is the Top 30 players in plate appereance who are not on the other lists. Designated Hitter & "Utility" 1. David Ortiz, Red Sox (DH) 2. Travis Hafner, Indians (DH) 3. Tony Clark, Diamondbacks (1B) 4. Mike Sweeney, Royals (DH/1B) 5. Raul Ibanez, Mariners (DH/LF) 6. Bill Hall, Brewers (SS/3B/2B) 7. David Dellucci, Rangers (DH/LF) 8. Jonny Gomes, Devil Rays (DH/RF) 9. Chone Figgins, Angels (3B/CF/2B) 10. Matt Stairs, Royals (1B/DH) 11. 12. The first BCS rankings come out next Monday but I have the unofficial rankings from CollegeBCS.com, which are as close to official as you can get right now. All but one computer ranking is making their ratings public at the moment. Here's the current Top 15 overall: 1. USC .9616 2. Texas .8852 3. Virginia Tech .8838 4. Florida State .8776 5. Georgia .8695 6. Alabama .7874 7. Penn State .7492 8. Miami .7480 9. LSU .6099 10. Florida .5643 11. UCLA .5533 12. Texas Tech .5496 13. Notre Dame .4641 14. Boston College .4029 15. Oregon .3466 As you see Texas has a very slim margin over Virginia Tech as the Hokies hold the edge in the computers. Also interesting to see Notre Dame much lower than their poll ratings as they are only #24 overall according to the computers. Now here's the Top 10 in each computer rating except the one that isn't available yet, the Wolfe Ratings. You are going to notice a very interesting trend. Anderson-Hester 1. Florida State 2. Penn State 3. USC 4. Georgia 5. Alabama 6. Virginia Tech 7. Texas 8. UCLA 9. Miami 10. Texas Tech Billingsley 1. USC 2. Georgia 3. Virginia Tech 4. Texas 5. Florida State 6. Penn State 7. Wisconsin 8. Miami 9. Texas Tech 10. LSU Colley 1. Penn State 2. Florida State 3. Alabama 4. Georgia 5. Virginia Tech 6. USC 7. Oregon 8. Texas 9. Minnesota 10. UCLA Massey 1. Penn State 2. Alabama 3. Florida State 4. Georgia 5. USC 6. Virginia Tech 7. Miami 8. Texas 9. Florida 10. Oregon Sagarin 1. Penn State 2. Florida State 3. USC 4. Georgia 5. Alabama 6. Virginia Tech 7. Miami 8. Texas 9. Oregon 10. Florida As you see Penn State is dominating the comptuer ratings right now. As a Rose Bowl purist I love it as I'm still clinging to that small hope of a Pac-10/Big Ten title game but that will probably raise a few eyebrows.

  14. Well I'm going from the perspective of an A's fan who FOX televised once this year on Saturday's and then would always have their game blacked out because of FOX's exclusive Saturday day game rights.
  15. The current contract runs through next year. Whatever network is doing baseball in 2007 needs to completely revamp the Saturday coverage. They need to have a real pregame show (with some hosts with actual personalities) and go to a doubleheader format with everyone getting a local game and the featured east coast or west coast game. Actually make Saturday baseball an event rather than after thought that just pisses you off when your local team is blacked out because it wasn't on Fox's schedule that day.
  16. The Cardinals really should steamroll everyone on the way to the title but doesn't always workout that way. They are head and shoulders above everyone else and I'd think it'd be a major dissapointment for them if they don't win it all. LaRussa ufortunently has past experience in that department though.
  17. Joe Morgan: *shika* *shika* *shika* Ohhhhh yesss SMARTBALL!

  22. Arizona State has quickly gone from a team that you could say if they get a couple of breaks their way against LSU and USC they are a national title contender to helllllllooooo Las Vegas Bowl in a real hurry as they are about to lose to Oregon. The conference has been jumbled after today. Figured ASU and Cal were definently better than UCLA and Oregon.
  23. Agent Bond34 still is #1 although Spaceman Spiff is keeping it close. Poor CanadianChris' strength of schedule is murdered by DLK's 3 point effort this week. Good thing it's only 10% of the ranking this year. AoO is 5-1 but they have the easiest schedule to this point and are only 23rd in correct pick % so they still can't crack the Top 10. Cartman is only 3-3 but they are shining light in the god awful Pac-8 as they are #3 in correct picks. And don't look now but Edwin MacPhisto is making a charge. 25. I picked Cal but it is always a good day when they lose. Hell even Stanford won today. This was an fun, fun day of football. The aftermath of the Minnesota/Michigan game is what makes college football great with all the Minnesota players charging the Michigan sideline to get the Little Brown Jug. You never can get that kind of moment in the pro game.
