Cameron is the better defensive center fielder so he should stay put, although I have a feeling he'll be the one changing positions.
-
That rule was changed prior to the 1990 season when they added an extra Wild Card game, expanding the playoffs from 10 teams to 12 teams. The Bills and Dolphins would meet each other in the Divisional Playoffs that year.
-
On the bright side for the Astros this means they'll be able to afford to keep Lance Berkman...unless Scott Boras is his agent.
-
Stanford upset Arizona 87-76 today. Maybe this can spark a turn around to an absolutely miserable season for the Cardinal to this point.

A's are rumored to be close to trading Eric Byrnes to the Diamondbacks for a combination of Scott Hairston, Conor Jackson, and Carlos Quentin. If the A's get two of those players this will be a complete fleecing of a deal. Byrnes would play center for the D-Backs and that would not be a pretty sight. A's are also rumored to be close to signing 36-year old Japanese pitcher Keiichi Yabu. He's probably being signed in case Dan Meyer starts the year in Triple-A.

Oh my god the rumors were true...the Dodgers are about to sign Derek F'N Lowe to a 4-year, $36 million deal. There's no defending DePodesta on this. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n...2045EST0455.DTL

So Lex Luthor IS Keyser Soze!
-
Errr that's a career evaluation, not who's the better player now. Beltran has been better than Jeter the last two years and is three years younger.
-
I think the NFL is going to continue to avoid the L.A. area as a Super Bowl site until a team moves back there.
-
That's technically true but twice a team has played very close to their home. The Rams in Super Bowl XIV at the Rose Bowl and the 49ers in Super Bowl XIX at Stanford Stadium. Yup although next year they are returning to Detroit for the first time in 24 years.
-
I think it is a real stretch to say that Jeter is better than Beltran. I can't think of one statistical cateogry that Jeter has had a significant edge in the past five years. Both are above average fielders. If they are going to pull out the "intangibles" argument, one could argue that Beltran was as important to the Astros' late season and playoff run as Jeter was to a lot of Yankee runs. Puhlease everyone knows Jeter is the sole reason the Yankees have won any championships. I think the only real debate out there is if Jeter can knock off Babe Ruth as the greatest Yankee of all-time. I bet he can as he knocked off Ozzie Smith as the greatest defensive shortstop of all-time last year. Now to be serious. These players were better than Beltran in both VORP and Win Shares last season: Barry Bonds Albert Pujols Adrian Beltre Jim Edmonds Bobby Abreu Lance Berkman J.D. Drew Mark Loretta (!) Better than Beltran in VORP but not Win Shares: Todd Helton (equal in win shares) Vladimir Guerrero Ichiro Suzuki Better than Beltran in Win Shares but not VORP: Scott Rolen (just below in VORP) Adam Dunn

Since there isn't a BCS poll after the BCS bowls in real life I've decided not to do one. What I think I'm going to do is do a Top 10 using the new formula and that will serve as the preseason Top 10 for next year. I might post that tonight.

Dama was going to get himself banned eventually. Really it's a year too late as he was even more unbearable in the college football threads last year. This past year he became a bandwagon fan in multiple sports and subsequently annoyed people in multiple threads besides the college football ones. He's just about the least knowledgeable "sports fan" here yet he probably made more posts than anyone in the sports folder.
-
Honestly it's for the best. I look forward to the college football threads next year.

You get the feeling USC was just bullshitting about Lendale White's ankle?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
They should have saved all the celebrity interviews for the second half.
-
You know this is so bad that it's too easy to pick on Dama now. The only thing I want out of the guy tonight is to admit Jason White is not Christ himself and that Matt Leinart is the better quarterback. Another Oklahoma turnover. Good lord why bother playing the second half? Sorry Auburn, USC is #1.
-
I think the major factor people forgot about coming into this game, including myself who picked Oklahoma, is to never underestimate the genius of Norm Chow. HOLY SHIT ANOTHER INCREDIBLE CATCH! Game over. This is getting 49ers vs. Broncos and Cowboys vs. Bills type of bad.
-
All these celebrities...interview O.J. damnit!
-
Don't write off Oklahoma just yet. A 14 point deficit at halftime is hardly insurmountable. That's IF they score a touchdown here, which is a must, and IF they keep USC from scoring again this half, also a must.
-
If they can't get Adrian Peterson going, Oklahoma is screwed.
-
It's official...Dwayne Jarrett is Mike Williams in disguise.
