I didn't watch one game and won't be watching any of the World Series if the Astros win tommorrow. I haven't watched the majority of a World Series since 1997.

National television schedule. Just one ABC regional time slot this week. Not quite the loaded slate of games that we've had the last couple of weeks. LaRussa needs to call up Dave Stewart to pitch against Clemens tommorrow.
-
Arguably? The only argument is who's second best.
-
Not saying Posada is a HOF but if fairness to him the majority of HOF catchers never led the league in anything including Yogi Berra. The three MVP's of course helped him.
-
Words can not describe how much I don't want to see Roger Clemens against one of his former teams.
-
Even though they obviously can't really afford to give up draft picks but it would have been nice for the 49ers to have traded for him. It's not like they are going anywhere this year. But at least with the Seahawks he has an outside shot at going to another Super Bowl. He will get to play one final game at San Francisco on November 7th, assuming he finally retires after this year.
-
Hey this has turned into a "my conferene is better than your conference debate." I'm SHOCKED! Anyways only thing I'll say is how many bowl teams a conference has doesn't mean much since they are pre-determined. Conference USA has six bowl bids this year.

baseball-reference.com has the 2004 stats up already and updated the HOF test numbers. Going by the Hall of Fame Monitor Albert Pujols is already a likely Hall of Famer. http://www.baseball-reference.com/p/pujolal01.shtml More of the greatness of Pujols: Okay there is some debate if he's really 24 but god damn.

The only person's strength of schedule that is hurt is by the team that forfeited so no it has no effect on anyone else. On the other question remember the strength of schedule is based solely on how your opponent picked that week and not what they did the rest of the season. I did it this way because unlike real football here we have no control over what our opponent does and it's irrelevent what your opponent does other weeks. I'll look into what Mike's and iggy's ranking would have been without the forfeit but Teke you're only #13 in correct picks so you have had some luck in being 5-2. Gert has been #1 in picking games I think almost the entire contest but he only has a 4-3 record to show for it. If Gert hadn't been late submitting his picks several times, he'd probably have won more games. He put himself at a disadvantage this week by missing the early games and, thus, costing himself easy points. I'd have to look through the old picks to make sure but I believe this was the first week Gert actually was late with his picks and he would have lost by tiebreak this week even if he hadn't lost one point. Only difference would be he'd be alone at #1 in correct picks right now instead of tied with Edwin.

A little change now this week. I'm not going to go strictly by the t.v. schedule anymore as I'm going to start throwing out some obvious blow outs (i.e. Washington/USC) and throwing in lesser games like when I had to last week. This will only be for Saturday games though as I'll always have the early week games for tiebreaks. Week 8 Deadlines Thursday, October 21st, 7:45 PM EST/4:45 PM PST -lose out on Syraucse/West Virginia pick and tiebreak #2 Friday, October 22nd, 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PM PST -lose out on USF/Louisville, Wyoming/Colorado State, and tiebreak #1 Saturday, October 23rd, Noon EST/9:00 AM PST -forfeit Week 8 Match-ups #1 Virginia* (Edwin MacPhisto, 5-2) vs. #2 Minnesota* PM (Vern Gagne, 4-3) - GAME OF THE WEEK #6 West Virginia* (Loaded Glove, 3-4) vs. #8 Syracuse* PM (CanadianChris, 6-1) #9 Stanford* (Bored, 7-0) vs. #10 Oregon* (nogoodnick, 4-3) #3 Ohio State* PM (Gert T, 4-3) vs. Florida State* - late (2GOLD, 3-4) #4 Washington State* (bravesfan, 4-3) vs. Texas* - late (Flyboy, 3-4) #5 Notre Dame* (Lando Griffin, 6-1) vs. Boston College* (HarleyQuinn, 3-4) #7 Oklahoma* (Damaramu, 3-4) vs. Auburn* (Agent of Oblivion, 4-3) UCLA* (phoenixrising, 3-4) vs. Arizona State* (Spicy McHaggis, 2-5) Hawaii* (Will Scarlet, 2-5) vs. Maryland* (MarvinisaLunatic, 5-2) LSU* (teke184, 5-2) vs. Miami* (Spaceman Spiff, 3-4) Alabama* PM (AlwaysPissedOff, 3-4) vs. Tennesee* (Kotzenjunge, 2-5) USC* (Cartman, 3-4) vs. Florida* (Agent Bond34, 2-5) Penn State* - late (therealworldschampion, 2-5) vs. Bowling Green* (iggymcfly, 5-2) Michigan State* - late (Dangerous A, 3-4) vs. Georgia* (A_MikeSC, 6-1) Michigan* (Mad Dog, 2-5) vs. Kent State* (JHawk, 2-5) Rutgers* (the pinjockey, 2-5) vs. Boise State* PM (Vern Gagne/*dead team*, 1-6) Week 8 Games to make picks for THURSDAY Syracuse at West Virginia FRIDAY South Florida at Louisville Wyoming at Colorado State SATURDAY Northwestern at Wisconsin Iowa at Penn State Georgia at Arkansas Bowling Green at Ohio Boston College at Notre Dame UTEP at Louisiana Tech Michigan at Purdue Oklahoma State at Missouri Florida State at Wake Forest UCLA at Arizona State Washington State at Oregon State Oregon at Stanford Alabama at Tennessee Texas at Texas Tech New Mexico State at North Texas Miami at N.C. Guess we'll need a replacement for Oklahoma.... Anyways as I promised since we're past the midway point of the season here are the entire rankings. Remember in parenthesis is your win/loss ranking, correct pick pct. ranking, and your strength of schedule ranking. BCS Top 10 thru Week 7 1. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 2.33 (5/1/1) 2. Minnesota - Vern Gagne 5.00 (9/5/1) 3. Ohio State - Gert T 5.33 (9/1/6) 4. Washington State - bravesfan 8.67 (9/13/4) 5. Notre Dame - Lando Griffin 9.33 (2/5/21) 6. Boise State - Vern Gagne/*dead team* 32.00 (32/32/32)** * - one forfeit ** - two forfeits And now if the season ended today here are how the bowl match-ups would look. I'll be updating this every week from here on. Remember the three BCS bowls are made up of the four conference champs and two at large teams. Also to be bowl eligible you have to finish with a winning record so if you don't have a winning record now I won't have you listed. Of course as I was putting together I noticed we have only 13 teams with winning records so I guess it might be possible to make it to a bowl with a losing record. Loaded Glove gets the honor for the moment Massengill Douche Country Flower Bowl: Washington State (At-large) vs. West Virginia (At-large) Out Magazine Bowl: Ohio State (Pac-8 #3 or Big MAC #3) vs. Auburn (Mid South #3 or Big Atlantic #3) KFC PETA Bowl: Oregon (Pac-8 #2) vs. Maryland (Big Atlantic #2) Lucky Strikes Cigarettes Tar Bowl: Bowling Green (Big MAC #2) vs. LSU (Mid South #2) Traditional Bowl presented by Adam & Eve’s Anal Lube: Stanford (Pac-8 #1/BCS at-large) vs. Notre Dame (Big MAC #1/BCS at-large) Oxycotton Bowl: Syracuse (Big Atlantic #1/BCS at-large) vs. Georgia (Mid South #1/BCS at-large) MILFHunter.com Bored Bowl: Virginia (BCS #1) vs. Minnesota (BCS #2)

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...MNG0D9B5K21.DTL Loooooooong article so I'll just C&P the main part.

Ohio State is getting slaughtered 33-0 by Iowa. Toledo vs. Ohio State in the Motor City Bowl should be fun.
-
Reggie Bush's first half: Rushing: 3 att, 13 yards Receiving: 3 catches, 52 yards, TD Passing: 1/1, 52 yards, TD Punt Returns: 2 returns, 50 yards They really need to give him the ball more. Duane Jarrett, now the new #1 receiver for USC with Steve Smith out, has 4 catches for 121 yards and three touchdowns. USC up 42-7.
-
USC opens up a 21-0 lead on Arizona State in the 2nd quarter.
-
This had trap game written all over it for Minnesota after yet another heartbreaking loss to Michigan.
-
Mainly playing time is why Edgar is in front of Ruben. Frank Thomas for example in the time he played this year might have been better than all of them but because he got hurt he ends up 4th.
-
Designated Hitter Just took the Top 14 in games started at DH. There were very few regular DH's this year. 1. Travis Hafner, Indians 2. David Ortiz, Red Sox 3. Erubiel Durazo, A's 4. Frank Thomas, White Sox 5. Mike Sweeney, Royals 6. Troy Glaus, Angels 7. Dmitri Young, Tigers 8. Edgar Martinez, Mariners 9. Ruben Sierra, Yankees 10. Josh Phelps, Blue Jays/Indians 11. Jose Offerman, Twins 12. Carl Everett, Expos/White Sox 13. Brad Fullmer, Rangers 14. Tim Salmon, Angels I will attempt to do pitchers, even middle relievers. I'll do 30 closers, 50 middle relievers, and then try to do 100 starters.

Texans - 24 pts. Philadelphia Cleveland Detroit Houston Jacksonville Miami Atlanta Seattle N.Y. Jets Washington Oakland Pittsburgh Minnesota St. Louis
