And you picked UCLA...ouch. You also have to two "upset" picks tommorrow. Would this be a bad time to say I'm fucking Stacy Keibler? Edit: Realizes that would make me Test...nevermind. Hey UCLA scored things are looking up for you.

Oh well...but hey PAC-10 REPRESENT MOTHER FUCKER!! Undefeated so far...*tunes over to ESPN2 and sees UCLA getting their ass kicked*...hey at least I picked Fresno State. I'm a winner no matter what tonight.

As usual its impossible for the Holiday Bowl to not come down to the final minutes. Shit get this game on January 1st already.

"Hey Washington State is blitzing us every play...I know I'll put in our non-mobile quarterback who holds on to the ball too long on every pass."

Anybody else hear some great quotes about Raw from people outside of TSM? From the Raw Workrate Report on the DVDVR message board, here's a gem by Phil Schneider about the Jericho/Trish segment:

Jay's dad, Franklin Sherman, was one of the funniest character's ever. I suck when it comes to quoting lines from t.v. shows or movies but his character never failed to make me laugh and stole every scene.

Is this typical of Texas or what? Mack Brown has to be the worst coach ever when it comes to gameplanning against a quality opponent. I would have gone with the upset pick if I hadn't lost all faith in Wazzu after they choked against Washington in the final game of the season to maybe cost them a shot at a BCS bid. It is the Holiday Bowl though so history says Texas will make a game out of this.

Of course a lot of is at at stake for 2GOLD being the only person to pick Washington State. They could jump into the Top 3 or the Bottom 3 depending on the result of that game. I don't think all is loss though as even though Texas is definently the better team, they are Texas (can't ever trust them in a big game) and it is the Holiday Bowl (last five games decided by 7 points or less) so Wazzu could end pulling off the upset. I'd say Navy beating Texas Tech would be a much bigger upset than Wazzu over Texas. The Silicon Valley Bowl ironically enough may end up having the most effect on the standings, even though its only worth 3 points, because of its 12/11 split in the picks. The two current leaders split on that game so by the end of the day we'll have only one person in first place.

Damn when I did the picks a few weeks back the word was about the Nebraska players wanting to boycott this game because they hadn't named the defensive coordinator the permanent head coach. I knew Nebraska was definently the better team but figured they wouldn't put up much of a fight if they didn't even want to be here. Guess that wasn't the case. Again please post about in progress games in here and not the results thread, thanks.

Jerry Rice has already been mentioned but his best record that probably will never be broken is his 22 touchdown receptions in only 12 games in 1987, due to the strike with one cancelled game and three "scab" games. Sterling Sharpe had 18 in 1994 and that is the closest anyone has got since and probably no one will reach it only 12 games played. His single season receiving yards record of 1848 yards in 1995 seems harder to reach than expected. Every other year someone seems to be on pace to break it, Torry Holt was the guy this year, but can't get within 100 yards of the record since Rice set it. Funny enough Issac Bruce is 2nd with 1781 yards and that was also in 1995.

Tonight's Game Alamo Bowl: Michigan State vs. Nebraska, worth 15 points Pick Breakdown Michigan State (13) - Bored, Edwin MacPhitso, bps "The Truth" 21, Lando Griffin, 2GOLD, JHawk, the pinjockey, razazteca, cartman, Choken One, CanadianChris, Agent Bond34, Gatornibs Nebraska (10) - phoenixrising, bravesfan, Kotzenjunge, Rob E Dangerously, teke184, MarvinisaLunatic, Vern Gagne, Cuban Linx, The Mighty Damaramu, Harley Quinn Big game here with a decent number of points and a good split in the picks. The most significant movement in the standings would be if Nebraska wins that would put phoenixrising and bravesfan in a tie for 1st place.
 -
Just bumping this so it don't fall off the first page. Nebraska and Michigan State in the Alamo Bowl is tonight.
 -
This has nothing to do with the game but in case anyone was wondering to break the four-way tie for the NFL's worst record to determine the #1 pick in the draft they will go by stength of schedule. So the first four picks in next year's draft will go like this: 1. Chargers 2. Raiders 3. Cardinals 4. Giants
 -
Damnit just about to add that edit but yup forgot about the '79 Rams. They won the NFC West that year and that was just the 2nd year of the 16 game schedule. Edit: Add on to a previous post the '85 Browns made the playoffs with an 8-8 record, winning the AFC Central.
 -
No 9-7 team has ever made it to the Super Bowl. Only 8-8 team I think to ever make the playoffs was the '91 Jets which was the 2nd year of the 12-team playoff format. In '82 the Browns made it with a 4-5 record but that was the strike year when the expanded to 16 teams since they only played nine regular season games.
 -
Don't expand the playoffs at all. A team that played hard all year to get a 14-2 record deserves to get a week off. Twelve teams is plenty and the NFL regular season will become almost pointless like the NBA and NHL if they expand to 16.

Haven't bothered to dig up any recaps in a while but since you don't remember it I figure I'd find this one...and then I see that I have the result wrong as Jeff won the match. CRZ recap:

 -
Hmmm starting to think I should have gone with Virginia. I felt both teams were evenly matched and when it came to like opponents Pittsburgh barely beat Virginia Tech while Virginia beat them by 14. Maybe I was just thinking too much about Pittsburgh having Larry Fitzgerald.
 -
Damnit I knew I'd get accused of fixing this! Anyways picking Cal wasn't that hard because Virginia Tech played like complete shit down the stretch. Under Jeff Tedford they also play better when they play better teams, just ask USC. Cal also played a much tougher schedule than Va Tech and I knew the game would be bigger to them since they haven't been to a bowl game in seven years. The hardest part about picking them was that I hate them so much. Trust me I was really confident with all my picks to this point but it's going to change starting tommorrow as I won't be shocked at all if Virginia wins as I had to practically flip a coin on that game. Also the standings right now almost mean nothing with 327 points still available, 114 alone on January 1st.
