  1. And I don't know anything, because Robothal is reporting that the A's are about to sign Garciaparra after all. They have quite the roster crunch on their infield at the moment. Not overly excited by this move as Nomar has done little to nothing the last two seasons.

  3. Nice. Time for Bobby Crosby to start learning how to play second and third base as it's utility infielder time for you buddy. This probably also means Nomar Garciaparra will be retiring if the report was true that it was either that or sign with the A's and that doesn't appear likely now with Cabrera on board.

  6. POLL! What do you think of conference tournaments? Personally I think they are the reason why many don't pay attention to the college basketball regular season. What's the point of the scheduled conference regular season if every team in a conference can still win their title going into the final two weeks of the season? I view conference tournaments as nothing more than made for t.v. events that only accomplish in weakening the overall field of 65. Team USA 2009

Quicky entry here. First off I'm currently working on a list of the 100 greatest baseball players of my lifetime. Whether I actually finish it is another story as I've tried to do similar lists like this before and always ended up chucking the whole thing. Hey it's World Baseball Classic time and for this entry just going to very quickly put together my own Team USA. I did this a for 2006 (LOLZ Dontrelle Willis) so might as well do it for 2009 since I need an excuse for an entry. This time around though I'm going construct a roster based on a more standard baseball roster rather than the extreme reliever heavy WBC rosters. This is totally based if no one was injured and if Alex Rodriguez wasn't a TRAITOR TO OUR COUNTRY! Starters C.C. Sabathia Brandon Webb Tim Lincecum Roy Halladay Relievers Joe Nathan Jonathan Papelbon Brian Fuentes Brad Lidge Heath Bell David Price C: Joe Mauer 1B: Mark Texeira 2B: Chase Utley 3B: David Wright SS: Alex Rodriguez LF: Matt Holliday CF: Grady Sizemore RF: Nick Markakis DH: Chipper Jones Bench Brian McCann Lance Berkman Dustin Pedroia Jimmy Rollins Evan Longoria Curtis Granderson

  15. The Oakland A's to Fremont deal is officially dead. So what's next? Is Bored our only A's fan here? I know that San Jose and Sacramento are frequently discussed as alternatives, but I don't see either one being viable, especially right now. Ahem. I agree though that I don't think any deal for a new stadium will be done any time soon unless the economy suddenly does a 180. Won't surprise me if the A's are still in the Coliseum for another decade.
  16. South Africa has a 17 year old pitcher on their roster by the name of Dylan Lindsay who the Royals signed a couple of months ago. I'm interested in getting a chance to see him pitch.
  17. Final WBC rosters were set today so might as well get this thread up for the tournament that begins next week. Ya it's still hard to take it all that seriously but it's the closest thing to real competitive baseball we have until April 5th. All games will be televised live on either ESPN, ESPN2, or MLB Network. And I'll just predict now that the U.S. blows it in pool play again. 18. Meaningless exhibition games are just two days away but hey at least it's baseball. Here's a TV schedule for this week. WEDNESDAY Giants vs. Indians, 3:00 PM/Noon, MLBN Red Sox vs. Twins, 7:00/4:00 PM, MLBN THURSDAY Astros vs. Braves, 1:00 PM/10:00 AM, ESPN Diamondbacks vs. Indians, 4:00/1:00 PM, MLBN FRIDAY Cardinals vs. Mets, 1:00 PM/10:00 AM, MLBN Padres vs. Indians, 5:00/2:00 PM, MLBN SATURDAY Rays vs. Phillies, 1:00 PM/10:00 AM, MLBN Twins vs. Yankees, 5:00/2:00 PM, MLBN I'm assuming the MLB Network games will just be the local feeds and apparently the Indians have a lot of their Spring Training games televised. Who knew?

  21. Hey you remember last year we had a third postseason tournament added in College Basketball Invitational? Okay maybe not, but trust me it did take place but don't ask me who won. Guess what? We now have four postseason tournaments this year. Say hello to the CollegeInisder.com Postseason Tournament. This was announced a month ago but hell if I noticed. That now brings the total number of postseason bids to 129.
  22. Frank Francisco, RP

  24. The deal to build the A's a new park in Fremont is officially dead. Really outside the fact that I live slightly closer to Fremont than Oakland, there wasn't a whole lot I liked about the deal. Popular belief is that the A's will now turn their attention to San Jose where the current ownership has wanted to move all along.
