  1. Yeah, Slamboree '94 was built up around Col. Rob Parker having a mystery man "from Flair's past" to challenge him for the WCW World Title. Flair was having a mini-feud at the time with Steve Austin, who was one of Parker's charges at the time, which got Parker to tease a mystery man. I don't remember any implications though that it might be Hulk Hogan, since he wasn't being talked about yet on WCW TV. It wouldn't have made sense either since Parker was a heel manager. Of course, it turned out to be a near-300-pound Barry Windham, who wasn't seen again after that match until he showed back up in the WWF in the summer of 1996 as "The Stalker". It made storyline sense though. It was Windham's first appearance on WCW since Flair beat him for the NWA Title at Beach Blast '93, almost a whole year before.
  2. I'm still wondering why they took the titles off The Steiners and why the Steiners never even got a rematch. Did they know the Steiners weren't going to re-sign or something? Nah, the Steiners had just come in at that point and were there for another year. They just wanted to get the belts off them without them jobbing clean.
  3. Yeah, they cut his mention of Benoit out of everything.
  4. How can Batista team with that dastardly Shawn Michaels after he refused to do the right thing to Ric Flair?!?!?!?!?!
  5. Oh wow, it's that old Triple H theme that Drowning Pool did.
  6. Yeah, Hogan gave up his title shot for a match with Sid after Sid walked out on him at Saturday Night's Main Event in the tag match against Ric Flair and Undertaker. Since Tunney claimed Savage was the #3 contender (Justice was #2), Savage was given the title match.
  7. There was a funny pic from a house show floating around not too long ago of Umaga squeezed into Edge's tights and boots. Anyone still have it? He was wearing Orton's tights and Edge's shinguards.
  8. I don't even understand why the scratch logo has to be blurred but the other ones are just fine.
  9. This was the first time I've watched the post-Rumble deal with Hogan and Sid in a long, long time. On the first Flair DVD, they immediately cut it off as soon as Flair leaves the ring. As a 7-year-old I didn't really absorb it, but wow, did that crowd ever turn on Hogan for what he did. And it's not like they booed him all the time. He got the usual Hogan pop when he came out. It is surreal to watch Hogan do his manic ear-cup thing during the pull-apart and get booed loudly back then. It was even crazier watching Sid acknowledge the boos and do arm motions along with the "Just-ice" chants that started. The deer-in-headlights look on Hogan's face when he realizes the crowd is totally against him is priceless. I just don't understand how Vince could have thought the crowd wouldn't turn on Hogan for what he did. Sid had been getting a monster face push while Hogan spent a month whining about Jack Tunney taking the title away from him. So he already was made to look like a prima donna. So Sid throws Hogan out, which the crowd LOVED. Right there they should have called an audible and let Flair just dump Sid out on his own so Hogan wouldn't look worse. Because not even the markiest of marks could understand why Hogan was being such a baby about it. Sid just did what he was supposed to do. It's every man for himself, right? To make matters worse, not only did Hogan pull a typical heel move and refuse to leave ringside after being eliminated, you have been given the vision of Hogan working together with Flair to eliminate the biggest pushed face in the company so Flair could win the WWF Title. Just all around terrible booking at the end and it made Hogan look really, really bad, which required the previously-spoken of TV edits that were even more insulting to people that watched the live show.
  10. Yeah. He looked pretty pissed. He even shot a glance back at them when Flair started talking again.
  11. This is totally off topic, but when did WCW finally ditch the rule of throwing someone over the top rope being a disqualification? Was it when Russo and Ferrera came in?
  12. Except for the fact Umaga is talking... Yeah, I thought about that. But there's nothing stopping Orton from being a kayfabe jackass and claiming Umaga talks to him.
  13. Sort of right. Umaga went to the seamstress and asked for a new pair of black tights with silver graphics. The seamstress said black and silver were "Triple H's colors" and was afraid to do it. Orton came up to them and told her to do it and not worry about it. When HBK got wind of it and tried to get in Umaga's face, Orton stepped in and let him have it. I actually think all of this happened backstage at the '07 Tribute to the Troops show.
  14. Because he's just as much of a douche, but in a different way.
  15. I think Flair's promo at the end is a CHV Exclusive so fuck the live version. Flair's promo was definitely on the live version of the PPV. I still have the PPV recording on tape. They did the promo after Hogan and Sid had their squabble in the ring. Mean Gene closed the show.
  16. Actually, Austin really kept the redneck stuff hidden for the first two years.
  17. He can say that because it makes kayfabe sense.
  18. No one wanted to cheer a face Jeff Jarrett in WCW 1996 or 1997 either.
  19. Who is MPV?
  20. "It ain't a race thing, it ain't a color thing, it's a me-kicking-your-ass thing!" I am not looking forward to watching the incredibly awkward interview with Melanie Pillman. I hope they edit that out.
  21. WWF early-90s was weird when it came to repackaging characters. They acted like Col. Mustafa and The Dragon were these brand new people, while openly mentioning the past of the Mountie and El Matador.
  22. I like how Heenan totally flips out in shock when Haku starts chopping Flair.
  23. Brooke Hogan was on Howard Stern this morning. At the end of her segment, she said that Bubba the Love Sponge was the only one of her father's friends that hadn't made a pass at her at some point. When Howard asked if the Macho Man had ever hit on her, she implied that he did and said it was really awkward because he used to babysit her.
  24. It's all going to depend on what he was fucked up on. If it was alcohol, they can deal with that. But if it was drug related, he's outta here.
