his rating is 90... that means Trips is going to be at least 93-95.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

I was about to say the same thing. If you give the wrestlers the right settings and the moveset to back it up, they;re almost unstoppable. I'm not even finished raising up my Samoa Joe CAW and he is already pretty devastating.

I think my only gripe about what is going on is that Furnas and LaFon are being jobbed out to the RnR.

What do you do when you get mad at a video game?

It depends. There were times where ESPN NFL 2K5 used to make me made enough to throw my controller... the passing game was so hit and miss it wasn;t funny. I think the last game I got that mad to where I threw my controller was Forza Motorsport. Usually I realize that I am in control and if things are going so badly for me, I will at the very least reset the game and try again. If I am doing worse, I just won't play the game for a week or two, and come back to it with a fresh perspective. Though I have to admit I am getting in the bad habit of starting a game, getting to a point where I get frustrated, leaving it alone, then going out and buying another game. I think I have at least a dozen games across the three systems that I have stopped playing and have not gone back to.
  5. Not to mention that the WWF of old had the NWA to compete against day in and day out. If wrestling was to go back how it was back then to any extent, TNA needs to be a major competitor within three years.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

Am playing Neverwinter Nights and enjoying it, once my character levelled up enough. Daleran Red Tiger has to be the most interesting NPC I have come across since Jaheira in BG2, and she was pretty interesting.
  7. I agree, and some of the best feuds sprung from just being put together in a match.... when a filler or even a mid-card match could turn into something that gained the right kind of heat, and could stretched out over a series of matches. Again, I point to the Best of Seven Series with Booker and Benoit.

True but at least in some of them you had to use strategy. The original Final Fight was good at this, because just beating the hell out of enemies would only get you as far as the end of the second stage. You actually had to have some strategy going, though Guy's quickness could get you out of a lot of situations.
  9. Gorilla Fucking Monsoon. He was about as near perfect as an announcer could be. He knew when to get excited during a match, he knew when to explain something, and as good as he was, Ventura and Heenan made him even better. And Hogan did a few squash matches during the 80s.... I can;t remember his name but he was a fat jobber and Hogan actually gave him some offense before coming back to win with the hulkup/big boot/legdrop. I think it was 85 when Orndorff turned Hogan, and that was one of the best heel turns I ever have seen. Of course I was a mark back then, or at least a semi-mark after that 20/20 expose, but I still watched wrestling because it was entertaining. And yes I agree with the previous comment that kayfabe made wrestling better than it now is. Though I will point out that with the advent and subsequent explosion of the Internet, even if Vince hadn't shattered kayfabe, it would have been a matter of time before it would have been broken for good by the IWC. I miss the hell out of it being more of a competition, though. Bundy was excellent for what he was, though after WM 2 when Hogan powerslammed him (an almost perfectly executed one, no less), he lost a lot of his mojo, and nothing they did with him afterwards could equal his initial success.

And to "even the odds" and give them focus if they are to keep the tag titles for a long run, Paul Ellering should come back to manage the Road Warriors.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

I have to admit, I really enjoyed beating the holy hell out of him in SYM.... it was even more fun when myself and two friends did so via multitap.. I think we spent like 45 minutes setting up spots to brutalize the fucker...

Not that I blame Kid Rock in this, how many times have we heard the E trying to get music for their entrances/games on the cheap? That's why we see more bands we have never heard of having their music in their games, like Core. Actually that song "The Angle" isn't that bad. Breaking Benjamin prolly did it for the cash grab, as they were already on their way up.

Definitely keep the previews for the big 4 PPVs... I like the Raw results as well, and things have gotten very very interesting... The Nation is on its way out, Austin is on the rise as is HHH.. I like that the cruiserweight division actually matters, and the tag division is halfway decent if not spectacular, and I know that is going to change for the better. I don;t have any complaints at all. Keep up the good work.

I'll bet it more along the lines that Kid Rock wanted a more money for game licensing, and got stoned.

Considering it was done more as a "superhero's super strength" joke/gimmick, I couldn't be happier.

CM Punk buried by HHH, Hayes, and HBK

I have said it before and I will say it again. Rudo, you should be booking somewhere. You laid that out perfectly. Wrestling does need to get back to its roots, thats for sure. In another thread, bps basically broke down the three most popular feds right now and did them correctly. If you want the best wrestling for its own sake, that would be ROH. If you want more action and high-flying, TNA is the way to go. And if you don;t care so much about the wrestling and want storylines (as horrible as they are), go with the E.

Bands that everyone hates, but you like.....

I saw In Flames at Ozzfest and I wasn't all that impressed... not bad, but not great. I must be getting old or something. Nickelback isn;t bad either, one of the few bands that have come out that actually are decent. I love Three Doors Down. That, ladies and gents, is a straight up, no frills rock band. As I have said before any Metallica pre-1997 is fine with me. I just wonder what the new album is going to be like, now that James has given himself musical equivalent of an enema.
  19. Considering how smart Mark is (Anyone who is curious check out the interview the guys at Between The Ropes did with him, you'll see what I mean), I am sure the gimmick they came up with will work just fine, no matter what. I just want to see the renamed 3D again... every time I see it I mark like a 10 year old... I don;t know why, but I do. Hell I about planted my head in my ceiling when they did it to Bischoff at ONS.

CM Punk buried by HHH, Hayes, and HBK

Maybe, just maybe this might be one reason why Mick didn't sign with TNA? Aside from the money, of course. This happens with every talent coming from another fed to the E, no matter how big or small. With everything both HHH and HBK have done in the past what, 15 years between the both of them, this sounds like doublespeak to me. And there is no way, no way in HELL that he can avoid being misused. If you think otherwise, then you're simply naive. Booker, Benoit, especially Jericho have been horribly misused for years in the E, starting with that abortion of an Invasion angle, and we all know it. Anyone who isn;t grandfathered into the E is going to be broken down and remade in the E's image, no matter HOW good he is in the ring, on the mic, or both. Punk is a good wrestler with the potential to be great, but he made a terrible decision by going to the E when the next logical step was TNA. He is running before he can walk, and that is going to come back to bite him.

    Favorite ECW Moments

New Jack cutting a profanity-laced promo from a basketball court in Harlem. Taz punking out Paul Varlans on the mic. That earned my loyalty when I saw it. Taz almost breaking a cop's arm after doing the Pitbulls and nearly killing Lance Wright with a suplex through a table. That looked like it hurt legit. Taz then cutting a promo the following week, basically punking out both Pitbulls and Lance Wright by challenging thrm to a three on one match. Yes, these moments are Taz-oriented, but at the time I thought he was the baddest man in ECW bar none, especially when he had that TV title. It wasn;t as good when he had the World title, IMO.

Christopher Daniels Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. AJ Styles

I got it and I watched it... I have seen much worse quality from stuff I have downloaded off the net... hell just watching that match got me in the ood to buy a few RoH DVDs. Thanks for looking out, Rip.

Christopher Daniels Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. AJ Styles

I miss the days when bps was doing the TNA reviews, and Dames was doing PPVs... nothing against PK and JHawk, they don;t have good jobs in reviewing the crap that the E has been spewing for the last year or three and I don;t envy them...

Christopher Daniels Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. AJ Styles

Do you have that match, Rip? I have been dying to see Low-Ki, and can;t find any decent matches anywhere aside from the ones I have. Ki in the same ring with Styles and London sounds like a hell of a match to me. You hit it right on top of the head with that statement. I'm really digging TNA right now because of the fast paced, more athletic style of match... but RoH has them both covered when it comes to excellent matches overall. I haven't seen very many bad matches in RoH, and the majority of those were in the first year or two, when they were getting off the ground. And I agree about wrestlers looking different in TNA than in RoH, and Low-Ki is the perfect example. I think that he uses (or is allowed to use) about 2/3 of his moveset in TNA than when he wrestles in RoH. The match I saw with him and Joe stiffing the hell out of each other made my jaw drop.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

I run into that a lot with my Lex Luger CAW, as I gave him the running forearm as a finisher. Once you get the timing down, running moves are easy to execute. Of course on the harder levels you run the risk of getting countered a lot. As for the Yakuza Kick (which I use with my Samoa Joe CAW), you have to be directly across from your opponent when you do it, and you will hit it most of the time. That goes all the way back to NJPW for the PS1, when using Chono. Running grapples are better executed off of a grapple or strike counter. I rarely use them off of the ropes, because positioning can be an issue.
