::laughs:: that *is* funny! all my CAWs held the titles... the create a PPV option was fun in SvR, now if they took that a half step forward and made more controllable matches (yes it is like playing booker, sort of) during the week, that would be sweet... hell I would be happy with four matches a week, and five or six for the PPVs... I do have to admit, its a bit of an ego trip when you have the wrestler you;re using be involved in all of the matches on a PPV, all of them being title defenses....

I guess I am the elder statesmen of this thread, because I have been watching since 1980, when I saw a Texas Death Match between Pat Patterson and Sgt. Slaughter at MSG. It just may be nostalgia, but wrestling has never been the same since the golden age of the mid 80s, and aside from some spikes in interest here and there. We have been seeing the result of failed Hollywood writers and nepotism slowly eroding the E since WCW and ECW got bought out. ECW and WCW gave the business new life for awhile, but usually he who has the most money wins, and that was Vince. If he was smart, he would take the momentum that One Night Stand had (and btw, that was the best WWE pay per view I have seen since WM6, and that was just because of Hogan/Warrior) and parlay that into an ECW show, with as many ECW wrestlers as he can sign, with Paul Heyman at the head, and use that to revitalize both Raw and Smackdown. You all saw how Vengeance was a better PPV from a performance standpoint, because they did not want to be outdone by One Night Stand. I was sick of Ric Flair losing the belt back in the day only to gain it back after a month. I have less interest in HHH that once a year. Whoever said that he puts on Raw/Smackdown for background noise is right on the money because I do it too.

The problem with Punk and Metal bands is that as they get more popular and (usually) more successful, very few can keep their edge for any length of time. My favorite Metallica albums are as follows: 1. Ride the Lightning 2. Master of Puppets 3. The Black Album 4. Kill Em All 5. And Justice For All 6. Load 7. ReLoad 8. St. Anger

Thats interesting, because I was at Ozzfest on thursday here in Michigan and Bruce was going on about how this wasn't really the true Maiden, and to see them in all their glory to come out to a show.. I think that he was tired of doing the Ozzfest thing which I can kind of understand, a band is only getting warmed up after an hour into their set... but they sounded great, even though I still think that Janick Gers needs to be shown the door, and go back to the classic lineup. He bring absolutely nothing to the table.

I am psyched about the belts.... One of my favorite things in SYM was that if you held the World, Tag, IC and Cruiserweight titles all at once, you were called a Grand Slam Champion. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of the save file for that, because my Low-Ki CAW was able to do that. That gave me a true sense of accomplishment in the game, something that was sorely lacking in SvR. I just hope that every week that the number of matches is changed from three to five, and that if you wanted you could wrestle those matches, like in HCTP. Yes, I used that to my advantage to lower HHH's Superstar points, and job him out. It happens when you have a deep dislike of a wrestler, as I am sure you all can attest to. If you had the Hardcore title, that was just more experience points for your CAW, which enabled him to be completed faster. I just hope they keep the transferring of EXP from one CAW to another.

It looks pretty nice, I have to admit.

I'm in agreement as far as the angle goes. The promo was a little too far outside the box, and even though they got massive pops, the moment you saw Matt Hardy attacking Edge out of the crowd, or even if they downplayed it and say, had Matt lurking in the shadows or sitting in the crowd just watching and staring daggers at Edge and Lita, it was going to be a work. I don't think that there was a really satisfactory way to pull this angle off. I have no doubt that if what happened between Edge, Lita and Matt actually happened, they were sternly told by Vince to keep it in the ring and stay within the storyline. Do I think that the writers have screwed it up? Not quite yet, though its certainly looking that way. I'm going to wait and see how it plays out before I start bitching. Make no mistake, I have little faith that this can be done to a satisfactory conclusion. But wait and see is the best thing to do.

Um, try it not being important at all.

Aussie Rules is the bomb, though I have to agree about the cheap shots. I have been into it since I discovered it back in 1982... I never pass up a chance to watch it, though I can never catch it. FSN doesn't have it on consistently, though ESPN was no better back in the day.

Puppets and the Black Album are almost equal, in my view. Puppets is a little bit stronger though. Another band that peaked too soon is Queensryche. After Operation: Mindcrime and Empire, they fell off the face of the planet.. and only NOW, 17 years after the hard rock opus that was Operation Mindcrime, are they writing the sequel.... too little, too fucking late, I say. But the poster band for this topic is and always will be GnR. They could have been as big as any band in the previous 30 years, save perhaps the Beatles (and I dislike the Beatles), but that train derailed hard.

Screw that toy, if you didn;t have the original Golion set that Takara put out back in the day which had TONS of those missiles that a small child could choke to death on, anything else paled by comparison.... I wish I had had the $100 to buy it back in the day but hell, I was 15 at the time. But I settled for shoplifting the Motorized Lion Force that Matchbox put out, one lion at a time. Then I open them up and removed the cheesy motors from them. But getting back on topic, a live-action Voltron movie is a BAD idea. Very bad.

Gary Payton is pretty much done. He isn't the shutdown point guard that he has been known for for years. Considering the direction that Seattle is going in, I think getting Payton and Kemp back would be a major step backwards for that franchise. The past is the past, Rashard Lewis is the future. Turn the page.

Wrestling and fighting games are more fun to watch than anything... sometimes the smack being run is just as entertaining as the match/fight.

iggy, cabbage... you;re not going to convince Kahran and MikeSC about RVD, just like they aren;t going to convince you about JBL. Both sides make good enough points to support your arguments, but you're basically trying to beat each other over the head with them. No one's mind is going to be changed here.

Update on Hassan (Insider Spoilers, Info)
Rendclaw replied to Stephen Joseph's topic in The WWE Folder
He might have the subtlety and tact of an oncoming freight train, but he makes good points. -
yeah, because Angle has more rounded facial features.

I remember being obsessed with Dragon's Lair, myself..

Mike James. The Pistons never should have gotten rid of him.

Definitely an interesting story of someone trying to redeem himself... I don;t see why he shouldn't get a second chance, if he can produce. I'm not even talking about the sick numbers he put up in 90s, but a solid and respectable 17 points and 10 boards. I just have difficulty believing that statement about him being at 85-90% of his athleticism... between his aging, the drug abuse and the other overindulgences, I would say that 65-75% would be more accurate. At the very least he took care of his money, despite the multiple kids of out wedlock...

I agree that that powerslam isn't very good, but it gets the job done.... to have the full animation of Davey Boy's powerslam would be cool... Hell, they should do JYDs powerslam too... why not throw Dr. Death's Sooner Rush in there?

Calvin Peete was on the PGA Tour long before Tiger was.

Jack is still the best of all time, but Tiger is catching up to him fast. And the answer is neither, because neither one really has voiced any opinions on important societal issues, even though I understand why. If you;re talking about impact on their particular sports, I would have to say Tiger. The NBA was already great when Jordan came along, and he took that popularity to another level sure, but we have been seeing the negative impact on the league for years, with a bunch on guys wanting to be just like Mike and not learning the fundamentals of the game and going for the highlights instead. Tiger came into a sports and not only dominated it for a number of years, but also gave its prominent members a SERIOUS wakeup call, while taking the popularity of the sport to at least two levels higher than it was. Advantage: Tiger.

For good or for ill, Bill Davidson never holds back when he says what is on his mind. If he does go to the Knicks, understand that Larry Brown is not going to stay long, either because of health reasons or another job comes along that tugs at his fickle-ass heartstrings. He is a great coach yes, but you would think that at the age of 64, he would settle the hell down and coach one team until the end of his career, which is not too far off. I don;t see him staying with the Knicks long enough to make a serious impact. They will get maybe ten more wins through the season. Sure, the Knicks get a dollop of credibility with this hiring, I just can;t see it lasting more than two years before her either retires or wanders off.

Just as Larry Brown is shown the door, Flip Saunders has just been named head coach of the Pistons.... big surprise, right? This could either work out very well, or the Pistons can take a step back... all I know is that LB and his agent have done one hell of a job spinning this situation to make them look like the victims... which of course they are not.

Wow, thats more impressive.
