  1. I loved the movie. I never read the graphic novels, but I knew going in it was going to be messy..... While I was there with a girlfriend, I think four people got up and walked out, though I had some drunk college students right behind me acting like idiots during points of the movie. A lot of what I wanted to say has already been said, so I'll just leave two small comments: Is it just me or did Rosario Dawson look like Vanessa Del Rio circa 1983? I think I have fallen in love with Devon Aoki. The silent badass, and absolutely gorgeous. Yum.

  3. Mario hands down, because of the longevity. I remember being 12 years old, and at the height of my mall/arcade rat era, I was watching, playing and learning how to play the arcade games, and spending almost all of my time and money in these places. There were at least five places worthy of the name arcade back then within 30 minutes of my house, and there were at least two Donkey Kong machines in all of them. As soon as the newest Donkey Kong game came out, these places got them immediately, and there were always a row of quarters/tokens on top of the game. Mario Bros. was the height of that time to me, because where else could you play a game like that with a friend cut-throat style? Good times. It was all over once the NES hit. The few people I knew who had one were playing SMB non-stop as if it was crack, and they couldn;t put the controller down until they got to the next world. Sonic has some interesting innovations (ala the sheer speed of the game), but they were blatantly riding Nintendo's coattails. But at least Sega was able to parley that into their own successes, even though it wasn;t going to last forever. After the slash and burn abandoning of the Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast, Sega was doomed.
  4. Go with Netflix. They lord it over Blockbuster big time; better selection, better service, and they aren;t afraid to drop their monthly rates below Blockbuster's, either.
  5. There are times like this where I wish that I was a game designer, because this is the perfect time for a wrestling game like Mat Mania/Mania Challenge, with tons more moves, slightly updated graphics, a good CAW maker, about 100 wrestlers already in-game and a long, multi-branching storyline.
  6. I'm more apathetic towards him than Mike is, as I could not care about him as a heel or as a face. To me, he is Brock Lesnar 2005; pushed too fast, too soon and its starting to blow up in his face. Since his face run has stopped dead in its tracks, what happened last night wasn't even that much of a surprise, since it seems that him playing the cowardly heel-that-isn't would have been the way to go against uber-face Taker. But overall I say, meh.
  7. Namco and Sony have been in bed for about 10 years now.
  8. I liked Benjamin from the start. He has a great look, pretty impressive moveset, and yes he *does* have personality. I have to admit that I was stunned when I saw him perform that suicide dive in the six-man. Flawlessly done. But as always, he won't get any higher, as was previously said. They do need to do something with him, now more than ever, because he is IC champ. I know its a mid-card belt, but they do need a hot storyline to capitalize on his growing popularity. A program with Hassan would be perfect, I agree totally. If Shelton had gotten in his face instead of Shawn Michaels, it would have even been better. Change the title back and forth once or twice, with each of them upping the ante and countering each other's moves. It make perfect sense, so that means that it will not be used. Being black, I have to say I have a little bit more of a vested interest in seeing Shelton succeed, but I don;t hink its very significant. In the end, its a wrestler's overall ability that will make me like him, out of the ring as well as in.
  9. I never liked text adventures. They could never hold my interest for very long. But on a similar vein, I am a HUGE fan of the old school RPGs, like Telengard, Wizard's Crown, Phantasie, and the like. They are a lot of fun... sometimes it doesn't take overwhelming graphics and sound for something to be enjoyable. The problem is all of the gaming companies and developers are convinced that it has to be bigger and better in order for it to be good. I have said it before, in that I would love to see an RPG that had upgraded Lufia-style graphics, a simple combat and magic system that took 150-200 hours to complete with awesome replay value rather than the revese, which is a visually and aurally stunning game with a needlessly complex combat and magic system that you can complete in 50 hours. Bigger isn't always better.

its been what, almost four years since the PS2 came out, and a little more than three for the x-box... it does seem a little soon, but five years seems to be the proper windows nowadays.... the PS1 came out in 1995, right? And around what, 1998, news leaked out about the PS2... seems like the curve is accelerating... and it seems that a wall has been hit as far as pushing the PS2 to its limit, though not many gaming developers have actually done that.
  11. At least they realized the blunder and immediatelt took steps to rectify it...
  12. They went around the country from 1/86-6/86 which is a pretty long time...... Agreed on their matches, they were probably the best matches in the company (save for some bulldogs matches) at the time. -Paul Jacobi- "Mamby-pamby Tito Santana...." I LOVED that feud. I remember a cage match with Tito and Bruno Sammartino against Savage and someone else in a steel cage match.... Even though the feud lasted way long, the Hogan-Orndorff feud was the best....
  13. Pistons win again last night against the Sonics, while Johnny Davis got fired as head coach of the Magic after losing their sixth game in a row. Is it me, or is Danny Fortson one of the dirtiest players in the game right now?
  14. On another note, its looking like Tayshaun Prince is going to be the main scoring threat for the Pistons. No less than three times in the past week, he has achieved a new career-high in points scored. Not bad for someone who people thought wouldn;t go anywhere in the league.
  15. Two words. Korleone Young. I have mixed emotions about it because if you go with the farm system, you could have a LeBron-level talent slogging it out in the minors for 2-3 years, but at the same time something need to be in place to teach the younger players the fundamentals of the game (for those that are willing to listen, anyway). To me the problem is the families, friends and gravy-trainers of a high school prospect filling the kid's head with visions of being the next Jordan, Magic, etc., and the kid buys into it, and he decides to jump to the NBA and he gets washed out after its made painfully apparent that he is a boy playing amongst men. In his own way, LeBron has made things worse, though its not his fault that the kid is just a sick, sick talent. He is the ultra-rare exception that he has such loads of ability that he can play with grown men, but he is the moon that middle and high school kids are shooting for, and the scenario starts all over again.
  16. Hmm, that's weird... how many could I post>

I'll just wait a year or so until the price drops, as always.
  18. Understand that this game is NOT created with the wrestling purists/smarks/geeks like us in mind. If you want that, go over to that wrestling sim whose name escapes me right now. If thats what they wanted to do, the stats would be based off of a 100 scale instead of 10. This game is for kids and teens. Any one of us, who have a minimum of ten to fifteen ideas to make the game better just on the surface are not going to be taken into account. I have yet to see a wrestling game going all the way back to Tag Team Wrestling that didn't have AI that you could not exploit if you know what you're doing. Consider SYM, where a female wrestler (much less a cruiserweight) could slam and throw around super heavyweights with impunity. HCTP addressed that, and it helped the game balance somewhat. For example, my Low-Ki CAW has very high stats, but the fact that he is a cruiserweight/light heavyweight cancels out about 40-60% of his moveset. Oh well, I just have to use other moves and a lot of strikes to wear down my opponent. Oh wait, thats what Low-Ki does in his real life matches. This game is not totally based on realism, and never has been. From top to bottom, it doesn't support that. I ran into that when making my Horsemen CAWs, and I just shrugged my shoulders and kept playing. It is what it is. Accept it, or don;t play, because excessive bitching about the game is exactly that.
  19. Shitty play balance? I will agree that some wrestlers ability scores and their moves needed to be tweaked, but I wouldn't call the balance shitty. Then again, with the logic set right, the moveset put in a certain way, a wrestler with strictly average stats can wreak unholy terror when played right. My Lex Luger CAW has only 6s right now, he still has a way to go, but he is annihilating some wrestlers.
  20. Bubba did an interview on Between The Ropes recently and he said that it was time for the Dudleyz to vanish for awhile. Not that I can blame them, after that horrible angle with Spike. This is why I wish that things were different, because the tag division would work if they were allowed to operate without a leash put on them, ability-wise, moveset-wise, and storyline-wise.
  21. That's just out and out pathetic.... The bright side is that she proved that a female coach can be taken seriously coaching men, if they honestly listen to her. I think she should take another step and try to break into the NBDL, although I would be shocked if that actually happened.
  22. I have done that, but they are not showing. All I see is "user posted image"
  23. I have to agree with that, which is why I haven;t played GT3 that much. NFS Underground is another story entirely. It might just be the extra Fast and Furious effects they threw in there, but when you have your tricked out ride doing 180 down the freeway, you actually *feel* like you;re going that fast.
  24. I am trying to place team signature flags in my sig, but I am having some trouble. Can someone please help?
  25. I'll prolly rent this one out before I buy it. I know what you mean about making CAWs that are a self-portait. I just could not do that with DoR despite taking a long time in trying... and I got pretty far in the Season Mode to where my namesake CAW was doing fairly well, but even at full speed I found it too slow... Ah well, one man's trash, another man's treasure. And I miss your DVD reviews.
