Superman: Secret Origins by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank
SuperJerk replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in Literature
I can't wait to read this. -
Blu Ray is Dead Also noted in the article is the Economy and the fact that people can get cheap upconverting DVD players that put out almost as good of a picture as HD and they dont have to spend double the money on the discs either. Marvin doesn't seem to understand the difference between fact and opinion.

Probably just a defective player.

And his inauguration like the scene in "Blazing Saddles" where the Sheriff first arrives in Rock Ridge.

There's a difference between hating someone and punching them in the face. We're not trying to stop people from believing in radical Islam, we're trying to stop them from committing acts of terrorism. Look at Iran...the only thing we care about is keeping them from having nukes and supporting terrorists. If we cared if they beleived in radical Islam, wed have already invaded. That's because we are at war with terrorism (hence the official term coined by the U.S. government: "War on Terror"), not radical Islam specifically. When North and others keep using the phrase "Radical Islam" it makes it sound like we are at war with a sect of a religion, when we are not. The U.S. does not fight religious wars.
-
And not because they like to fly planes into buildings and blow shit up? We're at war with them because of what they've done or we think they're planning to do, not because of what they believe.

One of the arguments for keeping Gates is that he has apparently been very non-partisan during his career. He may have worked in important positions for Republican presidents, but apparently hasn't declared his loyalty to one side or the other.
-
Why is it so wrong to insist on political nuetrality from faculty in the university classroom or only citing information that can actually be proven or defended with scholarly works? I also don't understand the conservativwe obsession with the term "radical Islam". We're not fighting them because of their religious views, we are fighting them because they are terrorists or (supposedly) pose a threat to American safety or world peace.

Good stuff. I read the book in 1984 and had no idea what had happened to Tony's brother. A kid reading that book today would probably wouldn't think twice at a reference to an older brother "dying for his country." (No comment from me on the Tony/Lisa storyline.)

I'm sure this has been said, but it is only a matter of time before it is revealed that Fred Phelps is, himself, gay.

You sometimes really have no idea when someone is legitimately trying to pick a fight because they hate you and when they're just being chronically cranky because they're a person who enjoys complaining and bitching like myself, do you. (Admittedly, I have not read any of Blume's books since they stopped forcing me to back in grade school. Was I missing some kind of overlooked genius in the prose stylings of Superfudge! and the like?) (Hey, was she the one who wrote that I, Houdini book about the hamster? I did like that one.) Screw you guys. This was a great book.

Seriously? Shut up. "Bender's Game" is awesome. The "Futurama" movies are really lacking IMO. They should have just let it end after the series ended. "Beast with a Billion Backs" sucked, but "Bender's Game"? A classic.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis
SuperJerk replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in Current Events
Just to clarify...when we're talking about Union workers causing problems for car companies, do we mean the American auto workers building Toyotas in Indiana, or the Mexican auto workers building Chevys in Ramos Arizpe? -
