The OAO Raw thread for 07.05.04

Eugene's music REALLY sounds like "Obsession" by Animotion.

The OAO Raw thread for 07.05.04

Tonight might be the night we all get sick of the Eugene gimmick.

The OAO Raw thread for 07.05.04

^Benoit vs. HHH was really good at the house show I was at couple of months ago.^ In theory, with two months of build-up, they should be able to get hype for 6 or 7 matches rolling. Having one Raw and one Smackdown PPV every month, like they seem to now want, isn't helping at all.

2 guys I now have great respect for.

I guess actually considering that whatever the guy said to her might have been out of line would defeat the purpose of this thread?

The OAO Raw thread for 07.05.04

^Word.^ Next thing you know the World Titles won't even be in the main event at PPVs anymore! This brand-exclusive PPV idea is failing badly. Every month they wait until the last minute to book half of the matches.

    This "favoritism" towards RAW

There was reportedly a decision made around this time to send all new/returning talent to Raw. The decision seemed to be apparent in three consecutive moves: Steiner's placement on Raw (which later turned out to be a huge mistake), the Rock's move, and then Goldberg's placement on Raw (which only makes sense if you think that the Rock and ONLY the Rock had to be the first to put him over...there was no Goldberg/Stone Cold program planned, and the only other reason to hire him--to feud with Brock--logically meant sticking him on Smackdown). The main event for Wrestlemania XIX may have been Smackdown's last shining moment before becoming Raw's bitch. The last bit of dirt was thrown on the Smackdown's coffin when Stephanie was taken off of TV so she could get married (Smackdown has become so low-priority the McMahon's won't even appear on it now), and Triple H officially became a part of the family (meaning he was officially considered the company's top star for life, and his show MUST be good so he'd look good).

    Trish Stratus Injured

Trish has nothing to worry about. I think Big Show proved the 30 day rule was dead with his US Title reign, didn't he?

    Review of Flair's book

^Flair's hypocricy is well documented.^ All you have to do is look at the "Monday Night Wars" DVD. Compare the speech he gave on the final Nitro to comments he made about WCW years later. Although, technically, Foley's not really "still" with the company, either. I bet Al Snow's sitting at home having a good laugh right now. Both Foley and Flair in the wrong here.
  13. Replace the word "concept" with "fuck" or "hell" and J.R. hit the nail right on the head.
  14. This shouldn't be a shock This story should have read: Fans Very Upset with Gunn & Holly Two of the wrestlers fans are most disgruntled with on SmackDown! are presently Billy Gunn and Bob Holly. Feeling that the two cannot "work for shit" the fans are upset with their excessive pushes and feel they deserve no more airtime. Management, however, is said to be happy with the two for having "marketable looks." The veterans are expected to help keep young wrestlers down and the feeling is that both Holly and Gunn did their job on that front.
  15. When Benoit feuds with someone, he proves how tough he is by wrestling people. Guerrero proves how tough he is by stealing limos and pouring beer into their hats, and finding other underhanded ways to embarrass them. I find Benoit far more entertaining.

    Brock Lesnar's Regrets

^Good point.^ In my opinion, it doesn't belong in sports until he actually gets signed by a team. Plus, he's an ex-WWE star who talks about the WWE in the interview. I think that means it belongs in this folder.

    Booker T...

Summerslam 2001. It was...ok-ish. But it had a really dumb ending, with Rock basically doing a direct no-sell of Booker's finisher and winning with his own. Was that the handicapped match with Shane? The handi-cap match was at Unforgiven the next month.

    Booker T...

Jericho defended the WCW title against Booker on Smackdown on the October 25, 2001 episode. Most of Booker's good matches in the WWE were during the Invasion.

    Smackdown Spoilers

Summerslam's not for another 6 weeks, though. That's four weeks after the steel cage match. Doesn't it make more sense to put the belt back on Eddie, then have the Angle/Guerrero rematch at Summerslam? Every once in a while he'll throw in a reference to his opponent's masturbation habits. Give the man a little credit, here.
