I see Danny "Damaja" Basham and Grenier as being in the most trouble. Grenier has Patterson to lobby for him and Damaja has all his OVW buddies. I think these guys probably work cheaper than most of the guys who got cut too. That's key in looking at this stuff - How much hossness do you have? (likely to get multiple chances to get over) - How roided are you? (Vince will mark hard and give you many chances to get over) - Are you in any programs? (if so, you're safe) - Who are your backstage friends? (HHH, Taker, Michaels?) - How big is your contract? (if it's big you might get cut) - How long have you been in WWE? (If it's 8 years or more you're pretty safe) - Were you in WCW? (you're probably going to get cut)

Venis is going to stick around, the guy has just been on fire and is having good matches with everyone. Doesn't hurt to have a guy on hand who can make anyone look good (look at his match against Masters). Conway's probably the guy with the best look out of all the OVW Originals so he stays. Tomko still has hoss size. Scotty has seniority. I don't see many more cuts until Heat and Velocity disappear.

Scotty's been around longer than all those guys who got cut, thusly he stays.

Booker v.s. Benoit #1 contender for the US title - They thought it would be cool because they did it in WCW in their "Best of 7 Feud". Plus Benoit isn't doing anything. Morgan getting jumped by the Mexicools is revenge for all the hoss beatdowns of Cruiserweights over the years. It's deliciously ironic because usually they'd have a throwaway match between some cruiserweights, then Big Show/Taker/Nash/Kane/Scott Steiner would run out and destroy all of them. In this case, Morgan and Regal have a throwaway match and Morgan gets owned by the Mexicools. I think it's very cheap heat and offensive to have a guy play an Arab-American, make a throat-slashing gesture, use Daivari as a "suicide bomber", bring in hooded terrorists to choke out Taker with piano wire when he gets in trouble, and then carry off Daivari like a martyr. It's Vince exploiting 9/11 for financial gain which is sick beyond sick. Definitely a Court Bauer influence on this show, I think

Weirdest... Smackdown... Ever.

It's pretty easy. Michaels talks about how many titles he has and how many great matches he has, how he's not a washed up hasbeen, but he's mad playing second banana to Hogan when he's the showstopper, blah blah blah. Basically, I'm better than Hogan and the fans don't give the respect I deserve. And you have to go hmm a bit with Angle, Flair, HHH, and Michaels all heel with Flair's comments a few months ago with who he said he wanted to be in a WWE Four Horsemen.

Um, there is no buyrate for One Night Stand in those numbers. That's the Backlash buyrate that is 270,000. There's no numbers listed for May, let alone June (when ONS happened). And considering if you look at the legend where they plot out the buyrates, the estimates are as of April 30th. It'd be pretty hard to estimate a One Night Stand buyrate on April 30th. Please read the PDFs before you agree with anyone who posts this kind of crap.

OVW TV Report for 6/25/05... Taped, as always, from the Davis Arena in Louisville, KY on the Wednesday before this aired. You go looked up the date if you're a completist archiving wrestling history, I'm too lazy this week. - We start with a clip of Synn "returning" and attacking Beth Phoenix from last week, which is apparently supposed to be a big deal. Synn is Cornette's girlfriend and is really gross. - LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOOAHAR! - Our Hosts are Jim Cornette and Dean "The Duke of Louisville" Hill. Tonight Bolin and Cornette reveal their Six Flags teams, a "Beat the Champ TV Title" rematch, the Blonde Bombers and Ken Anderson get ready for Chris Cage and the Dudleys at Six Flags. Danny Inferno (w/ Synn) v.s. "The" Paul Burchill. Synn is rocking about 4 double chins and is grosser than ever. Burchill is well on his way to getting in WWE shape. This Friday, Danny Inferno and Aaron "The Idol" Stevens blow off their six month long running feud. Solid match here but nothing special. I'm high on Paul Burchill, especially knowing the crazy spots he used to do in England. The only trace of that here was a standing moonsault attempt. Inferno hits a Michinoku Driver #2 for a 2-count. Burchill reaches in his tights to either pull out a chain or whack off. Synn sprays him with mace and Inferno hits a flatliner for the three count. Here comes Tank Toland, Chad Toland, Ken Anderson, Jillian Hall, and Melissa Coates for an interview. Ken Anderson is now "Mr. Anderson" or something. He claims everyone is a "natural blonde" and is "over six foot two". Tank Toland says they are the "alpha males" and are the "top of the food chain". Tank says he beat Chris Cage all by himself last week and Chad would have beaten Cage if Cage wasn't a cheater. - OVW Live in Vernon. 6 big matches July 8. - Let us take you back to last week with The Thrillseekers v.s. Osama and Da Beast. Mo Greene interfered to help the heels win. - Osama and Da Beast v.s. Chet the Jet and Nick Nemuth. Pretty dull match. Mo Green sits in on commentary and explains after the Heartbreakers "stabbed him in the back" and left him behind in OVW, he looked for a new team. He asked the Thrillseekers if he could manage them and they told him no, so he went to Osama and Da Beast and now he's going to get his revenge on them for turning him down. Anyway, Osama and the Da Beast finally win clean with a sidewalk slam/elbow combination doubleteam. - Ken Donne (w/ Kenny Bolin) v.s. Deuce Shade. Beat the Champ TV Title match. Deuce Shade was Jimmy Snuka, Jr before, now he's got some kind of lame "The Gambler"/Kill Bill gimmick. He throws a deck of cards into the crowd. Deuce hits a nice top rope legdrop/armbreaker and later a top rope leg lariat, but this is quite dull. Cornette hard sells the Six Flags Show. Donne hits the Donneation for a 2 count and he can't believe it. Bolin tries to hit Shade with the briefcase but gets punched out. Mike Mondo runs in and hits Shade with the briefcase. Elbow drop by Donne and he gets a 3 count. Donne is the new TV champ and gets ... one thousand dollars. Blaster hits a powerslam on Shade. Albright and Elijah Burke hit the ring and clean house until Bolin throws powder in their eyes. Cornette goes crazy and says "THAT'S TOO DAMN MUCH" and hits the ring. He starts punching Bolin like crazy. Hill goes "OH JESUS, NO" as Donne decks Cornette and Blaster Lasheley gives him a big powerslam. Bolin takes his shoes and sock off and Donne makes Cornette kiss Bolin's foot. Hill is really racking up the "JESUS" count here as he gets another mention and a "Good GAWD" in. There's a huge pop! It's Eugene with a KENDO STICK. Huge "EUGENE" chant. Dinsmore goes crazy and clears the ring with Kendo stick shots. Cornette and Eugene hug. We'll be back with a final word from Team OVW. - Cornette cuts a classic promo to close out the show. Deuce Shade will be guarding the door with a kendo stick. He says Mama Dinsmore named him Nick but the world knows him as Eugene and he will be the third man in Team OVW. Lots of great lines in this one as Cornette uses a bottle of water to try to wash the taste of Bolin's foot. Wow... this show was very dull, but that angle at the end was super-hot and a great promo by Cornette saved it. The stuff at the end makes the show worth checking out this week.

It's supposedly going to be up sometime today on the website. Some admins on the TNA forum said it was supposed to be up at 4 PM EST, which obviously isn't the case.

He's very good in his role by wrestling standards. He has his own character that isn't just a Vince McMahon ripoff which are what most of the "authority figures" before him weref. He can act very slimey. I'd rather they get rid of the GM/Authority figures for good, but Bischoff does a good job and has kept himself somewhat fresh. Thankfully they haven't done any authority figure v.s. wrestler crap lately, which is what is really stale. He's also been a bit more of a tweener in the last six months... just enough to be unpredictable and not side with the heels 10 times out of 10.

True, but like I said they have had quite a long time to plan ahead for this. But maybe they figure there was no point to have blowaway shows considering they arent on cable right now. There might be more stuff they add to each show too in post production. With that said, I dont know how large their syndicated network is (I would guess not very big at all) but apparently Impact will be aired in it's place, so TNA does have a little TV coverage, fortunately a channel (Sunshine Network out of Florida) which I have. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> According to PWInsider, they thought the tapings last night had the best in-ring wrestling in the company's history, so it's probably a lot better than it looks on paper. When you have so much stuff on these shows, it's hard to figure out how they're going to put all these matches together into a show or what backstage stuff they're going to add to flesh things out.

It's kind of hard to book really great shows when you have to tape four shows in one night. I think they did as well as you can expect.

New Jack is even scared to death of Smothers, if that tells you anything. Smothers is one crazy mutha and I'd pay to see he and JBL fight it out.

That makes sense, because said person wrestled in Puerto Rico over the weekend and is probably on his way back quite soon.

4 1-hour shows is plenty of time. The booking just needs to be on, and since D'Amore has taken over it's been very good. OVW builds up to a show every 2 or 3 weeks on its weekly TV during the summer, so there's no reason TNA can't successfully build a PPV every 4 or 5 weeks.

No offsides No icing Fighting where the loser goes to the penalty box. Bigger puck (or more HD coverage of games) No ties, 4th quarter and then shootouts. Fewer games

I think they'd allow him to continue working some ROH shows if the WWE office was cool with it. Matthews wasn't signed to a WWE deal when he was in 3PW. The other possibilities are 1) Non-WWE OVW wrestler beats him for the title, 2) ROH guy comes onto OVW TV/OVW event and beats Punk for the belt (and wouldn't you know it, ROH distributes OVW tapes), or 3) ROH/OVW co-promote a show in Louisville.

Yep, there could be a great CW and tag division with everyone they have on Smackdown now (and I'm sure Tajiri will be joining them). At least Velocity is going to rule for a couple months before it ends. I wonder how long before the Juvy/Los Guerreros v.s. Rey/Psicosis/Crazy 6-man on Smackdown?
