  1. So I guess the Bruins are back from the dead, eh? Must be something in the water in Boston.
  2. The SEC's three-way tiebreaker rule, courtesy of Ivan Maisel of ESPN.com: That seems a lot more sensible to me. Not to knock Oklahoma, because they've got a great team, and would give Alabama or Florida a terrific fight in the MNC game, but I just think Texas should be in the Big XII title game.
  3. Still in a tie, but only a two-way tie now. Hopefully I can pull away next week, as I get KC head to head.
  4. This. Although my dislike for Ken and Tina has abated somewhat. And Dallas losing the passports IS the mistake that keeps one of the teams from joining everyone else at the finish line. If you freeze frame the previews for next week, Toni and Dallas are absent from the group to greet the winners at the finishing mat.

    NFL Week 13

Today was as good as it could possibly go for the Broncos. Pretty awesome that we're almost guaranteed a trip to the playoffs when I figured on a distant second-place finish this year.

    NFL Week 13

No, because they beat the Broncos earlier this season, not the Raiders.
  7. They want to overturn the government and take power themselves. Always a danger when there's a minority, since the party with the most seats still needs support from at least one other party to govern. Even if the coalition succeeds in taking power, it's tough to imagine them keeping it for more than a year and a half or so. Re the election payment: If you think of it as you paying whoever you vote for $1.95 out of your tax contribution, it's really not that bad. But that's just my opinion.

    NFL Week 13

And instead we get Jay Cutler just having fun out there. Dammit.

    NFL Week 13

This game needs some more of Favre just having fun out there.
  10. For the polls, only point total matters. They changed that a few years ago. So OU being ahead by 1 point really doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things does it? It's basically a tie. If Texas comes out ahead by a few points in the Harris Poll then they could easily take this couldn't they? Highly unlikely, because OU will almost certainly be ahead by a decent margin in the computer polls. Texas would need to be ahead by a bunch in the Harris Poll, something on the order of UT #2 and OU #6.

  12. Bullshit like the Tories using a legitimate economic crisis as an excuse to try and wipe their rivals off the face of the earth does piss me off to no end. The more I see of Harper, the more I believe he hates actually governing.
  13. Ten barely-awake people walk by a bill lying on the ground in a pitch black parking lot at 5:30 in the morning. Get my broker on the phone!
  14. Rae is apparently doing a lot of the behind the scenes wrangling on this, so I could see him as PM. Of course, that would make the leadership race a foregone conclusion, so maybe not. Tories are worried enough that they put the vote on the economic statement off for a week. Chretien put this in about four years ago, at the same time that he basically abolished huge donations from businesses and other large organizations. It's actually been hailed as a terrific idea abroad. It eliminates the perception that politicians are in the back pocket of industry and special interest groups, and gives fledgling parties like Green who collect a lot of votes but can't get anyone elected in this system a hand in moving forward. It amount to about $30 million, which really isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.
  15. I expect in that situation we would see a sort of "poll reorganization" by the voters that ends up with Texas Tech ahead of Texas. I don't see any way at all of that happening. Tech has just fallen too hard after the Texas win, getting squashed by the Sooners and barely getting by Baylor at home.
  16. I was listening to Mike and Mike on Monday and Dick Vitale was saying the same thing. Then Golic disagreed and said they should accept it for all the extra practice time they'd get. I mean, WTF.
  17. Denver - 23 Buffalo Baltimore Indianapolis Carolina Denver Miami Tampa Bay N.Y. Giants San Diego New England Oakland Chicago Houston
  18. But if we were, I'd say the greatest team of any kind I've ever seen in my lifetime has to be the original Dream Team.
  19. Doing one team per sport, I'd go with: - 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens. First team to win 60 games in a season, went 12-2 in the playoffs. Too many Hall of Famers to count. - 1985 Chicago Bears. 15-1 in the regular season, then swept through the playoffs by a combined score of 91-10. The most dominant team from start to finish. - 1927 New York Yankees. Still the gold standard for baseball. They won 110 games, you had Babe's 60 HR season, Gehrig hit 47 and set a major league record with 175 RBI (the AL mark, of course, still stands), and they swept the Pirates convincingly in the World Series. - 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. 72-10 says it all. Other teams I'd mention that I haven't seen yet: - 1985-86 Boston Celtics - 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers - 1975 Cincinnati Reds - 2007 New England Patriots (yeah, I said it)
  20. From Associated Press: They can't even wait five goddamn minutes to get a $30 copy of Madden 09? Society's going to hell.
  21. The list of bowls on wiki has the MAC tie-in being the champion. Plus this year the Motor City Bowl has first choice of all the MAC teams. There'd need to be some politicking done to get Ball State away from Detroit this year (and I hope there is).
  22. The MAC champion is committed to the Motor City Bowl. I don't think that's necessarily true. If not, tell me how.
  23. The MAC champion is committed to the Motor City Bowl.
  24. That's a good choice. I'd go with the 1977 Canadiens, though. 60-8-12 in the regular season, 12-2 in the playoffs.
  25. Green stuff is awesome. Except my family makes it with cottage cheese instead of cool whip. Well, maybe there's some cool whip in there, I'm not sure.
