Yeah, I remember reading about Vance's career in "Strange But True Baseball Stories" by Furman Bisher. His chapter was called, "Back Road to the Hall of Fame." It's quite an interesting book...lots of good stories, including the usual suspects like Eddie Gaedel, Dusty Rhodes and the Miracle of Coogan's Bluff, but also some little-known stories, like a minor-league catcher who pitched a 20-inning game, and the only player ever to hit three homers in an inning. But I digress.

I'm a little less optimistic about the season after seeing the Jays blow a 6-0 lead over friggin' Tampa Bay. The back end of the rotation and middle relief may not be up to the task yet.

After seeing for the first time, the Flair/von Erich match at Texas Stadium qualifies. Crowd was NUCLEAR cheering for Kerry the entire match. They were going nuts for a fight over a wristlock.

Hockey is easily the best sport live, IMO. It's the only sport I prefer to watch live than on TV.
