  1. Come on Mickey Rourke!
  2. I always think it's bullshit that everyone gets played off the stage, yet the actors can ramble on forever.
  3. Terry Funk is in that movie? Holy shit. I saw Fired Up and there were problems with the first five minutes. First we got sound and no picture, then we got picture and no sound. We didn't get a free movie pass, which pissed me off.
  4. With all this verbal BJing of The Reader, you would think the movie was good.
  5. Fair enough, Anakin. The special effects were amazing, with the way they aged Pitt. Nothing from Iron Man stood out to me.
  6. I like the idea of doing montages to 2008 movies, rather than random montages to genres. The montages to genres were getting old and played out.
  7. Wasn't he snubbed last year? Danny Boyle's oh shit I won reaction is awesome.
  8. Christmas Eve. Many movie theatres shut down.
  9. Heath died in time for last year's Oscars. Also to the whining about Button winning, come on. The visual effects in that movie were more impressive than anything in TDK or Iron Man
  10. Also, they shouldn't have played music when Ledger won, let the silence tell the story. Also, Newman deserved his own tribute segment.
  11. Enchanted had three songs nominated, so I think they made it so you can't have more than two. Watching the first 2.5 hours on DVR was awesome, best Oscars ever!
  12. Yea, the predictions thread should be the Oscars thread
  13. Never happened. Fired Up wasn't the worst movie of the year, so it exceeded my expectations.
  14. Best Picture Slumdog Millionaire - Christian Colson Slumdog in a landslide. Nobody cares about Frost/Nixon and The Reader has been getting a ton of backlash, and it's also a film that no one likes. Benjamin Button has polarised people, and Milk is still a movie about the very attractive in a way that I can't explains. Slumdog is a film that everyone has loved, it's been gaining momentum since awards season started, and the attempts at a backlash haven't really worked. Best Director Danny Boyle – Slumdog Millionaire If Slumdog's winning Best Picture, then Boyle is winning Best Director. Best Actor Mickey Rourke – The Wrestler Jenkins and Pitt have no chance, and Frost/Nixon is just limping to the show. It's a tough call between Penn and Rourke. The wrestling stuff will hurt Rourke, but people also don't like Penn. The Oscars like to tell a story, and what better story than Rourke winning, especially since Penn's won before? Best Actress Kate Winslet – The Reader Pretty easy to predict. No one has seen Frozen River, and no one cares about Changeling. Rachel Getting Married never really peaked, and Meryl Streep's won before. Winslet's 0-5 and has to win sometime, and The Reader will have to win something. Best Supporting Actor Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight I think Ledger will win, but don't be surprised if Brolin takes it. Best Supporting Actress Viola Davis – Doubt Cruz is the odds on favourite, which means she's not winning. Viola Davis' TEN MINUTES OF ACTING!~ has won over everyone but me, and it will also be some small controversy that she's in only in two scenes. Best Original Screenplay Milk - Dustin Lance Black Milk has to get something. Best Adapted Screenplay Slumdog Millionaire - Simon Beaufoy Best Animated Feature WALL-E – Andrew Stanton Best Foreign Language Film Waltz with Bashir (Israel) in Hebrew - Ari Folman Best Animated Short Oktapodi - Emud Mokhberi and Thierry Marchand Best Art Direction The Duchess – Michael Carlin, Rebecca Alleway Best Cinematography Slumdog Millionaire – Anthony Dod Mantle Best Costume Design The Duchess – Michael O'Connor Best Documentary Feature Man on Wire Best Documentary Short The Witness - From the Balcony of Room 306 Best Film Editing Slumdog Millionaire – Chris Dickens Best Live Action Short The Pig (Grisen) Best Makeup The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – Greg Cannom Best Original Score Slumdog Millionaire – A. R. Rahman Best Original Song "Down to Earth" from WALL-E – Peter Gabriel and Thomas Newman (music), Peter Gabriel (lyrics) Best Sound Editing The Dark Knight – Richard King Best Sound Mixing The Dark Knight – Lora Hirschberg, Gary Rizzo, Ed Novick Best Visual Effects The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – Eric Barba, Steve Preeg, Burt Dalton, Craig Barron

  16. That was hilarious, b/c no one was allowed to remotely criticise her.
  17. Golden Girls was on NBC. They did air the short lived Golden Palace in 1992-1993. Matlock never aired on CBS, it was on NBC and then ABC. Also, until it had to face NBC's juggernaut lineup in 1994, Murder...She Wrote was actually a hit show
  18. Yes. I've expressed my displeasure for Crawford numerous times, with reason #1 being that no Canucks fan wants to listen to him
  19. Joe Millionaire actually ranked third its first year on the air
  20. It's not they're beating them, it's how they're beating them. They only allowed SMU 14 second half points. And while on paper beating UTEP isn't impressive, because of all the linkage between the two teams, the games always manage to be closer than you'd think. In fact, they were leading Memphis late in the second half in last year's game, and that was AT Memphis. Derrick Rose being Derrick Rose is what allowed Memphis to win that game.
  21. I like the Nutty Professor too, but family friendly Eddie is getting old. Did you see the trailer for Imagine That?
  22. I'm not saying he was a great GM, but I think you can disqualify the guy when he was GM when the Mets made their only World Series in 20 years. John Ferguson kind of sucked in Toronto
  23. Those were bad moves at the end, you really can't consider him one of the Worst General Managers given the success the Mets had in 99-00. And everyone loved the Alomar trade at the time.
  24. Wasn't he GM when the Mets made the World Series, and drafted Kazmir, Wright and signed Reyes, along with trading for Piazza and Leiter?
