  1. Only Vancouver. Ah well, let's hope we get them in Game 6
  2. No, there's still a few more episodes to go
  3. I have an M.D. from Harvard, I am board certified in cardio-thoracic medicine and trauma surgery, I have been awarded citations from seven different medical boards in New England, and I am never, ever sick at sea. So I ask you; when someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees and they pray to God that their wife doesn't miscarry or that their daughter doesn't bleed to death or that their mother doesn't suffer acute neural trama from postoperative shock, who do you think they're praying to? Now, go ahead and read your Bible, _Dennis_, and you go to your church, and, with any luck, you might win the annual raffle, but if you're looking for God, he was in operating room number two on November 17, and he doesn't like to be second guessed. You ask me if I have a God complex. Let me tell you something: I am God.
  4. I'll be there in person to cheer on the Nucks, Bob. Any chant ideas? I love the Turrrrrrrrco chants. Chant some stuff for Trevor- he's the man.
  5. SNL Review- Shia LaBeouf/Avril Lavigne Mailbag!!!!!!- Hey Bob- I thought Wrestlemania 23 last weekend was a very fun show. Whatever would’ve ruled did rule, and whatever would’ve sucked did suck. Lashley-Umaga was fun to watch, and Trump poorly selling the Stunner was hilarious. MITB was awesome but I’m pissed about two things: (1) Edge’s streak is over and (2) CM Punk didn’t do anything totally insane. But those was compensated by two other things: (1) Jeff’s spot and (2) Kennedy disposing of Little Bastard and winning. Now, the misses- Like last year, Benoit’s match was disappointing- I blinked and it was over. The ECW tag match was blah b/c they didn’t make it hardcore. Kane-Khali was a good bathroom break opportunity. Melina-Ashley was hilariously embarrassing- and Ashley’s gimmick reminds of Avril Lavigne. As for the main events, Big Dave-Taker was better than I had thought it would be. And Cena-HBK was flat-out great. Overall, Wrestlemania this year was pretty good but I’d say that last year’s was a tad better- mostly because the midcard this year was very eh. But at least all of my predictions came out to be true. Anyway, Bob- What did you think of the show? How do feel about next year’s Wrestlemania being held in Florida at an open-air stadium? Thanks. Later- Ken Trump’s awful stunner was hilarious, Lashley-Umaga was stupid but fun to watch. MITB was awesome, and I don’t mind Edge’s streak being over- plays into his character. And if you’re streak is going to end, might as well end like that. Punk was awesome, he almost won the match! Benoit’s match was awesome- it went almost 10 minutes. It really should’ve been a 20-25 minute to truly tell its story, but for a sub-10 minute match it was great. I liked WM though. Thought it was a fun show. Chad Ruffner writes- Raw this past Monday night continued the company's recent string of uninspired, boring, drab, post W.M. programming. This one may have been the worst yet. As one reader on PWTorch.com put it, "I felt like I was watching a televised house show." I couldn't have but it better myself. Hindsight is 20/20, but I warned fans that The WWE was more than likely going to hit the skids again after W.M., as the next major ppv, Summer-Slam, isn't for another 4 months. It looks like I may not have been that off so far. Thumbs Down. What Did You Think? Chad I honestly missed it, b/c I read the spoilers and saw that the show looked lame. But it’s post-WM so they’re not going to book super shows. Wanna be in the mailbag???? Email me at [email protected] Cold Opening Cast- Darrell Hammond, Kenan Thompson Thoughts- You knew Imus had to be the cold opening, so why not bring out Jesse and Al, which always brings the goods. Come on, am I the only one who thought Darrell Hammond was secretly fired and they just decided not to tell anyone? This was pretty funny with some good lines, although I found it to be a bit too long. If Imus had been a bit timelier with his comments, nothing would’ve happened to him since the V-Tech story would’ve brushed him under the rug. Good riddance to bad rubbish though. *** Monologue Cast- Lorne Michaels, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Sudeikis, Amy Poehler, Thompson, Hammond, Kristen Wiig Thoughts- Spelling LaBeouf is going to be a fun exercise all night. How does Shia LaBeouf end up hosting SNL anyway? Did everyone else say no? This SNL season has been the year of the B-level hosts. Even though they just did the go backstage monologue, I’ll give them a pass since this was pretty funny and it was weird to see Darrell in the monologue. I also enjoyed seeing Wally on cue cards. I loved his exchange with Sudeikis and thought the bit at the end with Kristen was cute. Given what happened to Finesse, I’d be paranoid to do any bits where Lorne “forgets†my name. This was funny too and it was good to see how enthusiastic Shia was. *** Moustache Ride Cast- Alec Baldwin, Bill Hader, Hammond, Seth Meyers, Will Forte, Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Sudeikis, Armisen, Thompson, Andy Samberg Thoughts- Watching this in dress, I wondered what the hell this was. It looked awful and pointless and it was a pure DUD. I even grew angry, as I only went to dress to see Avril Lavigne, and I had to sit through this crap? Then someone told me what a moustache ride was. And boy did I feel stupid. The same thing happened with the Colonel Angus skit back in 2003. I sat there dumbfounded, not getting the joke at all while someone IMed me in disbelief that SNL was getting away with this. They then were embarrassingly forced to explain to me why Colonel Angus was so funny. I felt like an idiot. So watching this again, I laughed at some of it. I still didn’t think it was that great, but it was a lot funnier once I knew what a moustache ride was. Plus it was Baldwin a skit written by Downey. ***1/4 Prince Show Cast- LaBeouf, Armisen, Rudolph, Poehler Thoughts- Let’s recap: When the Prince Show debuted on February 14th, 2004- it was to mock the bizarre duet that Prince and Beyonce Knowles did at the Grammys. It was the last skit of the night and I gave it **1/4. That was THREE years ago. Does anyone even remember that? If anything, people now remember Prince for his Super Bowl halftime performance where he covered a Foo Fighters song and at one point he held his guitar so it looked like he had a big penis. The Prince Show baffles me, as it’s never been all that funny. Shia’s Tobey Maguire impression was good stuff, but the rest was the usual Prince Show crap. *1/2 We’re 21 Cast- LaBouef, Samberg, Hader, Forte, Thompson Thoughts- This had a good setup but it got way too convoluted once Hader came in, and especially got retarded once Forte entered the scene. Samberg’s moustache only being half on was some funny stuff and a nice touch. But come on kids- fake ID, it ain’t that hard. ** Dakota Fanning Show Cast- AVRIL LAVIGNE!, LaBouef, Wiig, Thompson, Poehler, Samberg Thoughts- Holy shit! It’s Avril in a skit! Awesome!! Best show ever! Is it wrong that I know found Elle Fanning attractive now that Avril has played her? I can feel Chris Hansen standing over me as I typed that. I think the Dakota Fanning show has real potential to be recurring even though Amy really doesn’t look or sound anything like her. As someone who watches the Disney Channel, seeing them impersonate Cole and Dylan Sprouse was pretty cool. I don’t recall an episode of Suite Life where they had to watch a dog though. There was an episode where they had to run a daycare though. Good stuff. Enjoyed the interplay between Reggie and Dakota, and even though she didn’t do anything, Avril as Elle was still awesome. A quick check of wikipedia reveals that none of Elle’s next films are about an Italian composer. ***3/4 SNL Digital Short Cast- LaBouef, Hader, Samberg, Armisen, Wiig, Sudeikis Thoughts- Apparently this was a spoof of the second season finale of the OC, but I first heard this song when watching the pilot of Smith. Poor Ray Liotta. This was really awesome though, especially all of their faces after they just got shot, and Shia walking in only to get blown away. Kristen getting shot multiple times with the song restarting each time was easily my favourite part. The ending felt a bit tacked on, but this was some great stuff most of the way through. **** Sofa King Cast- LaBouef, Armisen, Rudolph, Hader, Samberg Thoughts- One day SNL will run out of words that sound like dirty words. Colonel Angus, Cork Soakers, that whole book discussion skit with Joshua Jackson, it will be a sad day when that happens. Even though I didn’t get Moustache Riders, the minute I walked into an 8H and saw a set with Sofa King in big letters, I knew what we were getting. This was alright, I laughed at some of the puns, but I didn’t think the stuff with their kids was really all that funny. **3/4 Avril Lavigne “Girlfriend†Thoughts- AVRIL!! I admit that it took a while for Girlfriend to grow on me, as has accepting that the sound from Under My Skin looks to have been a one-time thing. I understand it, though I do wish Avril would realize how amazing her slow introspective songs are. Also, Avril should know that backup singers usually suck (hence why they’re backup singers) and her backup singers were especially terrible. I mean, they were so awful that they were distracting. BUT, it’s Avril so of course it was great and she rocked the house. Loved the pink microphone stand too, and Girlfriend is a fun song to listen to. So yay Avril. ***3/4 Weekend Update Cast- Meyers, Poehler, Hammond, Hader, Armisen, Rudolph, Samberg ***1/4 Thoughts- Another not great WU, though I blame this on the commentaries. And come on guys, MORE Andy? His bit with Maya was funny, but this much Andy Samberg should be criminal. Darrell’s Don Imus impression was awful and a complete waste of a big news story. The two gay guys from Connecticut was not nearly as funny as the two gay guys from New Jersey. They cut a bit from dress that featured the Stanley Cup. It was brutually unfunny, but featured the Stanley Cup in my presence. This meant that for all of Weekend Update, I took off my hat, and put my hand over my heart and asked for the Cup to please come to Vancouver. The jokes were really good though, with Seth’s Duke joke being amazing. ***1/4 Selling Knives Cast- LaBouef, Forte, Wiig Thoughts- It’s time for the weekly bizarre Will Forte skit! This one was not one of his best, even though it had its moments. Forte cutting off his finger to prove a point and Wiig’s last name being Ginsu were the highlights. I hated the ending though, if you’re going to have a dog rip apart Will Forte don’t make it look that blatantly fake. ** An Intimate Moment with John Mayer and Jessica Simpson Cast- Wiig, Hader Thoughts- In dress, we had three of these! Given that I was patiently waiting for Avril to sing I Can Do Better, I was ready to kill everyone associated with these skits, so I could get my Avril. Jessica Simpson singing at the end was the only funny part. * Avril Lavigne “I Can Do Better†Thoughts- I like this song more then Girlfriend, even though the backup singers really have to go. I also liked that during this song we got pouty Avril, which is always awesome. This is a really great song, and I’m glad Avril played rather then Keep Holding On, which everyone had heard. **** Maya Seduces Shia.. Cast- LaBouef, Rudolph Thoughts- Poor Shia. DUD The Bottom Line- The avg. skit was **.66 making this a thumbs up show. The skits weren’t that great but they had help from Avril, who of course was my favourite musical guest of the year. So for those of you who don’t like Avril, I can totally understand if you didn’t care for this show. They didn’t give Shia much to do. I’m also thankful that they cut out all the crap from dress. Trust me, dress was loooong and slow. But live was quite good. Thumbs Up
  6. VS is showing tonight's Canucks v. Stars game JIP. Thanks NHL!

    TAFKA Goldust theme

Thanks for the theme, Richard McBeef. I really appreciate it.
  8. I'm going to Braves-Mets on Saturday! Get to see Chuck James in person for the first time
  9. Congrats. Last time I was warned was for a "tasteless Eddy Guerrero joke." The remark was neither tasteless or a joke so HTQ was 0-2. But it does make me wonder if people got warned for their comments in the VTech thread.
  10. Que? They hate Jews
  11. Was anyone warned for their comments in the VTech thread? Some of the stuff said in there was tasteless, and I know the mods don't tolerate tasteless remarks
  12. Your name is Jason223_ThePit. Come on!
  13. 1. Some of you assholes seem to be forgetting that the white guy who blew himself up outside the Oklahoma U football stadium a few years back turned out to be a recent Islamic convert. He wasn't exactly a stereotypical Muslim and it took some digging to prove that he was one. 2. THIS guy just appears to be a batshit-crazy Korean guy, but the lack of an immediate ID on the shooter and a code-word of "Asian" has been a press trademark in the past when it comes to arrests of "militants", which turn out to be Middle-Eastern Islamists from areas like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. A lack of immediate ID shouldn't be surprising in hindsight, though, considering that the V-Tech administration seemed very hesitant to say something that wasn't total CYA after the initial dorm shootings. Oh, the Pit
  14. Do I lose geek points if I point out that I've never played Dungeons and Dragons?
  15. A midget once threatened to kick my ass because he thought we were making fun of him. But he didn't, he just cursed me out. My friend was hoping he'd take a run at me since he thought it'd be funny to fight a midget.
  16. Never got my ass kicked once. No one really ever got beat up at my school. Plus I usually brought my lunch. With my mouth and the horribly offensive things that come out of it, people always say I'm going to get beat up one day. I'm still waiting.
  17. There's 2-3 different pics of me with a tampon in my mouth. I'm glad CWM appreciates my spelling.
  18. Bill McNeal Lisa Miller Phil Hartman me British Bulldog Jenna Fischer Stanley from the Office
  19. Yea I know, I have to do my duty as an ROHBot. Even though I did NOTG2 sucked ass. What do you think of the whole argument and ROH Fans HTQ?
  20. Booing Austin Aries whenever he did anything during his match against Punk, and cheering Punk for the same. Isn't that suspending disbelief? Ditto the Embassy. The fans for the most part HATE Jimmy Rave. Another match is Strong v. Punk from Escape from New York. The crowd was begging for Strong to chop the shit out of Punk and take the title. The biggest example is Jimmy Rave though, since people really hate the guy. Whenever I see him walking around, I ignore him, since I do hate the guy. And people have been raving about feuds in ROH since 2003 since the Raven-Punk feud. I really don't know what you're trying to argue here. ROH hooked its fanbase on doing indy dream matches for the first little bit. That was starting to get stale, so during their Reborn process, the booking philosophy changed a bit and now most of the matches on the show usually have a lot of backstory and further the feuds. I still don't see what the problem is with fans watching a show because they will get a good in-ring product. ROH fans DO get emotionally involved in matches. Aries v. Joe from Final Battle is another example. I don't understand how can you rip on the fanbase when you've never been to a show. And at the ROH Board, after every show there's always a thread where people complain about the behaviour of the fans and it gets annoying. The dueling chants can be lame, but I'll never understand people in the ROH fanbase who just get so anal about what the crowd is doing and what they're chanting, and can't just enjoy the show and have a good time. I mean seriously, it's just wrestling. I mean OMG half the fans are chanting for one guy, the other half are chanting for the other guy, let go and have fun. And at Escape from New York, the chants for Homicide and Lethal were legit, because fans were emotionally involved in the Lethal v. Rotts feud. You're generalising again. Not every match has chants and the fans trying to put themselves over. The wrestlers do get the crowd into their matches, just watch any of the big ROH matches with guys like Homicide, Punk, Joe, Gibson, Aries, etc. I mean I go to ROH shows to slap the wrestler's hand, go crazy for Nigel, call Lacey a whore, see my friends and see some good wrestling. Most ROH fans go to the show just to have a good time and good wrestling. Not with some grand notion of how to put themselves over. I'll go to any ROH show if its in my area and I'm home for it because I like the product they put out. And I do get emotionally invested in the feuds. I mean I get into the big storylines and usually end up booing the heels like mad, and going crazy for the faces. Unless it's Nigel. Kobashi vs Joe Greatest. Match. Ever. First, the crowd was absolutely on fire for this match. Kobashi was getting a lot of cheers and would get the fans on their feet by just looking at them and hulking up. I have never seen Joe so intense for this match. He came up with Lethal as his second/assistant. Match starts with Joe slapping Kobashi and Kobashi returning the favor. The first Kobashi chop gets the fans on their feet. Kobashi is thrown outside and Joe hits him with a baseball slide (maybe i dont remember well) and hits a suicide dive onto him for "Holy ****" chants. Goes back inside for some insane stiff chopping which gets the electric crowd on their feet. It goes back outside where Joe hits an ole ole kick. However, Kobashi avoids the second one and instead hits a move of his own which received a huge pop but I couldn't see. Kobashi DDTs Joe on the floor. Goes back inside for more chopping. Joe eventually gets control after a Kobashi abdominal stretch and starts locking on submission holds. Eventually Joe reverses a Kobashi suplex into a suplex of his own. Joe places him on the turnbuckle and hits him with a Muscle Buster! Crowd is going wild for only a two count. Joe hits a power bomb and flows into an STF. Kobashi almost gets the ropes but Joe in a crossface holds back his arm! Kobashi finally gets to the ropes. Kobashi eventually regains control and hits joe in the corner with a bunch of chops, leading to a huge pop. Kobashi then hits not one but two Half Nelson Suplexes! Joe kicks out of a couple of pins but then is met with a sleeper into a sleeper suplex! There might have been some more moves afterwards but eventually Kobashi gets pumped up and hits Joe with a crazy lariat for the win. Crowd goes nuts and chants ROH! Look at the self-importance. NINE references to the crowd in this. And, apparently, the match was SO great that the FIRST thing this guy had to say about it was something about THE FANS. Was the ECW audience even this absorbed into being ECW fans? Well, they *did* chant "ECW"... Okay, so the crowd was into Kobashi v. Joe, which apparently was the best match in ROH history. I fail to see the problem.
  21. I've listed a bunch of big ROH feuds they've had. In 2002-2003 they did have matches that existed just for people to clap at spots and all that, but they've evolved. The show drew because people wanted to see Punk kick Rave's ass in the cage match, since last time they met in Chicago, Rave blinded him and beat up his girlfriend. No, people want to see The Embassy get their asses kicked, and see Strong and Aries kick it. Isn't that wrestling? And no, no one would start a Four Horsemen chant. Again Rudo, you don't go to the shows. I agree the dueling chants are sometimes lame, and I hate people who cheer Cide, but you generalising a whole fanbase. ROH Fans don't suspend disbelief. They wouldn't do and chant the shit they do if they did.
  22. Yes they do. Watch Punk v. Rave in the steel cage match. Or some stuff from the Lethal/Joe v. Rotts feud, Punk v. Aries. ROH fans can suspend their disbelief. And people have been raving about feuds in ROH since 2003 since the Raven-Punk feud. I don't understand how can you rip on the fanbase when you've never been to a show. And at the ROH Board, after every show there's always a thread where people complain about the behaviour of the fans and it gets annoying. Why let other people affect your enjoyment of a show? I mean I go to ROH shows to slap the wrestler's hand, go crazy for Nigel, call Lacey a whore, see my friends and see some good wrestling. Most ROH fans go to the show just to have a good time and good wrestling. Not with some grand notion of how to put themselves over.
  23. ROH earned its rep on the good wrestling and used it to draw people in with feuds. Now all the matches are usually based on storyline and feuds. Take the Punk v. Rave feud, that helped them draw huge numbers in Chicago for the blowoff. And the main selling point of 12/3 looks to be the War Games. CM Punk wasn't a heel his last night in ROH, and fans do suspend beliefs. You should see the Embassy.
