I think we've had this discussion several times before, and the argument that usually pops up is "The Velvet Underground did everything the Doors were doing better." And I agree with that. The Doors are okay but will never be in my pantheon. "Lean Back" is pretty weak, though. Velvet Underground were a psychedelic band. Doors did psychedelic music (The End), pop (Helllo I Love You), the blues (Roadhouse Blues), jazz (Light My Fire), and some hard rock (Five To One), and did em all very well. They weren't one dimensional like the Underground.

All the big holidays are only a few months away. Shortest, I say this weekend, longest I say Thanksgiving.
