Whedon pulls out of Wonder Woman project
2GOLD replied to Atticus Chaos's topic in Television & Film
I HATE that. I DID get the movie, just some of the jokes fell flat. That "you just obviously didn't get the movie" when someone doesn't call it the greatest thing ever invented has always been the lamest excuse when there was nothing confusing about 'Serenity' that couldn't be understood. I get it, There was nothing confusing about the film or the series, except if you hadn't seen Firefly it didn't do a very good job of explaining who exactly Rev [or Shephard] was. And yes, I flipped in the spoiler tag for the people who still haven't seen it. 'Serenity' wasn't a bad movie, it just felt flat at the end and missed some steps here and there. It's a fine film and I would have gladly went to see a sequel, but they were Joss characters which I've never had a problem with since he actually gives a damn about his characters on film and TV. Other people's characters, not so much. And I am a HUGE Joss television fan, absolutely huge. As for the undead loser. He was a doctor, he was a brother, so he was doctor brother character. Course if there had been a sequel, he'd been killed or the lovely Jewel Staite would since they seemed happy. BIG no no, hopefully they hit a rough patch after the sex since killing Kaylee would be beyond tragic. I doubt he would have killed the Doc since he had to be the LEAST liked character in the series. So he'd have the Kennedy/Riley factor working for him to keep him safe and secure for all eternity. Kaylee...yeah, she'd be toast. And I didn't forget Toy Story, but it's not a bad movie so why in the world would it be added to the bad film pile? He did a treatment, that's writing involved with the film and the film was horrible so he gets one of the shots. Even taking away that one, his track record with characters not his own isn't good. -
True, but I was kinda looking forward to the thought of the Undertaker trying to fill 55 minutes while they scrambled to figure out who'd he face. If he had a guitar, it might be the greatest thing since the Rock LIVE concert.
-
The bookers probably won't make their decision on what they're going to do until 9:55pm. So he'll be in the ring for 55 minutes telling us the pros and cons of the opponents until some grip runs out and tells him? I might actually enjoy that. If he does it in the form of a poetry jam, I might be willing to see triple champion Undertaker.

They haven't invented a wagon that Jake Roberts can't fall off.

Whedon pulls out of Wonder Woman project

The Invisible Jet would be hilarious on the big screen. And a lasso that makes you tell the truth. I mean seriously, these are horrible. For a strong woman figure, she had some of the stupidest crap on the planet. I'm shocked DC Comics didn't give her the broom of justice. Wonder Woman would translate well in a Justice League movie as a supporting role character. Then you can enhance her positives while pretending the negatives that make her snicker worthy aren't there. -
Jesus vs The National Football League...I smell a Budweiser ad.

Whedon pulls out of Wonder Woman project

I learned a long time ago to get excited when he's writing for television and comics. I loved Buffy and Angel and Serenity for the couple of hours it managed to get on the air. But his films...christ, it is damn near impossible to sit through them when they aren't his characters. And even Serenity was a little flat (the doctor brother LIVES?!?! God damn you Joss). -

I'm sorry, but I am glad because I firmly believe Joss is one of the WORST film writers on the planet. The guy is a master when it's his characters on television, but he cannot write for the big screen at all. Wonder Woman would have been horrible for a number of reasons: He didn't like the character, he would have wanted to kill most of the cast making it really depressing, his little inside jokes tend to fall really flat on the big screen (not sure why though) and his ideas for casting rumors were already making my head hurt badly. Let Joss go work on Goners, comics and his Buffy/Angel TV movies and keep him away from projects he doesn't know an ounce about. Let WB destroy it so Joss doesn't get another stink burger on his writing resume to go along with Titan A.E, Alien Resurrection and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. -
Irvin may be one of the biggest self centered assholes in the league before the existance of T.O, but that guy should be in the Hall so I'm glad he's finally going. Last year it would have been hard after the little problems he had before voting so it's good they didn't hold it against him for long. The voters seem to be in the habit now of making people wait an extra year to vote them in. And has the book fully closed on Art Monk now? I still do not understand how a man the NFL had on their all decade team for the 80s at wide receivers (the ONLY one of the four NOT in the Hall since Rice is basically guaranteed the spot), and the man that Jerry Rice had to pass for the most career receptions is still not in.

I want the Bears to win cause I'm tired of the, "NFC is the JV conference" that sports reporters and announcers have been saying for a couple of years now. If they feel that way, why do they even bother caring who wins the NFC? The Bears have the type of defense that can beat the Colts: Bring the pressure, hit em hard when they catch it, and just punish them for even having the nerve to get on the field with you. That's what New England's defense WAS that owned the Colts. That's the defense the Steelers can play that took them down. And that is the only, I repeat, the ONLY defense in the NFL that can shut down Manning and the Colts. If they want to play, "we'll let Manning sit there with no added pressure and just try to cover the receivers", then this game is over and done. Get Manning to have happy feet (the entire first half of the AFC title game) and you can shut down the Colts offense. Shut down the Colts offense and wear out their defense and it's blowout city for the Bears. Or they can play Bronco defense and let Manning leave with a Super Bowl MVP plus records in yards in a game, touchdown passes in a game, completions in a game, attempts in a game and just every passing stat he can get his hands on.

Actually, the Texans seem hell bent on picking Jake Plummer at quarterback. So truthfully, they are already looking to downgrade at the position and pretend the offensive line is absolutely ok. How often do you find a team with the same quarterback starting now that was starting 8 years ago? Hell, five years ends up being a stretch in this league. If they could get 5-6 good years out of Carr, I'd say they made a unbelievable move.
-
But but the people at the party can't be racist! They have a black friend! They know black people! Classic racism defense: I know a black person so I can't be racist.

You know, I used to hate that Roger Clemens. It's amazing how much a new uniform can change your attitude about a guy. He's still a dick.

TV deaths that pissed you off or upset you

Eh, that's so un-Joss like. He'd much rather us be forced to watch them die and feel like shit so he could constantly remind us, "Life sucks, then you die. Fight all you want, you suck and you'll die horribly while someone cries over your worthless corpse". So other than that, yeah I totally agree with you Ripper. He should never be allowed to speak at a high school graduation. It'll be mass suicide hour. -
People who thought Friends sucked? Call me when the go full out naked and grind their bodies against each other while moaning. Then I might be mildly interested.

The only problem I see with Jeff in the ring now is his conditioning is shot. He gets winded like 30 seconds into a match. Hell sometimes he looks winded after his entrance. That was one of his problems in TNA, he would just wear out way too early for someone performing the moves he performs.
-
Yeah, the WWE loves giving 'over the top bumping former drug heads that women get their panties moist over' the title. Jeff has the best shot because he comes from the Shawn Michaels mold in every way. Except he has zero ability to cut a promo that makes sense. He's the Ultimate Warrior of the roster when it comes to that. Neither Hardy should ever get near the World Title. When Mattitude was huge on Smackdown and they were scrambling for anyone to be a champion, yeah that was the perfect time to build Matt but they dropped it onto the floor. Now, he's nothing more than the veteran guy the people will cheer for and watch lose every damn feud until they get bored and fire him. ETA: Added in former because I forgot it and Lushus reminded me.
-
Both. If the Colts fail, they can blame it all on Manning and claim it wasn't their faults the picks were wrong. If he wins, he's a god among men because he overcame the pressure of a powerhouse Bears defense and march his Colts singlehanded to a Super Bowl trophy. The media is desperately looking for a way to be right no matter who wins the game.

The administration is probably already drafting a plan to invade the Moon and stop these terrorist Moonites. But the US Army is clearly not ready for the awesome power of the QuadLaser!
-
Barry's agent has obviously been using too much crack.
-
Over the top hilarity. I felt like they should just have one side of the ring with a trampoline to do even higher, crazier moves. If you are going to go this far over the top, you might as well go the rest of the way. Course Six-Pac wasn't an original member of DX or the NWO. Unless he was actually Hollywood Hogan and Chyna in disguise.

That was a really pathetic death too. She went through various battles with the God of War only to go down like that. That was lame man, really lame. -
How long are the contracts of RVD and Punk? And is there any way to make them shorter for the mercy of both guys?
-
Whenever I hear Progressive, I think auto insurance. Not a politician. Course I never really liked or cared about the words liberal and conservative so it's obviously not aimed at me.

Until he stops flinching at fastballs (which he did a LOT with the O's), he's not going to be able to hit a thing. The guy is afraid of them ever since he took two to the side of his head. He was just complete CRAP after the second one and he has continued a nice steady decline. I wish him luck but I don't think he can fix something like that. Unless he wants to ask a pitcher to hit him in the head again so he can jar his brain. That might work. Or kill him. One of the two.
