I only remember the forum being closed to guest reading for a couple months in '04, otherwise guests have been able to read the board (excluding LSD) I read the board as a guest for about six months before I finally registered

atomsk did a good job summing it up, but I'll add my own thoughts Perhaps I had "high" expectations due to the fact that Dames was always a down-in-the-trenches owner, talking with us like a fellow normal poster. By contrast, admin (what the hell kind of username is that anyway) never talks except to occasionally post his little robotic updates of the forum... though, truth be told, when I did see him try to converse like a normal person, the results did nothing but clarify why he likely keeps to himself in the first place. To sum it up, the guy appears both distant and out of it and talks like a bot. Other traits that don't help include having an AIM name with alternating caps and lowercase letters like some script kid, and posting enough spelling and grammar mistakes to make CWM look like Edwin.
