  1. I wouldn't say the Oilers got nothing. Woywitka was a very highly regarded prospect, just slightly below Pitkanen in the eyes of most in the Flyers organization. The draft picks are meaningless.
  2. I said it before in another thread, but Holly/Lesnar would just be stupid. If they put on that match in Philly, it is going to result in a face turn for Brock. I don't see why they would put Brock in a position to get cheered.
  3. I love when announcer's have to stretch for drama. Why would Michaels even bring up doing anything but kicking the field goal there? The Eagles have the most accurate kicker ever (fuck you Mike "I kick in a dome" Vanderjagt) and it would put the game at two scores. That is why you have an Akers, to kick with swirling winds from 42 yards.
  4. God damn L.J. Smith is trying to give me a heart attack. Not exactly his game of the year.
  5. I just picked up the James Historical Abstract last week. That damn thing is going to tide me over for a good few months. I did enjoy seeing John Kruk as the 73rd best 1B ever.
  6. But he was known for getting clutch hits. :runs from al: He does seem to be a decent recruiter though. Helping talk to Thome and Worrell.
  7. There is a part of me, probably the Philly fan syndrome, that is glad they signed Roberto Hernandez. The offseason was going too well and if they went into the season with all of that good karma I would be concerned something would happen during the season. Look at last year. Signed Millwood, Bell, and Thome. Nothing bad that I can recall. Millwood underachieves, Bell is a cripple, Burrell god only knows what happened.
  8. ESPN.com is saying it is 72 mil. 12 mil signing bonus 3 mil in 2004 9 2005 10 2006 12 2007 13 2008 13 2009
  9. Unless Boo Williams puts up 40 points, I am moving on to the conference championship round. Thank god for Brett Favre and his 40 point day.
  10. 5 day prediction for LOTR 175 mil. Seems like a disappointing number for Stuck on You. Of course, seems like a down week in general. Good to see Elf still hanging around.
  11. Peyton Manning now 25/30, 290, 5TDs Damn, he really wants that MVP.
  12. I wonder if the Tigers realize in this market, you can build a pretty good core of a team for 15 mil a year. I understand they want a star to make it look like they care, but this is just silly and you know in two years Tejada will be a malcontent due to the losing and they won't be able to dump him. On the Tejada side, if that offer is legit, he better take that god damn deal. Talk about playing for a winner all you want but 80 mil is 80 mil.
  13. The decision on McNair wasn't made until 10 minutes before kickoff. So given McNair's history of playing through injury, it is hard to fault him for keeping him in the lineup.
  14. Eh, the most interesting thing going on this weekend was something Ed Werder mentioned on Countdown. He talked to a Rams player, who is friends with a Dolphin. He said he called the Dolphin asking if they would be helping them out by beating the Eagles. The Dolphin replied that he should get his cold weather stuff packed up. Good to see the Dolphins quitting in December as usual.
  15. Would you have predicted the Marlins beating the Yankees? All you have to worry about is getting into the postseason. After that, while I don't subscribe to the Billy Beane crapshoot theory, everyone has a chance to take down anyone.
  16. zzzzzzzzzzzz Oh, I'm sorry. Is that your arguement. First label people who don't think White should win Oklahoma-haters and then condescendingly ignore their arguements why White might not/shouldn't (depending on who is giving the view) win the award. Good show.
  17. Good to see you completely ignored where I showed you Perry and Fitzgerald only had 1 bad game....count them 1. Like I said, I don't care that White won. Any of the players winning would be fine with me. But White was not head and shoulders above the field like you seem to think.
  18. You didn't say the others weren't good. You said they had several bad games which is an out and out lie. I am not going to let you get away with crap like that when you have been whining like a girl with a skinned knee for the last two weeks. I don't mind Jason White winning the trophy. I think all of them were deserving and undeserving, so I don't really care. But to base your arguement in falsehood and to not acknowledge the impact of votes occuring before the worst game of one candidate's season is just stupid.
  19. I am going to ditto Spiff's sentiments here. A big problem could occur if they dared put Brock/Holly in the title match in Philly. You could get another Rock/Brock Summerslam scenario. I don't think they need any crowds cheering Brock right now and I would be willing to put money down on that happening if it is Brock/Holly. So for completely unselfish reasons Brock/Benoit should be at the Rumble. For the good of the company.
  20. I would have liked to seen the vote if 350 ballots hadn't been turned in before the Big 12 championship game.
  21. The others had several bad games? Let's see here: Larry Fitzgerald Worst game: 3 catches, 26 yards, 1TD Next worst: 5 catches, 72 yards, 2TDs So his second worst game he still scored two TDs. He got penalized, because he had his worst game in the biggest game of the year. Hmm, that sounds awfully familiar. But he isn't from Oklahoma so that is why I am saying he only had the one bad game. Chris Perry: Worst game: 11 carries, 26 yards Next worst: 24 carries, 87 yds, 1 TD He did have one worse rushing game, but in that game he only threw in 11 catches for 122 yards and a TD. Not too shabby there for having several bad games. Oooh, I said Perry is good, I must be White-hating. Eli Manning Had three games where he threw as many or more INTs as TDs. vs. Florida 0-1 vs. Arkansas 1-1 vs. LSU 1-1 White had three as well vs. UCLA 2-2 vs. OSU 0-2 vs. KSU 0-2 If Manning has any semblence of a D (meaning about 1/5 of what White has), that doesn't give up 44 to Memphis and 49 to Texas Tech. They are at one loss, Manning is god, and they are in the title hunt.
  22. I am enjoying going to a couple of Braves boards and seeing all of the people optimistic with "If Drew stays healthy....." comments. Has he shown any reason to believe he is going to play more than 125-130 games in a season if even that? I don't know how the trade looks for the Braves. Marquis and King are negligible, but I have read things anywhere from Wainright is a Gavin Floyd level prospect to it is 50/50 if he makes a real impact in the league. Maybe a Braves fan could help with that, but if he really is that good of a prospect the trade seems absurd. Why give that up when Jose Guillen, Reggie Sanders and Jose Cruz are on the market and wouldn't cost you a top prospect?
  23. There was a way to get Lara Croft nekkid in Tomb Raider 2.
  24. It really can only be happenstance. It just worked out that all of the western teams have drafted better, managed better, owned better, and built better. It isn't like the West has dominant markets that FAs flock to other than LA. And if NY wasn't a joke FAs would flock there just the same. Otherwise Portland, Dallas, Minnesota, Houston, and Sacramento? These markets aren't enough to lure people. So it is just luck right now that everything is going on in the West. Nothing inherent in the western conference itself.
  25. I will agree that it was pretty shitty, considering the offers have been on the table for a while, to sit there twiddling his thumbs. It isn't like there were other bidders he was hoping to get or hoping he could play them off each other. These deals have been on the table for a while. So he should have made up his mind sooner.
