Yeah, Artis Hicks and Jon Runyan certainly did not have their best games as Coleman and Kearney did whatever they wanted. And that makes it even more important that he is willing to run. Look at how much the Eagles held back on their pass rush, because they had to contain Vick. The Falcons were teeing off on McNabb because there was no threat of McNabb taking off. (They were also teeing off since there was no running game since the line couldn't run block for shit, but that is another point.) In defense of the O-Line though, like I said above, when the defense knows a pass is coming and knows that they don't have to contain they can just let loose which has to be hard on an offensive lineman. If you give Patrick Kearney and Rod Coleman free reign all game, they will make a lot of linemen look bad. And it is even deeper that just running. They don't even use bootlegs and rollouts to get him out of the pocket. The only time he leaves the pocket is if he is forced, nothing planned. That is just plain stupid.

It isn't an all of a sudden thing with McNabb. Look at his running numbers from last year (40ish carries, 200 and change yards) and you will see he just doesn't use the running option anymore. He is desperately trying to prove to anyone and everyone that he is not the stereotypical quarterback who is dubbed "athletic" because he is black. He wants to be Peyton Manning. What he either doesn't realize or completely ignores, is that with one decent run a game he will get the opposing secondaries hesitating, which will open up the passing game and let him be a great passer. Apparently there is no middle ground to him between "running QB" and "pocket passer". What they need to do is strap him to a chair and make him watch Steve Young gamefilm.

I am glad that the Falcons TE's were able to embarass Jevon Kearse all night long. The announcers could talk about how he had to contain all they want (clog both inside and out), but the fact remains the TE's were able to control where he went so it was a moot point. McNabb played like garbage. He played like the McNabb v.2001 with the happy feet, except back then the happy feet moved forward instead of doing a tap dance. And the screen "fumble" was the worst thing I had ever seen. Just because Kearney got a chip on Westbrook, doesn't mean he is going to continue running 10 yards backwards. Falcons did a great job of getting pressure on McNabb and pretty much wanted the game from the opening kickoff as opposed to the Eagles who didn't realize they were playing a real game until the 20 minute mark. And where the fuck was Ryan Moats?!? He has been impressive during the preseason and the offense desperately needed some kind of boost.

I don't think there is really any difference between Parry and Ritchie at this point. Parry played decent during the preseason and with Ritchie's age and injury issues you can see why they leaned towards Parry. It isn't the Ritchie of two years ago playing anymore. The cut I question is Steve Scuillo. He gets overlooked for some reason, but I thought he played well when Mayberry went down last year. The whole preseason all you heard was "they like (Darilek, Armstrong, Jackson, etc., etc.)", but give me the player who proved he can play during games last year (plus he is still young and cheap, so those things don't even work against him).
-
I don't know about last year, not seeing them that much, but from what I saw today I don't see how you can blame the play calling. The offense flat out sucks and Thompson can't throw the deep ball. If you can't stretch the field vertically, you are going to have a very vanilla, short game offense.

It's an upgrade. Simon is still a good DT. I do question, though, if a line with Mathis, Freeney and Simon would be too much upfield pass rush and not enough run support. The article mentions that he is solid against the run, but they must have missed the games last season before Trotter was inserted into the lineup. Also, even though I don't see the numbers in the article, I would still be willing to bet they overpaid for him (if a double digit guarantee pops up, they overpaid for Corey Simon). I do have to wonder about the conditioning issue. Last season he came in from his holdout completely out of shape in his contract year. Makes you wonder what he will do once he has the new contract.

How's everyone done so far

Do you have to keep two players? Do you forfeit anything to have a keeper? Using my league as an example, if we have a keeper he is our 6th round pick, if you don't keep anyone you get a 6th round pick. If you do have to forfeit something, I wouldn't keep either player. If you don't, I would keep Jackson. I despise Bulger and think you could get a better QB in the 10th round. One keeper, who should it be: Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin? I am leaning towards Boldin as he has proven a bit more and I like his QB more (not saying much as Warner doesn't impress me, but still a point in his favor) -
It is $80 mil globally, btw. I doubt that includes DVDs.
-
According to the latest EW, the Fall movie preview, the movie needs to do $80 million to get sequal consideration.
-
If that happened I would fly to Oakland and kiss Al Davis right on the lips. But that has been a "rumored" deal for about 7 months now and I don't see that really happening. If they got a 4th round pick for him I would be shocked.
-
My feelings exactly. I would rather just lose him and go from there as opposed to this garbage. I don't want to have to cheer for him in any regard at this point.
-
On NFL Live they are saying that TO had been missing autograph sessions (which are apparently required) and some players went to Reid asking why he got special treatment. It was addressed during a meeting and TO felt he was "disrespected" and left/was suspended.
-
I am kind of pissed if they suspended him as opposed to leaving, because if he left they could have ended his career. At this point he will, IMO, be Keyshawned as opposed to Rickyed.
-
If he leaves, bring in Peter Warrick and I could live with Warrick/Lewis/Brown. And I do believe if TO leaves camp that brings the nulcear option back into play which you better believe I am using if I am in the Eagles FO. I will never understand how he thinks this is going to help his value around the league. If the Eagles cut him tomorrow, who would sign TO to a deal that is not structured like the current Eagles one where they plan for the inevitible TO breakdown. The worst part about this ordeal is he is proving Skip freaking Bayless to be absolutely right about everything he has ever said about him.

Also, there was not a NASCAR race, there was a "NASCAR racer" in the movie. Yes, there is a difference for anyone who actually paid attention, like a reviewer should be expected to do.

I got a kick out of reading that review. I swear Jessica Simpson must have stabbed him at some point. I know people have made comments about her not being bright, but to use two paragraphs of a movie review column to make fun of her (not her acting, not her character, but her personally) is just sad. The movie wasn't bad, but not exactly something you will watch over. The problem was that this really didn't feel like the Dukes of Hazzard other than the General Lee and the duke name attached. The cousins resembled Bud and Doyle from Bio-Dome more than they resembled Bo and Luke Duke. They weren't the lovable, good ol' boys, they became a couple of idiots just talking with a southern twang. Plus the mood was a lot darker in general, Rosco is portrayed as a rough, corrupt sheriff as opposed to an oaf, Boss Hogg again is made into a standard villian as opposed to having the bit of charm the character from the show had. It has some cool car scenes (obviously) and the one scene that was taken straight from Super Troopers got the biggest reaction from the audience. But other than that it was just standard buddy picture v.2.0. Bonus funny moment: being seated a few seats away from some 13 year old boys. Everytime Jessica Simpson came on screen they shifted in their seats and started to whisper to each other.

Actually, on ESPNs website they said JR was sent with a 3rd rounder to LA. The Kings probably wanted a little extra juice for taking the salary.

Goaltending is the least of the Flyers worries, IMO. If they had named Esche the starter from day one last season (can we still use the term last season?) he would have been in the hunt to be a Vezina finalist and Niitymaki, if he isn't an elite goaltending prospect, is in a class right below it. The problem I see the Flyers having is that sooooo much of their talent is at the center position. They have Forsberg, Carter, Handzus, Richards, and Primeau at center. When you see what they have on the wings it is not as impressive. Either players are going to have to move to the wings or they are going to have to bring in new players. Either way I worry about any transitions they might have there.
-
Because in my post I clearly state I don't call it/don't think it should be called the body triangle. If you don't see by this point that "The correct term is actually body triangle." is a much better response than "what the fuck is the figure four of death? you mean the body triangle spinelock?" then there really isn't much purpose in this discussion. Give the history lesson behind the name of the move, hell that is the whole purpose of discussion for newer fans, to learn more. There is just no need to be a prick about it, which was my point.
-
Am I the only one curious to see the consequences of baseball letting the information be leaked? If I am a player, the next time they come around with a test they get a nice "fuck you" from me, since their confidentiality agreement is apparently garbage.
-
Except he wasn't calling the move whatever he wanted. Frank Mir during the Salaverry/Fryklund fight: "he has his waist figure foured." If I am a fan seeing that move for the first time, with the commentator saying it is a figure four am I going to say to myself "Gee, that shape looks more like a triangle where the gap is. Therefore I shall call it a body triangle." or "wow, awesome figure four there for the finish" If the move was being called the oobeldy goobeldy body lock then yeah, go ahead and say it is a body triangle dipshit. But there is no need to get snippity about a simple correction that could have been made, if it was even necessary. This is what I was getting at a little earlier. It can be intimidating to someone just getting into MMA, which will be more often now, and seeing a "wrong" move name being met with an unnecessary response. Who would want to go into that just seeing their first event or two?

CC, I was saying you had already said it, so I did not need to reiterate it. I think I threw in an extra comma making it look wrong. My bad.
