Nomar re-signs with the Cubs A one year deal. Not bad.

I'd have to throw Troy up here. I had such high hopes for that movie, but when they started butchering the whole story, my faith was lost. I'd also say Alexander, but I haven't seen it yet. From the sounds of it, it looks to be incredibly disappointing.

Guerreros sounds fine to me.

Blame it on the conferences. They want more money from the holding of a conference championship game, so it's unfortunately the risk they have to take to get more $$$.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

I believe the Yeti's debut was on the Monday Nitro before that, as I remember them bringing out a giant block of ice that melted right as the show was going on. It led up to the main event where the Yeti was charging the ring while wrapped in toilet paper. That was one of my favourite Nitro moments of all-time. I was even lucky enough to be able to attend Halloween Havoc that year, and get to see the Yeti help the Giant lock some weird double bear hug on Hogan. -
I think moving the teams would be cool. I don't pay much attention to either of those teams anyway. And Mexico City's just fine. "C'est Bon" definitely approves of Ciudad de Mexico! Any clue as to what the nickname would be?

Yeah. I am banking on Brees going to an actual decent team in the offseason. Besides, the Bears D, Antonio Gates, and him saved my fantasy season, so I want to keep that trio together. Besides, I begin this year with Josh McCown as my only QB. No matter how bad Brees might do next year, he'll be a step up from that.

Ah well. I think I'll just make it simple then. Keepers: Drew Brees QB Kevin Jones RB WR Randy Moss WR Torry Holt TE Antonio Gates Chicago Defense

I am still shocked anyone picked Rice. Louisiana Tech at least seems decent for a mid-major. Rice just looks abysmal.
-
Also, I had Phillip Rivers in Week 1, so if I was to re-acquire him, then could I keep him for next year? Just curious... And, oh yeah, Onterrio Smith is on the trading block, though I can't see getting many offers for him.

Has anyone ever tried taking Baylor and trying to make them a prominent team? I have considered it, but I am not sure I have the patience to try to turn around such a bad team in such a tough conference. In NCAA 2004, I believe they are actually worse than a few division I-AA teams that I could bring up. C-USA isn't much better. I don't face Louisville in my UAB dynasty, but I do have to get bogged down facing crappy teams like Army, Houston, Tulane, Memphis(who strangely suck in this game), and Southern Miss(who has basically been lost in the shuffle.) Cincinnati is supposed to be decent(a , but I squashed them in my last outing, TCU is not hard, just REALLY boring, and South Florida is average as best. Ah well. At least I have my non-conference schedule to keep things interesting.

I do and I don't myself. I spend a decent amount of time scouting my opponent in college basketball games. I usually try to see who their best shooters are, then make sure that I have my double teams on them. Or I wait until the game happens, see who they usually favour giving the ball to, then set my guys to double team them. Of course, sometimes I have done the opposite where I let him get his points, while covering the rest of the team, which leads to such hilarity as their best player getting the "Player of the Game" award, despite my team blowing his team out by 40. I also try to know the team's tendencies in football when I play it. If I know I have zero to worry about from their rushing attack, then I focus on their pass and vice versa. I also know some team's weaknesses from playing with them so much, like Miami being INCREDIBLY susceptible to sacks. If I get my DE's timing down just right, I can get 5-12 sacks with that one player on the second hardest level against Miami, depending how good of a player that I am using. I probably should scout a bit better though, as the computer usually has a few time wasting tricks that I'd love to learn how to stifle, but after facing them enough, I usually get the idea pretty quickly.

Well, look on the bright side: the Liberty Bowl is looking to be the only game besides the National Championship that features two teams from the BCS Top Ten. That is just SUCH a ringing endorsement for the BCS, no? And, oh yeah, the crappy Big East team getting a bid could be good for BCS in regards to mid-majors. What I mean is that if Utah wins, they can just say that they beat a crappy team that they were expected to beat anyway and they would likely not be able to stand up to the REAL teams of BCS. By contrast, if they lose, then they are obviously inferior to a terrible Big East team. OF course, it makes them look bad in other way, but at least it has a bit of a possible silver lining.
-
Quick question: How exactly did Oregon beat Georgia? It seems like Oregon missed 2, lost one, and got 3 right, and Georgia had won the tiebreak. I am just curious...
-
I especially feel bad for Louisville, as they will be in the Big East next year and would have probably have easily won the bid had they been in the Big East. Boston College probably screwed themselves by moving as they will be middle of the pack in ACC, while they would likely have been one of the strongest teams year in and year out in a weakened Big East.
-
I forgot the ACC too, for a bit. I blame it on the fact that both teams still in the race were from the Big East last season. And it looks like UTEP just choked up their game against Tulsa. They had the ball 1st down and 10 at the Tulsa 25, only to lose 14 yards, and are now faced with a 4th and 24 at the Tulsa 39. Barring a miracle, I am guessing they lose the game. And they went for a 56 yard field goal?!? What were they smoking?
-
Nope. You'd also have to put the ACC Champion: either Miami or Virginia Tech in there somewhere.
-
Let's say that, by some strange fluke, both Auburn and Oklahoma both blow their conference championship games, then who'd go to the National Championship game, and who'd be screwed out of a BCS Bowl? Just curious.
-
Monday?!? Who thought scheduling that game on a Monday would be a good idea? I figure it would have to do with TV time, but, really, if they'regoing to have two WAC teams on Monday, they should at least have had Boise St, Hawaii, Fresno St., or UTEP, or something. Anyway, I feel redeemed with my victory this week. After being much-maligned for being 2-5 and still ranked, it feels good to be 7-6, ranked, bowl-eligible, in the Pac 8 Championship game, and have a 5 game winning streak. I hope I can keep it up next week in what will prove to be a tough rematch with UCLA.
-
It looks like Maryland just beat Wake Forest 13-7 in what had to be one of the WORST games I have ever followed.
-
Woohoo! I have been hoping to get another chance at UCLA since my first game vs UCLA was easily my worst game of this competition. (I lost 13-9.) Now, if either Viriginia Tech or Maryland holds on to win today, I'll be really happy.

I believe it's a tribe of people from Laos, if I remember correctly.

Well, I was flipping through the channels today, and I happened upon a fascinating documentary on A & E about competitive eating. Apparently, these guys travel around the world entering eating contests. They have even formed an International Federation of Competitive Eating who compiles rankings for all the various professional eaters, led by that Japanese guy who broke the hot dog eating world record a few years ago. Anyway, they were calling it a sport, so I have to ask: competitive eating: sport or not? I am thinking not, but considering how liberally the word "sport" is used these days, I could see it fitting into such a loose definition. I am just still amazed that there are people out there who make a job out of travelling around, entering eating contests.
