  1. Apparently the Yankees are about to get Jarrod Washburn.
  2. Thanks for my picks, al. Here is the Gothams roster, retroactively edited, to include my last 2 selections. Starting Line-up: 2B Willie Randolph LF Lou Piniella RF Roger Maris CF Bernie Williams C Jorge Posada 1B Wally Pipp DH Hank Bauer 3B Clete Boyer SS Tom Tresh Bench: Ron Blomberg, Roberto Kelly, Shane Spencer, Rick Cerone Rotation: Whitey Ford Orlando Hernandez Ron Guidry Waite Hoyt Jack Chesbro Bullpen: Dave Righetti Jeff Nelson Bob Wickman Manager – Joe Torre
  3. Staches don't apply to the facial hair rule. "Hi"
  4. Giambi plays 1B pretty much every day.
  5. I'll take: Lou Piniella and Hank Bauer
  6. Heads up, new episode on USA in 10 minutes.
  7. Hideo Nomo retired. So the Yankees probably won't be signing him.
  8. The scrap heap continues to pile up. Morgan Ensberg (who was mercifully DFA'd after being the starting 3B during A-Rod's DL stint), Jason Lane (spent the entire season at AAA so far), Sidney Ponson Round II (who's been good in 2 of 3 starts), and now Eric Milton and Richie Sexson. While I'm at it, LaTroy Hawkins and Chad Moeller are wastes of roster spots. Sexson has potential because he's hitting lefties and the Yankees haven't been. Maybe they get lucky. It's not costing them anything, so they have that going for them.
  9. Yes he was. The 2 I didn't have Tommy John or Baker. And with your selection of Roy White, there goes # 5 out of 7. I really wish I hadn't taken Torre last round.
  10. 15 out of 20. Good thing I was born here. Some of those are pretty tough.
  11. One man's trash is another man's treasure (fingers crossed)
  12. Wow...4 of those 6 picks were on my board for the next round.
  13. Seconded. I watched it start-to-finish.
  14. I guess I'm going to have to make up a list of players I want and PM them to one of you guys, because I'm going away on Saturday and won't be back til next Saturday. Anway, the Gothams select: Waite Hoyt and Joe Torre I really didn't want a manager yet, but the run for the top ones started a lot earlier than I thought it would.
  15. I usually just ignore the petty stuff that Czech routinely bitches about, but I agree with him on this one.
  16. I knew AJax was the highest position player prospect in the system, but I wasn't aware that he was this highly touted. Anyway, I am syched for the HRD and the ASG. I haven't watched either one since 2003.
  17. The Gothams select: Dave Righetti Willie Randolph
  18. Nice choice on Mussina. I was hoping he'd last longer. Ditto on Winfield, I wanted either him or Maris with my last selection.
  19. The Gothams select: Roger Maris Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez
  20. 1) Homer's Enemy - Finally, last week, Frank Grimes, the man who had to work for everything he ever got, earned his degree in nuclear physics by mail...with a minor in determination. 2) 22 Short Films About Springfield - The awesome Pulp Fiction parody episode following around several of the Springfield townspeople, including the really tall guy in the tiny little car that Nelson "haw-haw"s at. 3) Krusty's Klown Kollege - Homer and Krusty have to perform the "loopty loop" trick on the mini bike for the mafia don. A ton of classic scenes in this episode. 4) Homer's Phobia - Homer becomes friends with a gay man until he learns about his sexuality. Barney: "Is it ok to come yet, Mr. Gay Man, sir?" Moe: "I'll do anything you want. Anything!" 5) Homer at the Bat - Already covered, classic. "5 misfortunes? Possible. 7 misfortunes? Maybe. But 9 misfortunes? Impossible!" 6) Lisa the Vegetarian - Such an awesome episode, but especially because I constantly reference lines from it to my own vegetarian sister. 7) Christmas themed tie: Bart steals Bonestorm / Bart burns down the Christmas tree - My favorite time of year + my favorite show = my favorite holiday themed TV episodes of all time. I left off "You Only Move Twice," another one of my all time favorites, since it's been mentioned so many times already. I'll also give an honorable mention to "Who Shot Mr. Burns, Part 1+2." Seasons 6, 7 and 8 are, in my opinion, the absolute best of the series.
  21. YES postgame show says Bobby Murcer passed away today at 62. No links online yet.
  22. Ron Guidry Jorge Posada
