  1. Honestly, I think they wanted to put the title on Benoit. Since he missed the show, Nitro is a transitional champion. I wouldn't be surprised to see Benoit win the title within two weeks.
  2. While I think the Mets have worse luck, not having any no-hitters yet, the Jays have had something like 9 no-hit bids broken up in the 9th. Seems pretty high for a 30 year history. Didn't Halladay almost get a no hitter in his MLB Debut? Second start. Bobby Higginson hit a home run with two outs. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TO...199809270.shtml Time of Game: 1:45. Wow.
  3. I think Nitro getting the belt is just a hotshot. Benoit wins the belt Tuesday.
  4. Definately underrated. Not mentioned as a great announcer but I've always liked his work when I've heard it.
  5. I guarantee nobody in power in WWE has any clue Dusty blew by there in 2000. They bothered to put an ECW match on Dusty's dvd, so someone noticed.
  6. The Garcia trade was a win for the Sox because Garcia's likely out until his contract expires. Gio Gonzalez is the real prize of that deal and he's pitching well in AA.
  7. Like I said at another board, these people are not so much genuinely concerned stockholders as much as they are being obstructionists because they don't like a wrestling angle. They need to grow up.
  8. If you watched the Dusty Rhodes dvd, the Rhodes vs. Dibiase/Virgil match is from that card.
  9. Not the best outing as Clippard walked five in five innings, striking out two. Both starters really had trouble throwing strikes out there.
  10. You don't need a hard rule. The real problem is that Pittsburgh got the All-Star game primarily to boost season ticket sales. That shouldn't happen.
  11. Aaron Rowand's a free agent this year and I imagine Yankee fans would like the guy who made a great showing in that White Sox series a few years ago. Of course he's having a big year so he might score a Gary Matthews contract. Thank god the Phillies can slide Shane Victorino over and avoid overpaying him. As for Maroth, really his stuff is fringe so I'm not sure he's a tremendous upgrade for the Cardinals. While Igawa starts for the Yankees, I'll see Tyler Clippard's return to Scranton. I saw Igawa's first AAA start and to say he pitched well is a reach. It took him about 100 pitches to get through five innings and he worked deep counts to too many hitters. They're playing Syracuse, staring SAL FASANO!!
  12. I only advocate ending the rule along with cutting back the roster. 16 teams with a 25 man roster just isn't feasible. If the rosters are at 25, then I see no problem maintaining the rule. I would only hope they give it to the best player and not just a middle reliever. I agree with the starters' rule. Agreed. St. Louis hasn't hosted the game since '66, which boggles me.
  13. What about the AWA. Isn't Jerry Lawler eligible for the match?
  14. And like Ripken, Tejada posts his lowest OPS's in September. Consecutive game streaks are not worth the physical exertion.
  15. Next week.
  16. Mine just indicated she wants to join the Army. Does that count?
  17. Try-outs. They had two dark matches featuring Chris Benoit around the same time.
  18. Public Enemy's last ECW match was the appropriately named House Party '96 in January. Oddly, they won their sendoff.
  19. Does anyone have Sabu's WWE theme? Thanks in advance.
  20. I'd rather they just alternated like they used to. It was never a problem until they needed to deflect criticism of the 2002 tie game.
  21. With fire behind him. Perhaps caused by a burning limo? *cues music*
  22. Fuck it, this company is brilliant. Seriously.
  23. Eventually. First he must clear waivers. Any team that wants to keep him under the same conditions the Yankees had (must stay on the 25 man roster all year) may do so. If he passes waivers, then the Baltimore Orioles may take him back for a minimal sum, I believe $25,000. Phelps isn't a prospect so it is quite possible that the O's may just pass. I should add, since the Yankees DFA'd Phelps, they have the option of trading him instead of placing him on waivers.
  24. Remembering now something I wanted to add in regards to #1. Every year I hear about a player that he SHOULD make the All-Star team, the idea being that he's performed so well that they need to find a place for him. No. If you're one of the top two players at your position, you deserve to go. If not, try again next year. Kevin Youkilis is having a nice season, but he's third in OPS among first basemen behind Casey Kotchman and Mark Teixeira, and Justin Morneau is close behind coming off an MVP season. Just having a good season doesn't make you an All-Star. You have to beat your competition.
