  1. Are team names on the jerseys usually that inconspicuous?
  2. Just 14 games into the season, All-Star ballots are online at MLB.com. You'd think with the internet age, they could shorten the voting period.
  3. Hardly. Padilla gave the Phillies two very good years, and Omar Daal added another fine season.
  4. Naming Jim Bowden the GM isn't sabotaging the team?
  5. Nah, that's December 21st, 2012. I remember seeing a special on it where waffleirons attacked people on that day Is it sad that I remember seeing that as well? I barely even watch those shows.
  6. The Yankees traditionally perform poorly after they win 19-8 games.
  7. Did I? I'm having a bitch of a time accessing my e-mail, and I flipped over to the Yankee game after the 6th.
  8. So Derek Jeter gives up a run scoring error. He also lets three hits bounce to his left, hits that a "gold glove" infielder might have gotten to. But of course, I doubt he'll be blamed for this loss.
  9. It could've been worse. There's a special club for people who sat through 60 minutes of Douglas/Blanchard without falling asleep.
  10. Why was he nonexistent in the FA market last year? He has good stuff, and hes a lefty. The only reason I had was because of his horrible post season. Lack of dominating stuff or gaudy win/loss records, coupled with his poor postseason.
  11. Another interesting tidbit. Odalis Perez is 3-0. He won 7 games in total last year (due to bad, bad run support).
  12. Playing Devil's advocate here. I would think that there are other factors involved, such as overweight people being less likely to participate in at-risk activities. There are other factors involved. I do think the obesity epidemic is overstated. But I would like to see continued steps towards gettings Americans to eat better.
  13. And just to give an idea of Greinke's talent, the only pitcher post-1900 to post a better K:BB ratio as a 20 year old was Doc Gooden.
  14. Hell will freeze over before Kansas City trades Zach Greinke.
  15. Umm, I started this yesterday.
  16. And it will still be located 1 channel down from America Right. I've had those stations since I've gotten my XM Radio. I listened to America Left for a few minutes before I could not take it anymore. I'm sick of the conservative news channels, but they are every bit as bad, except on the other side. I just wish someone would put out a good show with intelligent hosts instead of the conservative and liberal loudmouths that infest the airwaves.
  17. Oh yeah, fun stat of the day. The last time the Yankees won a game 19-8, they lost their next four in a row.
  18. Fluke start is in he is doing worse than expected, or better? Better. He has the second highest OPS on the Marlins, and a very Un-Encarnacion-like .362 OBP. That's also before tonight when he had a pair of RBI hits. He's been hitting in the 5 spot for the past two games, and actually producing there. It's remarkable. It's way too early to draw any conclusions. Right now he's hitting .256 (11 for 43). If he was 10 for 43, that would be a .233 batting average. He's reached base 18 times in 50 plate appearances, for a .360 OBP. If he failed to reach base two more times (once a week), his OBP would be back down to .320. So honestly, I do not know.
  19. He's actually only responsible for Floyd. Wolf started out by giving up three singles, one of which scored a run, before Manuel brought in Worrell.
  20. The sad thing is that if he gets Mientkiewicz here, he will collect a save for this effort.
  21. Fluke start is in he is doing worse than expected, or better?
  22. Once again Yankee futility continues, as the Yankees tie the record for most outs in an inning, with three.
  23. I figured I'd just throw some random lists around, even though it's early. Take these with a grain of salt. Top Ten Starting Rotations, as measured by Starters' ERA 1. Florida 2. Toronto 3. Chicago White Sox 4. Houston 5. Atlanta 6. New York Mets 7. Philadelphia 8. Los Angeles Dodgers 9. Milwaukee 10. Oakland It is something to see how much breaking up the Big Three has really hurt the Athletics' pitching staff. Top Ten Bullpens, by Reliever ERA 1. Milwaukee 2. Cleveland 3. Minnesota 4. Florida 5. Houston 6. Oakland 7. Seattle 8. San Diego 9. Los Angeles Angels 10. Chicago Cubs
  24. Roger Clemens vs. Tim Hudson tonight in Houston. ESPN has Chicago/Cincinnati at 7pm (right now in fact).
  25. That is an accurate assessment really. The Orioles will struggle at times due to their pitching, but they can easily finish at .500. We will have to wait and see on the Yankees, but right now I think 90 wins, and yes, they might not make the playoffs with that total.
