Dallas Green. This team was quite possibly the reason pitch counts gained prominance over the last few years. They were completely destroyed by overuse.
Here's all you need to write for the Mets:
ARE THEY FUCKING STUPID?
If Anglesault was a Mets fan, he'd be dead of a self-afflicted gunshot wound already.
Baseball Primer beat me to it.
I'm working on that now. Basically I'm covering all the teams that made trades, from their angle. For example, I do the Mets as a whole, rather than each trade on its own. I might write briefly on the teams that stayed put, time permitting. This column could be huge in size as it is.
Benson has given up seven earned runs in his first Mets start. Good thing the Mets gutted their farm system for him. Who knows how many runs Matt Ginter or Jae Seo would've given up.
Horrible, horrible trade for the Red Sox. Orlando Cabrera stinks at the plate this season. Mientkiewicz is slugging an abysmal .363. Dave Roberts is hitting .253, with absolutely no power. These are the type of players you pick up on waivers, not the kind you trade a top star for.
The key is to look at their ages. For example, the Phillies have Ryan Howard and Gavin Floyd at AA Reading. Howard is 24, and Floyd is 21. Floyd is MUCH more likely to succeed, based on the fact that he's three years younger.

Even if the team soured on Kazmir, it is inexcusable to trade him for a pitcher the caliber of Victor Zambrano. Kazmir was rated the #5 pitching prospect by John Sickels, and #12 overall by Baseball Prospectus. Kazmir is the guy you trade when you go after Randy Johnson. Not a 28 year old hurler with zero control.
In James' book The Politics Of Glory (written in 1995), James supports seven players for the Hall. Joe Torre, Nellie Fox (since elected), Ron Santo, Richie Ashburn (elected), Jim Kaat, Phil Niekro (elected), and Ken Boyer.
Vanhalen, feel free to write up those columns for the forum if you like. As for other discussion, please take it to the Sports Forum. I'd move this thread myself, but I don't mod this folder.
I think he meant in terms of overrated.
Ali is slightly overrated, but he is the greatest heavyweight ever. Like Tyson, Ali was at his best at an earlier age, before the suspension. He was unhittable.
Its still the best offer he's going to get at this point.
Holyfield was taller. When I think of that fight, Holyfield pretty much stepped up and had the fight of his life. Just an amazing performance.
