I'm thinking of addressing this in the column. In the postscript of Moneyball, Michael Lewis rips into what he calls the Womens Auxilery, a group of sportswriters whose job it seems is to exclude outsiders from the inner workings of baseball. Tracy Ringolsby in particular. I think Kruk and Reynolds fall into this group.
Michael Lewis than stated that the ignorance of these writers is what enables the A's to win so many games. That they speak for the inner members of baseball, who also go out of their way to denounce Moneyball, in spite of solid evidence that it works. Their ignorance and stupidity continue, aided by the inner circle of the broadcasters and writers, and the Athletics continue to win.
