  1. $15 for 100 (soon to be 150 this year) channels is a good deal. Cable won't even be near that for quite some time. I had to pay $200 upfront or my boxes and its only a lease, so you have me beat there.
  2. doesn't look like he'll finish top 4 to be in the sat NH debate
  3. where's my cookie?
  4. The couple of Dodd and Biden supporters are being courted pretty heavily.. This is actually pretty fun tv.
  5. Man "Abraham Lincoln had the same amount of experience in the senate as Obama" Woman "AND HE GOT SHOT!" Man "Wasn't his fault!" (both laugh) these are the people that are picking who we get to pick from as President?
  6. Poor kid is nervous before his first caucus.. aww
  7. If you want two separate directv receivers, you'll pay $5 mirror fee for the 2nd one on top of the regular package price. regular DVR or HD receivers can be had for free with a 2 year commitment, HD-DVR is $99 for new customers. HD Service runs $15 a month, DVR Service is $6. Directv On Demand is free for now with compatible receivers and a broadband internet connection. I pay $75 (80 starting in March) for 2 HD-DVRs with the middle of the road package with no premiums. Subtract 15/6 as appropriate to figure out what you would pay if you dont get DVR or HD service.
  8. Its gonna be Obama and Huckabee
  9. makes me wish I could run out and join the national guard..
  10. Im just going through 2008's list for anything that remotely looks interesting: Cloverfield (though Im sure its going to disapoint) Be Kind Rewind (the trailer is funny but I dont think the concept will hold up for a whole movie) Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo (the name change alone..no.. Iron Man (the teaser has me interested) The Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton is the HULK) Speed Racer (I cant imagine it but I want to see it) You Don't Mess with the Zohan (which looks really stupid but anyway) The Happening (M. Night whatshisname's new movie with Mark Wahlberg) The Dark Knight Trailer Trash (The fake trailer concept from Grindhouse expanded to a full movie..from Eli Roth) X Files 2 (Im almost looking forward to the "Monster of the week" plot) Kung Fu Panda (a CGI kung fu fighting panda!) The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Jet Li and Brendan Frasier!) Curious Case of Benjamin Button (probably be a chick flick but the short story from F Scott Fitzgerald is worthy of a good movie) Motel Hell remake (I question if it really is releasing..) Day the Earth Stood Still remake (haven't heard anything good about it though) Im curious as to the lack of the Star Trek..and Im also not a big James Bond/Harry Potter/Indiana Jones fan so those don't interest me. Of all those, Trailer Trash sounds like its going to be the most fun..already leaked is the inclusion of "Thanksgiving 2" trailer, the "sequel" to the first one included in the Grindhouse fake trailers. It sounds like it will be in the vein of "Catholic high School girls in Trouble", "Kentucky Fried Movie" and "Amazon Women on the Moon"..
  11. I dont see how states can raise cigarette taxes and then also pass laws restricting where people can smoke, but its happened here in MD. $2 a pack tax (4th highest in the country) and now you are not allowed to smoke in restaurants and bars, as well as (locally at least)at hospitals and colleges, basically saying you can't smoke on those properties at all, even in your own car if its in their parking lots. It seems sort of stupid to raise taxes for revenue on something you are trying to tax into the ground to make people stop. Eventually either people quit because of the cost due to the taxes or they go to other states (Virginia especially here) to avoid the tax, but either way that revenue stream will probably keep shrinking until they need to find something else to tax. Oh, and on the gas tax..O'malley wanted to reword the MD gas tax to tie it to the consumer price index or something so that it would automatically increase a certain amount every year, as well as raising it to $.355 a gallon up from $.235 a gallon, which would mean total taxes with federal at about $.535 a gallon, but as far as I can tell that was his only tax increase that didn't manage to get passed.
  12. Highlight of my year was going to the Six Flags in Jersey and riding El Toro. Oddly enough, the list of things that beat out would probably be #1 for most people..
  13. ugh.. Isnt some 3rd party making a wireless nunchuck? I cant see why there wouldn't be a wireless classic controller soon as well.
  14. He gets on the 40 man roster (HA) but it looks like he'll be in Norfolk. Nobody on the OH likes the move and I bet Al here doesn't care.. oh well. It's a minor, organizational move. The Phillies signed So Taguchi and picked up T.J. Bohn on waivers late last season, and after our minor league signees (Brandon Watson) I've got him ninth on the team's outfield depth chart. He's not going to be an Oriole, this is just a move to shore up their own minor league depth. Nothing to get worked up over. I bet he gets called up at some point in the season. He plays CF which they still dont have anyone other than Tike Redman to play and Im convinced there wont be any more deals made before spring training.
  15. The Ravens will probably go defense.
  16. He gets on the 40 man roster (HA) but it looks like he'll be in Norfolk. Nobody on the OH likes the move and I bet Al here doesn't care.. oh well.
  17. Heidenreich would have been a big success if they had done the frozen nazi gimmick
  18. A little local news, but the mention of a carbon tax is interesting here in MD because the fucking Democratic Governor OMalley just raised taxes across the board (sales tax up to 6%, 4 income tax brackets instead of 1, an 8.25% corporate income tax up from 7%, $1 increase in cigarette tax) to cover a "structural budget deficit" (Read.."we're not getting enough of Marylanders money to cover all the money we want to spend, so instead of spending less we'll tax more!"). Well, apparently theres another "structural budget deficit" looming in 2010, and with little way to increase those taxes any more (Corporate and Cigarette taxes are now in the top 5 highest in the country) and a lot of state money riding on Marylanders passing the slots referendum in November, I do believe I heard the first rumblings of a state carbon tax that will soon be coming down the pipeline in Maryland, probably in the name of Maryland taking a stand on Global Warming or something completely stupid. So it wouldn't surprise me that the Presidential Democrat candidates are thinking the same thing. I was looking up stats on Carbon taxes and it seems the standard is $100 per ton, so that would mean a tax of about $.90 per gallon of gas, and it would also raise costs of coal, natural gas, diesel fuel and electricity since they all generate carbon emissions as well.
  19. Its going to be a 15 minute tag team ironman match from the sounds of it (most pinfalls in 15 minutes wins) thats lame, though I dont recall off the top of my head any tag team iron man matches..
  20. Smackdown is gonna be in HD on Friday and I cant get CW in HD.. BOO!
  21. The SAG goes on Strike over the summer with the Writers who are still on strike and Hollywood is pretty much shut down. Television becomes a choice of either sports, politics or game shows. Struggling actors turn to celebrity editions of game shows such as Smarter than a 5th Grader and Jeopardy to make money instead of for their favorite charities. The Presidential election is a rehash of 2000 but in reverse as the Republicans accuse the democrats of stealing the election with phony votes (from illegal immigrants) in California. This time the Supreme Court rules that there must be a new election run early in 2009 with stricter voting rules across the country. With 1/3 fewer votes being counted in the 2nd election (gee..I wonder why..?), the Republican nominee beats the Democratic nominee handily. Meanwhile, George W. Bush dyes his hair jet black and becomes an Elvis Impersonator during the last few days of his presidency. China wins the most gold medals of any nation at the Olympics, but eventually will end up forfeiting at least 1/4 of them due to doping allegations several years after the fact. After returning home from the Olympics, several American athletes including the entire USA Basketball team all get sick due to lead poisoning. China agrees to stop producing crap with lead if the US will force McDonalds out of China. McDonalds then promptly goes bankrupt in the move and results in a huge spike in unemployment until they realize they can all get jobs at Taco Bell which days later announces a massive increase in stores nationwide. Taco Bell's store increase also came with a side plan, The Taco Bell Fuel for the Future Initiative, funded and researched in parter with the federal governement. It would supply eaters as the restaurant chain with Methane caputring devices that users would stick on their asses after consuming food from their restaurants. With bean prices falling rapidly, Taco Bell is also able to increase the bean content of their dishes 3 fold, providing more fuel for their Taco Bell Fuel For the Future initiative. Despite this, the methane recaptured only amounts to a 3% reduction in oil demand, but the TBFFI is seen as a success. Gas prices will hit $3.50 by the summer and level off for the rest of the year, but Milk will almost double in price to $7 a gallon angering many americans at the US Dairy Cartel for making tons of money off the poor backs of those defensless, Ozone layer destroying cows. Soy milk sales skyrocket until further research is revealed that young boys who drink soy milk turn in to pansies due to the estrogen in it. Soy Milk is thus banned and the breakfast drink of choice becomes Rats milk, to the delight of one Heather Mills and a certain poster here. Hurricane Marco slams into Florida as a Category 6 (having to up the # because it was so enormous and devastating) storm and buries the entire state of Florida under 25 feet of water. Al Gore is seen chuckling somewhere on a big jet flying to a global warming conference, which suddenly crashes somewhere around Greenland, landing on a melting iceberg.
  22. John Cena is #30 and eliminates everyone left in less than 90 seconds for the win, then he doesn't have to wrestle again until the end of March though they can keep him on TV for the hype and ratings.
  23. This Hawaii/Georgia game should be interesting...
  24. I was never able to beat Bubble Bobble on the NES...
  25. Rey Mysterio might be 33, but I think his body is that of a 45 year old or so.. and the other thing is, in 5 years I dont see half that roster still active.
