I might watch it..but Im not gonna glue myself to the TV for 6 hours of hype and I cant imagine even the most die hard of Patriots fans would either.. -
I was mad ST wasn't out here over the weekend but if it opens wide, I have a $1 movie ticket from fandango with its name on it..I just checked fandango and no go..so..yeah...BOO! Youd think with 16 screens they'd be able to show it but NO! Will there be a 3rd National Treasure movie? The first one was all kinds of stupid but it made money, its from Disney and the sequel opened well. Cage must be begging for it..

1080p is supported by 2nd gen and later HD-DVD players although every movie that has been made on HD-DVD was encoded at 1080p from the start. The catch on that Combo Samsung player is that Samsung was originally in the Blu Ray camp (and still makes stand alone blu ray players), so I dont think Sony and the Blu Ray people would be too thrilled with the combo player if it put HD-DVD on the same level with Blu Ray in the combo player. Theres probably a technical reason why the combo player doesnt support HD-DVD at 1080p, but I honestly figure its not the main reason why 1080p for HD-DVD isn't supported.

Im waiting til the last minute so I can pick people who no one else picked for those bonus points. Only real chance I have of winning.

Traditionally its a dead thread..spoilers have been available for a couple weeks and most people are out with family or doing last minute shopping/wrapping etc. I have to get up at 4am for work so Im probably not gonna be able to stay up to watch it..

The Ravens were 4-12 in 1996 but at least they had the "used car sold at a dealership smell" and it was NFL Football back in Baltimore! -
Nintendo needs to hire that guy. Seriously. And they need to figure out how to do something similar to what he was doing at the end with the remote and glasses on. FPS games would be revolutionized by that.

I will quit TSM if the Ravens win. Its not going to happen. The Ravens are trotting out whats essentially a JV football squad today..no Todd Heap, Ray Lewis, Chris McCallister or Samari Rolle (out next week as well), meaning such great NFL talent as Quinn Sypniewski, Nick Griesen, Corey Ivy and Willie Gaston will get starts in their places. Troy Smith is also starting (which is actually good long term but bad for today) and as far as I can tell, he's the only QB available though a concussed Boller could probably play in an emergency. -
Lakota Indians secede from the United States
MarvinisaLunatic replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Current Events
I know they're seceding because of a really high unemployment rate (something like 40% I think I heard) and the average male of the lakota only lives to be 40 some years old due to drug and alcohol issues and the like. I dont think they feel the government is doing enough for them as it is and that they'd be better off on their own than trying to fight for a bigger piece of the ever shrinking government funds pie that no regular American not of Native American desecent would support them getting since the Indians are "getting rich of their casinos" as it is, so they dont need the money, when in actuality with the Lakota its not even close to being true for most of them anyway. -
I had actually heard this on the Mike McConnell show yesterday and was surprised no one had mentioned it as of yet, seeing as how its a pretty significant event in U.S. history, I think at least. The interesting question which was brought up on the radio show is whether or not they are wanting regular Americans who live in the upper midwest (Montana/North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming) to renounce their citizenship to join or if its just the Lakota tribe members, as the quote (in bold) in the article is pretty vague on that issue.

I didnt get anyone anything and have no plans to because more than likely I wont be getting anything from anyone either. As a plus Im working Christmas Eve and Christmas day just to keep away any holiday cheer that could aimlessly wander my way. I should get the people I work with something but last year, no fucking joke, my boss gave me a personal grooming kit with a comb, a nose hair and beard trimmer in it, and I got a couple tins of stale popcorn that was 50% the cheese kind that makes me sick anyway. The company I work for gave me a $20 (!!!) Giftcard to Wal Mart for christmas though and I went and bought the new Futurama DVD with it! Oh..does gifting Super Ghouls and Ghosts for the SNES over the Nintendo VC to thoth count? +1 gift if it does.

Acquired by whom? People buy land in Texas (and every other state) all the time. The states are getting the land through that wonderful concept called eminent domain, wherin you lose your property and get little to no compensation for it, because your land is needed for the greater good of the people, and theres nothing the landowners can do to fight it.

They lose the Super Bowl. There will be so much pressure on them to win the Super Bowl that I cant actually see them winning unless the NFC representative is some fluke like the Redskins or some barely over .500 to make the wild card miracle run in the playoffs..

Here's two I like: Bobby Lashley makes his return at the Rumble as a heel on ECW and sides with Mark Henry, Big Daddy V, thus reforming the Nation of Domination, which gets "damn"ed by Ron Simmons for good measure just because. WM 24 is a huge distaster when it rains throughout the whole night and several wrestlers get injured, including HHH who tears another quad in the Main Event but manages to finish the match and win the title anyway. Flair wins at WM vs whoever he faces, only to lose on RAW the next night. MVP wins the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Edge defeats the Undertaker to end Taker's streak.

The Jamie Noble stuff was hillarious.

The sad thing is if the Os trade Roberts and Bedard and dont acquire major league ready talent at certain positions (2B,SS,CF) it pretty much guarantees a guys like Brandon fahey starting at 2B, Luis Hernandez at SS and Freddie Bynum in CF for the Os in 2008. If they do manage to trade off Bedard and Roberts..they might not even win 40 games next year, its going to be that bad. I thought the offense was anemic over the last few years, 08 looks like it could be shaping up to set some records for offensive futility.

30 people voted for Billick as worst.. Theres probably a list a mile long of why he should be fired today, but the fact is he has Steve Biscotti wrapped around his finger and has him believing that its everything else besides him as the reason for the crappy 4-10 season. For starters, although I have no statistical proof, Id wager a fair bet the Ravens are in the top 3 of penalties against this year, and have probably been the last few years. Whether its been dumb offsides penalties that plagued them to death last year killing offensive drives, or this years 15 yard flag tossing variety, it proves that Billick has lost control of his team and can't discipline them, probably because half the team has bigger egos than he does (and his ego is the size of the planet Jupiter). This weekends debacle also shows that his play calling stinks worse than garbage thats been sitting out for 3 weeks. In a game that actually mattered (and maybe in Billick's head, the game vs the Dolphins mattered..) you kick the freaking FG. But in the situation that they were in, where only pride is on the line and a win would give the team some sort of confidence, you go for the TD. Would they have scored the TD? Probably not, and they would have lost the game, but thats what ended up happening anyway and it was much more embarassing to lose on a 60 yard TD pass in OT than on a heroic goal line play with just seconds left. His play calling is also way too inconsistent with the exception of the fact that he's probably the most conservative coach in the NFL (see the FG at the end of the Dolphins game). Back in 2000, conservative play calling on offense could win the game because the Defense wasn't going to give up 24 points a game, they only had to score a few points and they felt like they could win. Now, they have to score points to win, and they actually DO HAVE the offensive weapons available but Billick uses them in the exact opposite situations that he should. 1rst and 10..we've got McGahee..do we run the ball..fuck no..lets try and pass the ball 7 yards! INCOMPLETE! 2nd and 10..do we give McGahee the ball and try and pick up some yardage to make 3rd down more managable..no! Lets try to throw the ball 30 yards! Incomplete! Now its 3rd and 10! We've obviously got to pass the ball 10 yards right? Wrong, screen pass for 7 and its 4th down..aww. Willis McGahee is 4th in the NFL with almost 1200 yards rushing but in this 8 game losing streak he's only had more than 21 rushing attempts times twice (vs NE and vs Miami, both very close games that the Ravens could have won, the other 6 were mostly complete blowouts with the exception of the Cleveland FG debacle). The other big thing is that he is stubborn when it comes to pulling players. I know that a coach can be TOO FAST to pull the trigger to replacing a QB, but with Billick its the exact opposite. McNair was obviously hurt early on in the season, and if he had been pulled for Boller permanently after week 5 instead of allowing him to come back after the bye in week 8, maybe things would have turned out differently..maybe not..but McNair wouldn't be on national TV fumbling the ball every possession vs the Steelers, leaving them at 4-4. Only after McNair was injured so badly that it was obvious to everyone who has 2 eyes and can at least see the color purple did he pull McNair for Boller. Boller isn't the answer..and thats why the decision to go with Boller over Troy Smith pisses me off even more. Billick wants to do everything they can do to win this weekend, which according to him means starting Kyle Boller (who, by the way has the Ravens lead in most passing statistics that I can think of)..Unfortunately, at 4-10 and after just losing to the Dolphins and now on the road vs a Division winning team in Seattle..it would probably be safe to assume theres more of a chance of Jimmy Hoffa's body being found than of a Ravens victory..so why not start Troy Smith? As luck would have it, Boller's "concussion" seems to be pointing towards Smith starting.. Some of the blame is on an aging, injury probe defense that is still one of the best against the run but absolutely horrid vs the pass (anytime you lose both your starting former Pro Bowl CBs, that happens, but still..) But the defense has had to carry the Ravens team for the last 9 years under Billick and at some point if Billick refuses to change the offensive strategy to meet the current situation the team is in and personel that he has available, then someone else (and I have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER who Id have on a list of potential replacements) has to be hired to come in and do it. If the SB in 2000 didn't happen then he'd have been gone a couple years ago, but its time oh, and theres no freaking way Johnathan Ogden deserved to go to the Pro Bowl this year, even as a reserve. -

I think shipping cost passed on to consumers would probably keep prices deflated somewhat anyway..I cant imagine what it would cost to ship that huge box.
