I withdraw my arguement, then.

Don't be crazy. JJ has done a lot to screw up TNA, no question, but saying he is worse than Just Joe is insane. Joe is not really good. He could have been a TNA mid-carder, WWE jobber, but that's it. The same could be said about JJ. The only reason he got anything over curtain jerker has always been because of Jerry's name. At least Joe has potential to be made into a star with the right kind of push. Jarrett has proven over the years that he just can't cut it and doesn't deserve the treatment he gets.
-
You're giving us Brown vs. Hardy AGAIN???? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, TNA????? Didn't they get the memo that Brown vs. Hardy was a shitty match to begin with? Now they want to do it again, especially by having them go over two superior workers in Abyss and Raven? In other news, Piper did what I knew he would: NOTHING. Jarrett summed up TNA with the "its my world" thing. Truer words were never spoken. Fuck this company, they'll be dead soon anyway as long as they're putting out shit like this.
-
On the mic and in the ring, Joe is light years beyond Jarrett. To me, this is just more proof of Jarrett's inability to judge talent and his Helmsley-level ego. Legend does sound bitter there, but he's right to say that Jarrett is a talentless hack who is running his own company into the ground. TNA is going to prove Leonard as one of the most incompetent promoters of all time. Legend's hatred of Jarrett is probably very personal, but that doesn't make him wrong.

If it were me, I'd have the Committee be Funk, Rhodes, Race, and Steamboat. A nice round number of guys with good history in the NWA. I wouldn't give them an office or whatever, but make the group very behind-the-scenes. They'd only show up when a decision needed to be made, and only one of them would be needed to come out and announce the decision. They would just pop up unexpected (I don't believe in advertising "This guy is going to make an announcement next week!") and you'd never know which guy was gonna show up. The only time all four of them would be seen together is at an event like the Anniversary Show. Maybe once in a blue moon one of them would have a match to straighten out some cocky heel. But TNA can't do it that way, because that way would just be too darn interesting.

I almost expected you to say something like that. Anyways, you didn't say that D'Lo was unskilled, but you DID say that he wasn't very over. He was very much over in TNA. Well, as over as one can be when the bookers are constantly sabotaging the shows.
-
Won't happen. Even if there are some people out there who actually keep watch on what these names are doing and will buy a 30 dollar PPV to watch them, it won't be enough to cover the money TNA is paying them. TNA will LOSE MONEY by doing this, even though I actually like some of the guys they're gonna bring in. I'll reiterate what everyone else is saying: TNA is better off if they try to develop their own stars. The only people TNA seriously tries to put over are Jarrett, Styles, and AMW, and even the way they put them over sucks. If TNA had actually built up its roster around guys like Raven, Truth, Abyss, Daniels, Ki, Sabin, Siaki, and Kash, they wouldn't be so close to closing down.
-
It would just be way too easy for me to flame Marty for that. I'm happy as hell that Russo's going to leave, and I hope he stays gone. TNA's infatuation with focusing half the show on nonwrestlers won't stop though. Either Piper or Dusty will take over as DOA. On another note: is it just me, or did the Championship Committee idea flop REALLY badly?
-
Going by this logic, I guess you could say that its a good thing TNA got rid of CM Punk too. I mean, the guy was shit in the ring, he couldn't give a promo to save his life, and his character was totally bland. Yessir, TNA didn't need his mediocre ass. Bring on more Jeff Hardy! Donners, I respect that you're trying to make a challenging arguement, but to say that D'Lo was unskilled and unover is just plain stupid.
-
Having a tournament is a good thing. Its nice to see the challengers earn the right to put Jarrett over at the big show. Its still baffling to me that TNA considers Hardy and Jarrett to be real main eventers. Piper's going to show up and talk about God-knows-what. I'm serious, he's never had anything to say in TNA in the past, why should we care about watching him now? He's just going to do what he always does, which is rant and rave about things no one gives a shit about.
-
When you put it like that, Monty DOES seem like a legit main eventer when he's put against the likes of those two. BTW, were they chanting "you killed Nitro" at Jarrett? If so, that's hilarious.
-
I feel like I should've bet money on this. It was gonna happen sooner or later, but I gave Hardy the benefit of the doubt. Stupid me, I guess. Maybe now TNA will see what a stupid fucking move it was to sign Hardy to a contract.
-
The whole tourney is a good idea, but I think it's leading to a Jarrett/Hardy rematch. Brown will beat Raven, and Hardy will beat Abyss due to some Goldi-ference. Then Raven interferes in Monty-Hardy, and Hardy wins. It does you no good to have Monty job to Jarrett (because really, it hasn't done anyone much good), but programming him with Raven should be a good thing. Having Hardy win the tournament, and have Victory Road be a rematch would be terrible. Brown wouldn't be my choice, but he's the best man to do the job (pun intended). Whoever goes on will probably do the job to Jarrett. However, if Dutch/Jarrett have even on iota of intellegence between them, they'll give the strap to Monty instead of jobbing him out. If they do that, however, fuck 'em.
-
That's actually a damn good card for a show. The only problem with that is the tag team division is hopelessly lost right now, and Divine may not be able to work the show. Other than that its good. On another note, I heard that TNA wants to bring in a LOT of names for Victory Road. Hall, Nash, Sean Waltman, Sting, Terry Funk, DDP, and Piper were all mentioned. Maybe... just maybe... they're only being brought in as special attractions? As long as most of them don't wrestle.
-
I still think the show drags with Jarrett on it. Bringing in big names like Piper, Nash, and even Funk and Hall won't work. Russo and the Comittee are getting too much air time. Hotshotting the tag titles around pisses me off. Plus, the meaningless squashes do nothing for anyone in the promotion. But other than that shit, it seems actually decent. A tournament (which Brown will win, which kinda sucks), setting up AJ vs. Williams for Victory Road, ABYSS AND RAVEN as actual title contenders. All in all, it shows more promise than usual. It can't overcome the absolutely glaring flaws it has, but its doing one or two things right. I'm positive though that VR will be a letdown and the show will continue to kill itself over time. TNA hasn't done anything here to warrant my faith in them again, I'm just admitting that I think they did better here.
-
But if they did that, they'd actually be... y'know, THRIVING. By pretending to be the next big thing, TNA is actually killing itself. I honestly don't think they have much time left before they go the way of MLW.
-
I appreciate that Borash did the videos for most of TNA's existence. But now that TNA has Sahadi, Borash has crossed the threshold and is now COMPLETELY worthless.
-
So he's to blame, huh? Borash has a job because he's buddies with Jarrett. Not much else to it, really. Almost anybody could be a ring announcer, so its not like JB is being paid for an invaluable service.
-
Honestly, just about everyone in TNA can add to the show. Vince Russo, Goldilocks, and to a certain extent Jeremy Borash are the only people who are 100% useless. Everyone else just needs to be used better. This isn't the best roster in the world by a stretch, but its decent. Here's how I'd use some of TNA's more "useless" talents and make them more entertaining: James/Konnan: other than AMW, what face tag teams does TNA have? They do drag down Truth, but they've gotten better also. I say put them up against good opponents who can help hide their weaknesses and they're fine. Erik Watts: he can talk, and he's okay in small doses. Put him with someone as their manager. Simon/Swinger: a great team, but terrible in singles. Team them back up and let Simon do the talking. Glen Gilberti: put him in a suit and he'd be a decent heel manager. Kazarian: not great, but he's just there to be Michael Shane's sidekick. Keep him there and keep the spotlight on Shane. Eric Young: break him away from Team Canada. This guy should be fueding with Shark Boy and D-Ray on Impact. He plays a decent heel, just not good enough to be midcard. Dusty/Larry: they're legends, but they're not the end-all-be-all that TNA makes them out to be. Use them sparingly to give the rub to the TNA talents. Shane Douglas: give him Don West's spot. Tenay/Douglas would be a great announcing team. Don West: give him Douglas' spot. West's enthousiasm would add to the interviews. Dallas: he's a bodygaurd, no big deal. As long as they don't give him the World Title like WWF did with Nash, he won't be a problem. Amazing Red: he was once a bright spot of the X Division, now he's nothing. Use him to elevate other X Division wrestlers. The Elite Gaurd: TNA fucked this team over huge. Put Hernandez somewhere else and Collyer/Onyx would be a kickass tag team. Jeff Hardy: special attraction, nothing more. He's not main event; he's barely midcard. Let him do his thing, but don't put him on center stage. Jeff Jarrett: can hardly do shit anymore, but he owns the company. JJ wants to carry TNA so bad he's going to kill the company to do it. That's fine with me, but if I was calling the shots, I'd retire him in a match against Raven and bring him back as the DOA. He'd be the only nonwrestler/authority figure, and he would NOT be involved in the angles. He'd make a few decisions and he'd be a megalomaniacal heel, but wouldn't fued with anybody in particular. Case closed.
-
Just the thought of Jeff Jarrett as the company's big main eventer is enough to turn anyone off this show. Every match here has at least one shitty worker in it. Fuck this show and fuck TNA.
-
I am against having the faces be angels and the heels be cowards. I say let the wrestlers have interesting gimmicks and then let the fans decide who they want to cheer or boo. The most important thing to a wrestler is using him for his strengths, and the second most important thing is listening to how the fans respond to him and adapting to that response. Examples: If the fans aren't buying Siaki as a face no matter what heel you put him against, then maybe he shouldn't be a face. If Raven gets cheers for being an evil sonuvabitch, let him keep doing it and he can fued with heels and faces alike(unlike what WWE did with John Cena).
-
That's what I'm talkin' about. Get rid of those two elements--have some **** matches and allow for character depth--and I'd pay to watch a Memphis-style show.
-
The Memphis style isn't everyone's cup of tea. It's very basic booking and it's based on heels cheating and faces being honorable tools loved by teenage girls. It's true 'rasslin, to say the least. I personally love it. Heels on crutches trying to weasel out of title shots ... heels hiding weapons in their kneepads ... gimmick matches galore ... terms like "yella-bellied" being thrown around on a regular basis ... sign me up! I like that in a promotion, actually. I'd have no problem with it as long as great wrestlers were allowed to have their best matches (Daniels), and popular gimmicks aren't scrapped just because they don't fit the typical face/heel formula (Raven). That booking style, however, is one I'd be interested in seeing.
-
I like West. Although, if they were to put him as backstage interviewer, and bring Shane Douglas in as the color man, it'd be a lot better. Douglas would be a better color man, and West would probably make a very good interviewer. Borash should be shot. I like the ring announcing and "boxing style" intros to World Title matches... but anybody can do that. They should get rid of Borash and let someone with a better voice be the ring announcer, but they won't since he's all up Jeff's ass.

- TNA got a big plug on today's Monsters in the Morning radio show out of Florida (which is broadcasted nationally via XM Radio). The show plugged the return of Marc Mero in a tag match with DJ Russ Rollings next week at the Impact! taping in Orlando. Many TNA wrestlers including Raven, Dusty Rhodes, and Jeff Jarrett also appeared during the segment. From 411. So maybe this is a one time thing, which doesn't make it so bad. Mero will wrestle a little, the crowd will cheer, and then he'll leave. Here's what I'm afraid of though: TNA will sign Mero to a contract and try to push him as a Living Legend, and that we're somehow lucky to see him return out of retirement. They'll have AJ carry him in a match then push him up against Jarrett. Jarrett will put himself over Mero and continue to book TNA to shit.
