  1. Duke: Where we DO get enough All-Americans to fill a School Bus, but we almost never live up to expectations, that come with our "Blue Blood" Pedigree.
  2. If Vince was smart...Edge would win this match, without question. Or at the very least, HHH would win without totally beginning to destroy the reputations of the other two opponents in the match. But of course, one or both of them may get buried at Backlash. I can't wait for Triple H's 11th Reign. We should take bets on how long this'll last. I say till next Backlash.
  3. I almost wish there was a 3rd Place Game now. Notice how everytime Nantz gives the Mid Majors Props, FudgePacker is silent as hell. It's almost like he's preparing for new ways to dig on them for next season. I would love to see him and Tom Breenan go at it.
  4. Well, it seems like the Anti-Climantic Championship Game is becoming a Trend. The past 3 out of the 6 Championship Games have been really bad. Yeah, we had Syracuse/Kansas, but we have had Maryland/Indiana (which should be never shown again), UConn/Georgia Tech (Tech took a dump in this game) and now this. At least Illinois tried to fight back. UCLA just got embarassed.... And Florida...may be the pre-season #1 for the 2006-2007 season. Escpecially if these Baby Gators stay and evolve into Full Grown ones.
  5. They acutally show the '85 Game few times a year, but nowhere near enough for it being the greatest game ever. It ushered the Modern Age of the Tournament and it should be treated as such. And I'm glad you bought up the Lorenzo Dunk, for as much they overkill that highlight, there's only one highligh that's overkilled even more... The Christain Latiner Shot aganist Kentucky. I acknowledge it was the greatest game ever, but come on, it is not the greatest shot, ever, IMHO. I can think of quite a few shots greater than that one (Valpo '98, Arkansas '81, Syracuse in the Big East Tournament this year, Georgia Tech '92, etc.)
  6. You're preaching to the choir dude. That game was awesome, and you don't have to tell me twice. But ever since I saw that game a few years back on Classic, I've never seen that game, again. I've also only seen the 1986 Final Four Highlights once. But unless you seek it out, and you're not a fan of Louisville, alot of people will never know what went down that year. Not to mention that CBS seems to skip that Championship Game when they do their highlights montage, so they're also in on the attempt to erase that game from history. The sad thing is this...If ESPN had to choose from a fucked up tape of La Salle's Miracle from '47 and a Restored Version of the '86 Championship Game they would choose the former, just to avoid airing it.
  7. Well the '86 Championship Game existed and no one acknowkedges it besides Louisville Fans (I don't think anyone forgave Denny Crum for spoiling Duke's coming out party.) and knowledgeable fans. In all honesty, this Final Four has been the most anti-climatic finish I've seen ever for a National Championship Game. We have no "favorites", no "legends", no "POY's", no "storylines" besides the Joakim Noah and the UCLA returns to Championship Form storylines (which are flat boring compared to what we could've had), there is nothing there to grip the casual fan. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those who think the Final 4 is ruined because the Marquee Teams aren't in it. They couldn't get it done and it's the reason why they're not there. But I can definetely see where this Championship Game, would not appeal to people. I'll be watching.
  8. Chevy Award Winners Are: Coach of the Year: Jay Wright! (The Hofstra Fan in me is smiling) Player of the Year: Adam Morrison I have no complaints on these winners. Wright deserves at least one Coach of the Year Award for having a great year that fell just short in the end. And I know a few people are going to complain about Morrison, but there is still the Wooden Award, and I think he's going to get it.
  9. Yes. I noticed this. Whenever they show classic games with him on the mic, he brings it like Jim Ross did back when he was in NWA JCP/WCW. His knowledge of the game is immpeccable. What I wonder is when did Vitale start to become a shitty, coach K blowjob givin' mockery of himself?_
  10. This may be just the Big East Mark in me, but this seems to be fucking impossible to me. Unless James Worthy and Micheal Jordan shoot 80%, they're not going to beat one of the most disciplined teams of all time. Not with John Thompson at his best and Ewing being the one of the most dominant College Centers, ever (and he proved it in '84). People understandly realize that Jordan is the greatest Player of all time. But back in the College Game it wasn't the Jordan era for a reason. Ewing owned all at the time. It's a damn shame he never won a NBA Championship, so only Knicks and other knowledgeable fans know how good he was. And yes, I think he retired much too late. It was a joke to see him in anything other than Knick Blue.
  11. And then there were 4. Four that are left standing. Four that have survived. Four that have earned the right to compete for the National Championship. And after. - 5 Months - Hundred of Games - Dozens of Climatic Finishes - And one amazing Run. We now have our four teams, and these are. - The UCLA Bruins - The Florida Gators - The LSU Tigers And the ultimate Cinderella that broke through the glass celing.... - The George Mason Patriots With no 1 seeds making it (a first since 1980), and only one team, even in the discussion to win a National Championship (UCLA), needless to say this season is finishing the way no one in their right minds (except for the hardcore fans of said teams) would think would happen. And even though this Final Four has no pre-season favorites, no 1 seeds, no All-Americans, no John Wooden Award Finalists, no Naismith Award Finalists and no Hall of Fame Coaches, it is shaping up to be one of the best Final 4s, ever. With that said, let the final act commence.
  12. If the former happened, Hofsta fans would be snickering and crying at the same time. If the latter happened, we would be happy for George Mason, but skinn becomes a curse word on this campus, and we will hate George Mason, forever. Which might lead into the next great college hoops rivalry. And I still say Colonials beat themselves with poor shooting and too many turnovers, during the Duke Game. If they had played that game like they played the Xavier one, or even the last 10 minutes of the UNC-W game, the game is ALOT closer to say the least. I guess it's time to start the new thread.
  13. How the HELL is Nova STILL in this game?
  14. I say we ban lox from the sports forum for extreme stupidity. How about the rest of you? People, this is what happens when you make off topic threads for teams that haven't been playing well.
  15. Easy, we played better than them. *Yes, I am a bit bitter.*
  16. This game sucked more than any has sucked before. And its not even a Big East type of game where no one scores, because of great defense...It's just a shitty game. UCLA won this game, but they came out looking like shit too. And a special Thanks to the Refs, for being extra retarded tonight. Way to help UCLA when they didn't even need it.
  17. Thanks Iggy and Smues. I have PLENTY of Fuck Duke Material for next season's threads. Yankee-fan like behavior for the win.
  18. Don't worry, if Gonzaga is to become the new Duke, there will be a big stink about the one side refereeing. I don't like either team getting the calls, but if you're going to get on the Zags, you gotta get on the Blue Devils too.
  19. Meanwhile, I think Iggy is throwing up right now. Gonzaga is DOMINATING UCLA.
  20. They have beaten both Gonzaga and UCLA this season. But wow, holy shit, Memphis is in the Elite 8. I was wondering when our Memphis Fan was going to show up. Good Show by the Tigers. Here's to hoping we have a Gonzaga/Memphis Rematch.
  21. Why would they dump Jamie? Doesn't he have like a 75% winning percentage?
  22. Bye Bye Duke. I knew They wouldn't win the National Title. Now it's all about Nova.
  23. Are you suprised it didn't get called? No. Good. This is one of the MAIN reasons why Duke is unlikeable. It isn't the fact that they win. It's that they end up changing the game in ways it shouldn't be.
  24. The 1st and 2nd Rounds are over, and after 4 Days of Great Basketball, we all know why we love College Basketball. Sure, your team may have been upset by some directional school. Sure, your bracket is a disaster area. Sure, you may have lost 200 dollars on that "Sure Bet" to win the National Title. But most people are still watching and still waiting to see what happens next. As most of us know, the term "March Madness" is a term derived from all the upsets that usually happen in the first round, which throws the tournament out of order for the next round. However, by Sunday night, only 1 or 2 of the "cinderellas" remain, and the rest of the teams are from the Power 6 and Select Major Conferences. That is when the serious business of crowning a national Champion gets underway. However, this year is a little bit different. Instead of One or Two non BCS Teams surviving, you have a record 5 that have made it to the second weekend, with at least one guranteed to get a shot at the Final 4. The madness is not over, for all we know it may have just begun. With that said, it's time for the 2nd and Probably most dramatic phase of the tournament. The Regional Semi-Finals and Finals. From these rounds, the 4 Regional Champions will be determined, and a Final 4 will be established. Let the madness continue.
  25. No, he'll still spin it. Or he will wait till they lose (even if they get to the Final 4.) to start crooning off. Wow...What a Tournament. What a Tournament.
