  1. I don't see how D'Antoni's Suns were any different from the Kings and Mavs of the early to mid oughts. All of them had a certain degree of success playing an uptempo system, but ultimately failed against better, more balanced teams. It seems a little ironic that there seems to be a backlash now against that team as I know I was shot down on several occasions in the past when I said they weren't good enough to win the title. As for Nash's two MVPs, I don't have any qualms. Inevitably that discussion will turn into a Most Outstanding versus Most Valuable argument, which I'm not interested in. The way I look at it is Nash ran the most successful regular season team for two consecutive years. He had as much as a case anyone, even if historically he'll fall short of the other two-time winners.
  2. To piggyback off that, here are the organizational rankings from BA: 1. Rangers 2. Marlins 3. A's 4. Rays 5. Giants 6. Braves 7. Indians 8. Cards 9. O's 10. Brewers 11. Royals 12. Phillies 13. Red Sox 14. Reds 15. Yankees 16. White Sox 17. Mets 18. Pirates 19. Jays 20. Rockies 21. Nats 22. Twins 23. Dodgers 24. M's 25. Angels 26. D-Backs 27. Cubs 28. Tigers 29. Padres 30. Astros
  3. Stop listening to these people. Just keep using the system that works for you. Everyone's body works a little bit differently and you found a mix of diet and exercise that was giving you results. I don't know why you're so overly concerned with what other people have to say about your diet.
  4. Sorry I haven't posted Excel chart updates. I'll try to do that tonight. As I stated last week, the contest ends on February 28th. Please have a final update between now and next Monday. Thanks.

  6. The what now? Czech went into a funk for about 20 minutes yesterday where he thought it was time to delete TSM and go our separate ways. It was probably serious at that moment, but no one should take the suggestion seriously.
  7. Amare Stoudemire has a detached retina. He's going to miss the rest of the regular season. (Link) Bet he didn't see that one coming. Suns ownership probably wishes that they would have made a deal now. What a downer for a franchise that had their first glimmer of hope after two Clipper beatdowns under new coach Alvin Gentry. In other news, Kevin Garnett is heading back to Boston to have an MRI on his knee. No one knows the severity of the injury yet, but it doesn't look real good on the surface. In post trade deadline news, Mikki Moore has been bought out by the Kings and Joe Smith has asked for his from the Thunder. Both would be in consideration as bench help for the Celtics and Cavs.
  8. Andy Marte, the former number one prospect in baseball, was designated for assignment yesterday by the Cleveland Indians. During the 2006 offseason he was the key piece traded in the Braves acquisition of Edgar Renteria and the Sox' pursuit of Coco Crisp. Unfortunately he never showed the ability to hit anything at the major league level and now sports a career OPS+ of 56.
  9. And you've got a sarcastic comeback in all of them. Good work.
  10. I've mostly stopped reading Deadspin since Will Leitch left. Too many updates about things I just don't find that amusing.
  11. Has anyone read The Yankee Years yet?
  12. EDIT: Nevermind
  13. Parker Bone is 18 years young today.

  15. That WWE folder has really hardened Venkman. I bet he's smoking two packs a day now.
  16. I just wanted to use the phrase "penis-toting weirdo."
  17. Marney's dead, Leena's a penis-toting weirdo, and Milky disappeared into the internet ether. Hell, even the warlocks that hang out in OAOAST are talking about abandoning the board. Czech says we've reached our natural conclusion, Kamala's contemplating TSM: The Next Generation and EHME is spitting a garbled mess that needs a translator. This place has hung around through thick and thin, from Scott Keith looking like Hitler to $10 computers, Benoit killing his wife and kids and finally, TSM becoming the playground for Danny Maff's Nitro Party. My question is simple: Where do we go from here?
  18. DrVenkman PhD is one of my gimmicks. I use it to start worthless threads in NHB. Not my best work either.
  19. Is FiveThirtyEight the site run by Nate Silver? I still can't get over the fact that he's doing political analysis now.
  20. I bet once they study his brain, it'll look like that of an 80 year old Alzheimer patient. This is the only one that was amusing. The rest of you are just sad. You didn't like when I called them the original odd couple? For shame alkeiper, for shame.
  21. Taiga=Coach Jeff Van Gunty EHME=Toryn Abraham
  22. Celtics swap Patrick O'Bryant for Will Soloman. Surely this is the final piece to a second championship. I'm disappointed that Kevin Pritchard held onto the Raef Lafrentz contract. He had the single most valuable trade chip in this market and he sat on his hands. He's been a great GM so far, but I hope he doesn't come down with John Paxson syndrome. Also, Cleveland: why didn't they part with Wally Z? I know they are good enough to win a title as is, but one more more move could have put them over the top. A reliable post scorer or wing could have locked up titles for the next two seasons.
  23. I've been reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower. This is not something I would typically go for, but I've enjoyed it thus far. The whole "anonymous letters" works nicely as storytelling device.
  24. The Lit Folder is back and we need a whacky subtitle for the main page. Suggestions?
