  1. The Rangers move ahead in the Carlos Delgado bidding war, offering 3 years 39 million. Don't know if the Marlins or Mets or going to be able to top that. Could be more offense for the Rangers.
  2. Watching as a Knicks fan, I could tell you Latrell is tremendously overrated. He's the definition of a streak shooter, one game he can't miss and the next he goes 6-24. He doesn't get to the line that much (especially as someone tauted as a great player) and his defense is inconsistent. The media I think started to overrate him a bit when he had that good series against the Spurs in the 99 Finals.
  3. from Scherer at PWI:
  4. well the Mets offered lower than the Marlins did for Delgado, so unless Minaya really is a "miracle worker" then he'll go 2/3 this offseason. Unless the Rangers blow him away, looks like he will join the Fish.
  5. I'm sorry, John Franco and Armando Benitez are no longer Mets once a Met killer, always a Met killer, this guy scares the hell out of me. Maybe Pedro can brush him back
  6. yes, You've Got Mail is awful and Dave plays a male version of Rosie O'Donnel, aka "The lonely, yet caring best friend", which is a staple of Nora Ephron, one of the most overrated writers and directors of all time
  7. If those stories are true, Benoit better keep a close eye on Nancy, although at this point, I don't know if anyone would want to do her anyway. But can you really blame her for cheating on Kevin Sullivan?
  8. Looking back, Dave Chapelle in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" seems totally out of place. Obviously that wasn't Dave's style of humor. I wonder how he feels about it now? I believe he was only 19 when he did that movie (92 or 93)
  9. Noted Met killer Brian Jordan signs with the Braves again. I'm sure he's salivating at the thought of getting to face Met pitching again, he basically made his entire career by killing the Mets.

  11. Apparently everything is not smooth between the Mets and Mike Cameron as was previously reported on WFAN today. Here's what he said in his conference call tonight: "Right now, I'll kind of do what I can to help the team. It's going to be a transition," Cameron, a two-time Gold Glove winner in center, said Tuesday. "That's the plan right now, to see what happens and kind of go with it. I've been going through a lot of mixed emotions." Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement. Even money says he's dealt before Spring Training.
  12. From Meltzer:
  13. Ricky Botallico signs with the Brewers and according to GM Doug Melvin, he has a good shot at being their closer. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1969441
  14. Jerry Lawler stars in the "Butch Patrick Story"
  15. I could also see them doing something where Big Show has to go under cover as a Kindergarden teacher, blatant stealing yes, but that won't stop them.
  16. When has he shown any decent acting chops on the mike? Between his checkered past, mediocore promos, and current pet project status, there's nothing to indicate Vince would try to promote Orton to producers as a big star. I think his promotion is limited to in the ring, where ANYBODY can get a push as long as they fit a vague profile. Undertaker cannot act and has an accent as thick as Austin's. But then again, Austin is acting too so eh. I guess I can picture Taker as your Generic Tough Guy in a movie fight scene as long as he's in the biker gear. I think you're misequating movies and wrestling here. Even Vince knows that nobody outside hardcore WWE fandom will pay money to see Jericho, Angle, or Orton in anything more than a bit part. As great a speaker as someone like Jericho is, for instance, he isn't going to be the next Rock. well, they gave Cena and Kane leading roles, and they have never acted before. so I guess Vince thinks we are supposed to pay to see them too.
  17. Cena, Kane and Austin are already confirmed. So who gets the other lead roles down the line? LOCKS HHH (duh) Orton (again, DUH) Torrie Wilson ( you know they are going to do this. It will be an "erotic thriller" where Torrie is "Tough" but "Sensual" Total Shannon Tweed vibe here for Torrie, "Action" scenes combined with her taking off her top every 5 minutes. Trish Stratus (In the same vein as Torrie, it will be a tough chick combined with tons of T and A and sex.) Undertaker (if he wants to, Vince worships the guy) MAYBE Batista Jericho Angle Stacy Keibler (basically all the T and A divas have a chance, they might just put them all in one movie, with Christy in the lead) Stephanie (if she wants to) LONGSHOTS Eddy Booker Benoit
  18. Word out of the NY papers is that Mike Cameron could be on his way to the A's for Eric Byrnes. This is if Byrnes isn't traded to the Diamondbacks first for Jose Valverde. I know the A's coveted Cameron last off season, so the deal makes sense I guess
  19. If the Mets trade Looper without getting another closer somewhere else, then Minaya goes down a peg in my book. The next thing you'll hear is that Rick Peterson can "fix" Kyle Farnsworth, I can see it now. Hopefully, they can get rid of that sac of crap Aaron Heilman, and keep Seo for long relief.
  20. "Talent" is an ambigious term to use in a worked business like pro wrestling. In baseball or any other sport, the most talented players are featured, because the goal is to win. Wrestling is worked, having talent doesn't guarentee success. In wrestling you can be successful with a talentless guy if you work the public through effective booking. Pretty much any other business or way of life, you can't do that. I guess the only other business that is similar would be Hollywood, where critics say people like Adam Sandler are "talentless", but yet he is successful.
  21. from Meltzer's spoilers report: We're looking for more complete notes from tonight's show. The biggest news was that Hulk Hogan was backstage at the show, but never appeared on camera. He does live in Tampa so there may not be a lot to read into this, but he also never does anything without a purpose.
  22. can't say I hate teams, but teams I strongly dislike MLB: Braves, SF Giants, Yankees NBA: Lakers, Pacers, Heat NFL: Packers, Bills, Rams, Eagles
